A thought-provoking piece, it was very hard to take it all in at first but as I gave myself some time to just observe and become familiar with the patterns it made more sense. I felt this was an interesting analogy for the pandemic itself and the flow of information these days that's sometimes hard to make sense of.

I enjoyed adjusting the simulation parameters as well and seeing their effects.

Funny side note, this wouldn't run in Windows on my old laptop because of OpenGL issues, but I was able to run it with WSL and a Windows X server. There's nothing that can't be solved with a little indirection.

Thanks for taking the time to figure out the game, and to write the insightful review. :) I can see how some confusion feels like the pandemic. I'm glad that some people are finding the parameters useful. Nice engineering quote, I didn't know that one.

I was on IRC when you wrote about the issue, but I didn't realize it could be my game. :D

Wow, very nice! :D I spent a lot of time with your game testing different parameter combinations. What a contemporary theme haha

Thanks, Stefan! I'm very happy to hear that the parameters added replayability. I'll keep that in mind. Your game is awesome, I'll have to try TIC-80 because of it. :)

Ooh, topical. I like the appearance and sound effects.

It also reminds me the Game of Life by Conway, may he rest in peace.

Thanks, Andrew! I can indeed credit the current pandemic for inspiration. I'm glad you liked the appearance and sfx, since I'm a newbie with those. Oh, I didn't realize that it's similar to GoL (it even has "life" in the title!).

Nice simulation, I'm yet to play with most of the numbers. I feel it could benefit from a pause button to better understand what's going on.

Thanks! :) Yes, it's quite chaotic, I agree. I tried to make the movement more intelligible, but I ran out of time.

Cool simulation. I notice that I'm able to save most people if I create a large quarantine zone that includes the hospital/medic. I wasn't able to resize it to my 1366x768 screen. Good job!

Developer

Hm, good strategy, I tried it now and it works. Yes, the resolution is fixed to 1024x768. I should make future games scalable. Thanks for trying the game! :)
