This might be the most fun TIC game I’ve ever played; great job on the visuals especially!
Really fun game, I love the aesthetics! That boss is tough!
Really fun shmup.
I found the controls and presentation really satisfying.
Love it! So much fun, the boss is super hard!
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it
Wow, I was hooked right from the title screen! Actually I didn't even start the game because I sat and listened to the music and chilled out with the spinning polyhedral. Superb visuals, sound, and even though I'm actually terrible at these kinds of games the generous health bar made me feel like I was really good at it. So thanks for also increasing my self-esteem ;). The boss fish sprite is especially good, but the scenery is excellent as well. Great job and I hope you make more games. Oh and I forgot to mention. love the title Amethyst Waters.
Thanks a lot for your detailed comment about the game!! :D And I’m also someone who needs long healthbars haha
Amazing! This is incredibly polished for a TIC game, let alone one created for a game jam! The opening animation and the progressive unlocks are both nice touches. Love the music!
Thanks for your comment, I’m glad you liked it!
The game is really polished and the soundtrack is amazing!
Thanks a lot man!!
The game is really polished and the soundtrack is amazing!
That end boss is one biiiig fish!
Its frames used almost the entire the space available for sprites 😂
I’m impressed you managed to fit so much into one cartridge!
In the end it was a bit annoying as I had to minify the code each time I wanted to run it
Oof that is frustrating. But it really turned out well!
Thanks a lot!!
That's quite the polished game. Fun to play as well. The art and sound design is great as well.
If you made the movement more fluid and a bit less chunky, it would be even better.
Thank you!! I agree completely with you. Actually, I added a more fluid movement at some point, but I had to sacrifice some features in order to keep 64k of code, so this was one of them :(
Lots of nice features! Like the idea of progress that persists beyond death. Also thanks for giving me enough starting health that I could enjoy the game before I got completely clobbered...
Thanks for your comment!! Yeah, I’m not that good at playing games, so I left enough health so I can beat my own game haha
I think this is the best game in the jam. Great work.
Thank you so much!!
Loved the game style! I've always envied people with enough perseverance to program TIC-80 😅
Thank you!! If was definitely a challenge to fit the game in 64k and learn Fennel at the same time haha. Next time I’ll use Common Lisp though, I missed a lot of its features
You're welcome :)
I've programmed both, and even though right now I'm in CL boat, I still find Fennel beautiful in its own way.
I agree with you, Fennel is such an elegant language. What I miss about CL is more freedom when dealing with macros. But after all I know it’s not Fennel’s fault or something :)
Loved the design (and the title card). Definitely impressed by the procedural generation too. Going to have to check out the source code to learn a thing or two...
Thank you! :) If you’re gonna check the code get it on GitHub, as I had to minify it on TIC-80 in order to fit its 64k limitation.
