This is a neat idea! Unfortunately it's held back by really frustrating platforming and level design. I would definitely recommend making your own platforming code and not relying on the wall jump bug with the default movement bundle to move around, as it's difficult to move.

I would also recommend a slider for visibility somewhere, so you can get the world just to as low as someone can see. "Price Point Live" from this jam has that at the start of the game, and you can use it to guarantee that the player has to use the light ability to see and that the screen isn't so dark they can't play.

I would also definitely increase Flikie's glow, it was quite weak and I didn't get much use out of it (I held my head close to the screen so I could see lmao). All this said I really like the cover art and you should definitely try adding non-pixel art to your games :)

Appreciate your support for this project ^^

I definitely see your point on that bundle and I definitely feel like expanding into a more better platforming experience from scratch. I wanted to make it where the light is used to help a player beat the game based on muscle memory or familiarity of the level design. I do think the level design could also be improved, maybe more underground levels that help to test this.

I would also love to give a more artistic style to the game so it looks a lot more like the art poster’s style. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts on the game. I hope to add these soon :D

cool idea! unfortunately I found the movement really frustrating, I think the light could show a bit more area as well since it's such a limited resource. Flying would fit with the firefly theme well if you want to add that mechanic. also, I always recommend people to switch their player to a capsule shape so they don't get stuck on walls.

the cover is really well made! good luck with your game dev in the future

I like the cute theme a lot!

The level design is neat but dang it's finnicky and I couldn't get too far along, also the momentum of the player meant I kept falling off ledges without trying which isn't super fun.

still tho it's cute and I love that about it! very nice thumbnail (:

my rating: 47 glowing bug butts

Thanks so much ^^

Also yeah I think I could have increased the friction and reduced the player speed to make it more stable. The level is still beatable after testing it a lot but I definitely can't wait to expand upon it further and add more levels to it after the jam so I can make it a lot more fun. :D
