Have you written a text adventure before?
I've dabbled, but I've never written a complete one before.
What programming language/authoring system did you use to write this game?
PHP
Approximately how long did it take to write this game?
About 6 weeks, probably, but a lot of that was thinking time rather than actual coding time.

Got a perfect score. Fun, atmospheric game.
I enjoyed this tutorial and felt that the writing descriptions within the mini-game were a real strength. It would be fun to see an extended adventure by this author. The tutorial was extensive and I wondered if those who don't like reading (who obviously aren't always the best fit for text adventures!) might find the amount of text too much at times. But overall a really solid implementation with a lot of skill in the coding and design side.
Thank you. That's kind of you to say and really motivating to hear. As for an extended adventure, I'm already working on a longer and slightly more 'advanced' adventure that I'll make sure gets an Itch page of its own when the time comes, so feel free to 'follow' me on here for updates.
The game reminded me of another game with the name of a time😂
Oooh a creepy house and vivid descriptions.
I really didn't think of using other words aside from the ones needed to solve the puzzles.
Also the UI was very reminiscent of old web with the bright clashing colours (stings a bit :P but I get the vibe here).
The Guide was very complete and helpful!
That was a fun story! It's clear that you are a writer. Really fantastic descriptions, very well written. I liked the creepy things you added, like when you examined the mirror.
The scoring bug has been fixed. If you played through the tutorial instead of using SKIP, you could no longer complete the game with a 100% score, but this is now possible.
I really enjoyed playing this one: The descriptions were rich and really set the scene, even taking me back to my grandmother's cottage (now bulldozed with a giant modern house sprawling on top of half the garden) where there was a collection of knick-knacks which included a Toby jug.
For improvements, I found that the tutorial did not entirely fit my laptop screen, so I was moving between the input at the bottom and the output at the top. The maze bit also felt too complex for the game to come, but the documentation was thorough, with clear instructions and a map for players to easily get around.
Excellent feedback, thank you. I've implemented the HELP FULLSCREEN command, which should help with small displays. I'll add it to the HELP text as an option (but won't update the tutorial with this option until after the Jam is finished - I don't want to modify the game too much whilst it's being judged.
