Getting to level 30 was fun but got a little repetitive in the last few waves. I would suggest shortening the wave count to 25 and increase the variety of mob stats, like making a really tanky but slow slime or a mob that shoots projectiles that you have to dodge while dealing with the horde behind you. The game was pretty fun and I had a blast upgrading to eight swords.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! A mob that shoots projectiles is a really great idea I'll definitely add it later on!
I think you could argue that the sword is the key item in this case haha
This is a really nice job, I like the gameplay loop and all the upgrades are pretty nice. I did end up hitting a couple bugs where the enemies stayed on screen after the wave ended/the next wave started before I finished killing everyone, then I would get immediately mobbed after buying upgrades. I think what would really elevate this would be sfx, though a week is a pretty tight crunch so I understand why you had to cut em. Maybe having the coins get pulled to you as you get closer would be nice?
Great job, this is pretty addicting!
Thanks for the feedback! I thought I had fixed the bugs you mentioned well before I submitted but I'll definitely go back and take a look at them again. I really wanted to add sfx but ran out of time lol. Again, thanks for the great recommendations I'll definitely try to implement them later!
The gameplay feels smooth and is enjoyable. However, the theme doesn't seem to be well incorporated.
Thanks for the feedback! I had planned to do something completely different for the theme but due to unfortunate events I didn't have enough time to finish so I just took what I had and tried to run with it. Not a great fit for the theme, but better than not having a game at all.
The art and animation seem nice, it's a good use of assets. Controls are smooth and generally the game is enjoyable.
The jam theme doesn't feel super strong with this one, though, it has more feel of a pickup or your regular XP rather than a key item.
I'm glad you enjoyed the game! The original mechanic I tried to incorporate fit a lot better with the theme but due to unfortunate events I didn't have time to finish it so I decided to take what I had and produce a playable game rather than not have a game at all.
where is the theme
I had a different mechanic that would fit the theme but due to unfortunate events I was unable to finish a game with said mechanic. Even though the game doesn't fit the theme, it's no excuse to be rude.
