Very cool in terms of visuals, story and gameplay! It's just a shame that:
A) The targeting of limbs is very frustrating, as you basically have to scroll though a list until you land on the one you want. It wouldn't be so bad if the limbs were ordered in a radial pattern, with left moving your aim clockwise and right moving it anti-clockwise (with maybe a separate button for targeting the torso in the center), but no, your aim seems to skip between limbs randomly.
B) The textboxes cannot be skipped or sped up, so if you die, you have to slowly watch all of them again.
Otherwise, the game is great!
You suggestion for arranging the limb selection clockwise is to good that I shamelessly stole it for the post-jam updates. Cutscenes can also be skipped now, hopefully this improves the "throwing needles at Chinese necromorphs" experience.
One of my favorites so far! Such a unique style and great gameplay. Choosing the target you really want is a little difficult, but overall it's pretty nice.
Big thanks for the feedback. I just made a few post-jam improvements which included reworking the targeting system a bit.
The style, the vibes and the creatures are sick! The concept of this Punch-Out like gameplay loop is also pretty neat. But for me personally the game laked some sound effects. In my oppinion it would be more satisfying to have crunchier, fleshier sound effects. That would make feel every shot feel much more satisfying and every missed shot more devastating.
Thanks for the feedback! I would have added more fleshy sounds but I was worried they would make the game too confusing and overwhelming. Also, my throat was getting a bit tired of making guttural noises.
I'm loving the creature designs, how they evolve to look creepier and more terrifying. I also really like the story. I do agree with Amby that being able to skip the intro and inbetween texts would be nice, that way it's easier and snappier to replay if you die or just want to play more.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll add the ability to skip cutscenes once the jam's voting period is over.
the style and presentation is pretty cool and interesting. The creatures and their background is unnerving for sure too. Gameplay could use improvements. Mainly the targeting since it would be a bit clunky or slow to select the limb you wan to attack. Also being able to skip the intro/tutorial would be a good feature
Thanks for the review. I'll keep the idea about skipping the tutorial in mind once the jam's voting period is over. About the targeting, originally it was going to use a movable crosshair but I thought it might cause confusion due to the camera angles and be time-consuming to implement, so I went for a simpler solution.
Glad to know that the creatures did their job of being spooky (I don't know if by "their background" you mean the stuff said in game or you realized what these things are actually based on).
