Was this a randomly generated dungeon or was I being randomly spawned in the rooms? Either way great job on the sound design, flashlight mechanic, radios etc...

My only criticism is the rats you couldn't do anything about them and they would push me out the map, I tried using the flashlight but nothing worked.

Another thing I think would have helped would have been a ray interactor or similar, I had trouble picking up the torch of the floor as I just couldn't reach it.

Overall it's a great game idea and I think if it was polished it would be really fun!

The level is randomly generated. Unfortunately one of our last minute fixes broke the Rats, sorry about that.

Thanks for playing!

This was really well executed for a maze game in terms of design!

Things I liked:

  • Using audio to help the player navigate the maze and find the keys is a great idea!
  • Overall audio/sfx were great. It's so nice to hear footsteps! This may be one of the first games I've heard them in.
  • Great balance between flashlight use and finding batteries.
  • I'm pretty sure this had procedural generation in it, which worked well.
  • Having the keys teleport instead of walking them all the way back helps make the gameplay fun instead of tedious.

Some Notes:

  • The rat creatures didn't always die when the light was flash on them. They also seemed to just push me through walls instead of killing me.
  • Some deaths felt random, which I imagine was due to a spider I didn't notice.
  • The flashlight would have worked better if it used an attach point that oriented itself in a forward direction.

You've done a great job on this one. A great maze entry with clever design to help players through the maze!

Thanks for a great submission!

I unfortunately won't be playing your game because although I'm not afraid of the dark, I am afraid of spiders and those boys look like honkers haha. Got that arachnophobia D:

Good job for creating this maze game. Fighting enemies with light definitely brings some nostalgia about the good old Alan Wake game!

Sometimes enemies got me without me hearing them in advance. But maybe I should have tried with louder volume. I liked the idea of finding batteries as ammo 👍🏻

Nice feel to the game and very spooky with the torchlight and dark walls.

I did find that I died unexpectedly a few times, I could hear a bit of a sound, then wham - I'm dead (I'm guessing it's a spider). So perhaps a bit more warning would help, or a clue where they are if you can't see them.

Great entry though - I did enjoy playing it...

For some reason the giant rats weren't killing me, instead they were just pushing me through the walls and I kept losing my flashlight! I would even go darker on the overall setting, make it absolutely necessary to have the flashlight. As it is now, you could do it without the flashlight because the rats dont kill you anyway.

Developer

Its unfortunate the Rats never killed the player, although Spiders should have been able to kill you. The level was supposed to be darker although I must have forgot to fix the lighting. Thanks for playing! :D
