How did you choose to implement the Theme: Haunting Melody in your game?
A “Haunting Melody” is a recurring theme in our narrative. Our main character Eve is an average schoolgirl. All that she wishes for is to be as talented as Laurence, the Academy's sweet leading violinist. One day she learns about an odd melody with the power to grant wishes. But what will be the price?

Did you implement any of the optional Bonus Challenges, and if so, which ones?
No

Alright, so, this demo seems like it has great potential to result in an awesome game.

The visuals are great overall and I also really liked the artwork during the intro. Speaking of the intro, it ended really abruptly, but this is a demo made for a game jam, so it's understandable. Just make sure that the transition from the intro to the actual game is better in the finished product.

The dialogue seems pretty good, good job there. The characters feel like actual people.

One thing to note is that the beginning seems to be way to slow-paced. There needs to be something that grabs the attention of the players, hooks them in.  Like this it's way too much of a slow burn and less patient player will probably give up before they reach anything interesting.

It also seemed like it's a bit too hard to tell what to do next. If the demo has an ending, I didn't reach it. I found the door to the wing of the school that's apparently under renovation but didn't seem to find a way to progress past that. And I seemed to wander aimlessly a lot of the time.

So, definitely revamp the beginning part of the game later on somewhat, it's the most important part of the game to get right.

One question, you've mentioned that you had to cut out a lot of features in order to finish this demo before the end of the submission period. Did you plan to include any of the bonus challenges from the game jam but didn't have the time to do so? It doesn't matter either way, I'm just curious.

Anyway, keep working on this. A finished version of this could be truly great!

Thank you very much for hosting this jam! You gave us the opportunity to finally make something.

We appreciate your feedback and will keep it in mind. Yesterday we uploaded a small bug fix Violince Demo for Windows v1.1. which fixed problems with cameras, inspections, and animation of going through doors.

The demo seems very slow also because of the feature cut. It wasn't about the bonus challenges, there must have been more mechanics such as hiding from enemies, rhythm game, and some more (spoiler!). So the demo prologue should have been a lot more dynamic but we were not making it in the time. After New Year's holidays, we will continue.

Thank you for your kind words. We hope you will make it to the demo's end. We will give you a little hint below.

HINT:
I think you didn't find the right map. We suggest you look around the Music Room :) This map doesn't look like the others.

Feels like classical survival horror and does a great job to introduce the main character and situation. Loved the mazelike leveldesign. Great entry to the jam!

Looks like this may be a fun game when fully refined, at the moment it feels a little slow for me as far as pace goes.

Thank you very much for your support, Rico. We did a huge feature cut to submit our project on time. Later pacing will be a lot more dynamic. Stay tuned!
