I had a lot of fun with this one, even if Remilia took several tries. My reaction speed left a bit to be desired during her fastest attacks. The checkpoints per boss were greatly appreciated. Moving the characters around does a lot to make it feel like an intense fight, and makes good use of the 3D backgrounds. And it is just very satisfying to click furiously after a sequence of intense blocking. Good gameplay loop.

As other people have noted, the lack of music is unfortunate. This does feel like a rhythm game. In fact, correctly blocking a chain of attacks started to sound a bit like a tune. A beat-em-up where the music is played by blocking and attacking at the right time would be pretty cool.

Playing this game looks very wrong out of context to other roommate because it looks like I just frantically clicking to beat up women how do I explain this.

10/10

Thanks for playing! Beating up women in a dream in a game is not a crime! For now...

Absolute banger entry and one of my favorites so far. The only thing missing is a banging remix

Developer

Thanks for playing! We had music but were placeholders using copyrighted stuff lol so we had to remove it, hopefully could add music once we have time xD.

I almost, and probably could, beat Remi, but she cheap-shotted me in the end and I rage quit out of frustration.

I got hit by almost all of Sakuya's knives, but survived? Not sure if their damage is bugged or that was intentional.

Regardless, my biggest issue with this game is how the bullets can sometimes end up spawning "behind" your own hands, which makes it really hard to see them coming. Otherwise, pretty enjoyable gameplay.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Remi do have a steeper increase in difficulty haha. Yeah, the knives are bugged, they deal 0 damage which I forgot to set it back :P. The bullets were going to have a sound+visual indicator but we end up forgetting about it lol, thanks for the feedback!

I really love the look of this. It's cool how dynamic it feels, thanks in large part to the moving camera. Though while visually cool, that same movement did sometimes make it difficult for me to be able to parse which side a bullet was heading towards. Particularly Sakuya's first phase gave me trouble for this reason. Don't know if this is intentionally part of the challenge or not (that is, being able to parse where the bullet is coming from), but I think some sort of additional visual could've been helpful. Color coding the bullets to each direction is the first thing that comes to mind, but I'm sure there's other ways.

To jump off another comment, it feels a lot like a rhythm game. Because it is basically DDR but without music and obviously contextualized very differently. An in-rhythm soundtrack would've added a lot, even perhaps just some percussion, but I understand if that wasn't in the cards. Proper rhythm games are a lot of work, not even including actually making the music itself.

While there was no music, there were at least some good sounds. It particularly made punching feel very satisfying lol

Good work overall

Developer

Thanks for playing! It's half part of the challenge, we initially do had plans for indicators on the bullets though we ran out of time before we realize it haha, thanks for the suggestion!

Extremely fun game, although Remi is difficult and i still haven't beaten her. But that's purely a skill issue on my part. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! She's the last boss after all xD
