I will say it again, god that title screen is so comfy. And poor Reimu, being dragged through all these existential quests. Pretty polished vn, I like the jokes.

what a title screen jesus christ

there was another vn a while back using the same engine called crimson something i think, can't seem to find it.  99% sure you are the same guy if not very sorry. and just like before: fouckinnnnnn insane visual novel functionality and ui and everything. i ever make a vn jam or not i might have to hit you up about how to use danmokou like this. furigana support. god dman

nobody here tiptoes around they are bold and confident and know what they are dont (good thing). and they are very funny. i am provided with many new words such as "marisacore", "proselytize", and "california"

i have been on a bit of a rush to play every game before the voting period ends and while it is this game's fault i will not make it i do not regret it at all

edit: nevermind it was extended i regret it even less

Yeah, I also made that VN (how is it so easy to tell? :thonk: ), the VN functionality is almost complete at this point, so if you want to use it in the near future, it should be possible :)

I’m vaguely sorry that it cramped up your ratings time (though it’s nice that you enjoyed learning about the fictional land of California, definitely worth the time).

A nice calming little story. I enjoyed it

Certainly the most impressive title screen of the jam. (Though I think the blur style could be upgraded.)

Well-crafted visual and audio presentation with nice banter dialogue. And even a log that even lets you go back in time. Nice. Even just exploring the UI feedback in various places is enjoyable.

I couldn't figure out how to leave the options screen at first, since there is no visible back button and the options screen does not respond to escape (if entered via the main menu). When the options screen is entered via the pause menu, escape closes everything at once, which may or may not be intended.

Thanks! The blur style is actually the laziest possible implementation, it just uses low-LOD sampling. Technically not even a blur :P

I’m planning to add an on-screen button prompt for common navigation keys to avoid confusion, regrettably that didn’t make it in this version (but it is Z/left click to confirm and X/right click to go back for anyone reading these comments).

I think I said the same thing after playing Crimson & Vermilion, but I really like your writing. The dialogue and humor reminds me of the kind of things we'd write to entertain fellow students in college. Also, dairi's art looks wonderful with your backgrounds, UI and animations/transitions. Everything looks very polished and blends harmoniously.

You mentioned the possibility of a Linux build. Does that mean that a Linux build of SiMP is also possible? I'd be interested in that.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Now that you mention it, I guess this is very much a college-student style of writing. Apparently I haven’t grown out of that phase yet (w).

A Linux build for SiMP is also possible, ping me on Discord and we can take a look at putting one together.

This was a nice lesson about nature and society.
There's also a few games that made me see how good my 144hz monitor look like, so thanks for that start screen.

Not much to say, but I just loved the story, easy going and doesn't drill hard concepts into your mind until much late, so it's quite relaxing to play this.

PD: Rip California

Developer(+1)

I’m glad you enjoyed the lesson! I enjoy writing these sorts of setups that are light but also pretty philosophical at times.

Also, I’m not sure what should happen with 144hz monitors, did it give you a warning about refresh rate or something?

PS. Please get me out of California, it’s been overcast for the past week and yet not a single drop of rain has fallen.

Sorry, I'm from Mexico, you really don't wanna come here (?
And yes, it gave a warning about that, I made a stream where you can see it, but it doesn't seem to affect anything but the main screen, well, it could probably smooth transitions, but I barely noticed it.

Developer(+1)

That warning looks about right, I guess the only difference might be some choppier animations in-game. Nice to know it went well :)

Also, cool live translation (I don’t know Spanish, but it’s still nice to see!)

This might came out quite late, but I really want to translate some fanmade content, if you're interested, we could see at the next jam on discord.

Developer

That sounds like a great idea, let’s definitely discuss more at the next jam :)

Hey Xziled, if you’re interested in doing some stuff for the next jam, send me a message on Discord (Bagoum#4773), I couldn’t find you in the jam server

Yukari, please don't stoop so low as to appeal to Reimu's sympathy for us Californians.

Developer

It ain’t easy being a Californian…
