Wow, Plants vs. Zombies multiplayer really brings back memories, except this time I lost every single game I played and my sunflower halo ghosts kept getting destroye-
This one is unique being the only multiplayer entry and I thought it was pretty fun, I'm also biased towards the art.
I played like 5 games and lost at all of them which was fun
It’s a very nice game! Implementing online multiplayer functionality in just 3 days was remarkable, though I wish singleplayer was a thing too.
The main complaint I have with the game is how slow your power fills up, even with Creator? Considering how many units already get more expensive the more you buy them, as you progress through the game and bakes start piling up it becomes less viable to make use of said units instead of just spamming mini and normal bakes.
It’s also pretty weird that when two bakes of the same size fight, it seems to be randomised which one will win. Kind of breaks the strategic nature a little bit.
However! I am admittedly just rambling here, its still a great game despite its flaws and with some tuning it’ll be a highly replayable experience!
thank you for playing the game with me mr cube! i dont think i used all of them but the unit types are pretty good n varied and they've all got a lil niche. shield guys might be a bit very good but overall: very cool and online multiplayer for a jam game always gets bonus points
Pretty well put together.
I played for 30 minutes with the non-Jam version - there was a game that lasted 9 minutes so I've got a decent idea of the game.
I'm someone who doesn't play strategy games, much less the real-time ones so I got understandably steamrolled. But that doesn't change some things I think are critical.
I really think the ghosts should have a visible health point indicator. That matters especially for the tanky units - I lost the 9-minute game because a smol Bake took down my guard, I had no way to gauge how much damage it took.
In that same game, me and my opponent both placed a Creator at the very start. And then around 5 minutes later, both Creators just. Vanished? I have recorded the game so yes, I checked, and they really both vanished at the same time for some reason, they were far from being under attack. Really doesn't feel good considering it's a bit of a pricey unit and that it's a generator too.
Even when the game's aggressivity is mid-low, it's hard to deploy high-ranking units because Power generation is quite slow - my Power bar never exceeded 33%. Probably doesn't help that some units have growing prices - I see where this balancing decision comes from, but it quite feels like me and my opponent were heavily held back.
With all that said, I still like very much what's here, I didn't feel overwhelmed like in most other strategy games, that means it's easy to pick up and that's really good in my book. Concept pretty neat and funny and easy to see. Fun times.
Timing your spawns well and hiding your troops behind more troops to give the impression that there is only one troop (when in fact there are several) is a strategy I came up with. It's more than meets the eye, the Evil Eye Sigma.
The strategy here goes deeper than I expected. All the elements (resource management, risk taking, unit diversity) are there, and it's become something that's part castle defense game, part farming game. You know a game is serious business when you play it and wish you had actual intelligence. ...What? Just me? Never mind. Anyway, neat entry!
Played the jam version rather than the newest one but I had fun! This definitely seems like a great concept and in practice it made for a fun match as I was learning strategies on the fly. I might have biases towards games related to PvZ but I do think this is remarkable, especially given it has online multiplayer.
Awesome game! I really loved the music and the PvZ versus concept! I think with more time this could have been super good.
