I enjoyed this game. I really liked the cinematic the start and end. It's a bit stange that you can't die. Defeating the monsters wasn't really necesary; I just sort of barged through most of them. I do actually prefer games where I cannot die, but need to solve puzzles instead. But what's the point of the monsters and traps then?
For jams I just like to play around and concentrate on making something that’s fun without penalty. I think if I go forward with this I will definitely include a “with health” mode by default, but for the simplicity of the game jam I just wanted something that lets the player decide how hard they want it to be instead of worrying about fail states
I liked how you used the same tiles scaled to different sizes, it gives the game a unique look and is something I wish I'd thought of :)
I too fell foul of the door bug which was a shame as there's some really good platforming action going on in this game. The movement of the character felt right and the hammer attack didn't feel too slow, so it felt like it just needed a bit of good timing. Platformers like this rely on good 'feel', and you nailed that. I wouldn't worry about posting a bugfix, even in the most strict jams, bug fixes are usually allowed, and this is far from a very strict jam! :)
I love Construct and use it for as much as I can! Sorry about the door, we're gonna get someone in there to check it out. Seems too dangerous to be left like that :
I found myself mostly just swinging the hammer and letting enemies walk into it rather than aiming at them. I'm not sure where the chaining was supposed to occur. I didn't play all the way through though, cause I also got stuck in a door.
I don't think the movement is fitting for melee combat. It's very platformer-y movement, fitting the lasers and doors but not really the slow hammer. It's too quick and exaggerated I think. As such, I felt more like jumping over enemies than doing anything to them.
Totally valid strategy! :) The door thing is super annoying, I have fixed it on the polished build I will post eventually. Player speed is also something to tweak if I work more on this in the future, thanks for the feedback!
Fun! I'm in to the slow hammer swings. The character has nice, snappy movement. I also like the use of tiles, the game has a very distinct look. Unfortunately, I got stuck in a door and could not progress any farther:
That is very tight timing on escaping that room! I didnt quite make it and got stuck. Nice job!
thanks! Really happy with the overall pace of it. Had a second build in progress with a bug fix for the doors but somehow I broke like 5 other things so I couldn’t get it submitted in time. Thanks for playing!

Neat game! I included it in my Toy Box Jam 3 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

posted an update, seems like a lot of people hit that door bug!
Pretty cool, fellow "Constructor"! :)
My only issue is that I also got stuck in the last door on the level where there are 4 laser cannons (nice reuse of the bell sprite btw :).

Just beat V2, thanks for the fix!
