Comments
Since I saw a few of your comments on other games, I thought I'd give it a try :D
Gameplay
It was fun at first, dodging the lasers and trying not to get locked on. I liked how easily you made the difficulty increase by just adding another ship.
Then I realised that if I kept going fast in one direction, the ships couldn't hit me, even with the velocity cap. To solve this, maybe make the ships shoot beams (raycast) rather than lasers (projectiles).
Also, the lock on never left the asteroid after I started going fast.
Visuals
Maybe giving each enemy a different colour for their ships and lock-on symbol would make them more interesting.
Not really much else to say as there wasn't much. But since this is a quick jam, the visuals were pretty good.
Audio
The music track was too short and didn't loop perfectly so it got a little annoying after a while.
Also, there should be some sound effects when a ship has locked on or a new ship has arrived or when lasers are being fired.
Enjoyment
It was fairly fun. Felt a bit slow to start with and nearly impossible at the end (if you play it properly).
Just wish there was something more when you finally hit Earth. Maybe an explosion?
Themes
Rock is hard, lasers are fast. Kinda fits, not super strongly, but strong enough :)
3 Hours
I wonder what you could have done with that 2.15 seconds remaining :D Very nice time keeping and well done for getting it done so close to the deadline!
Hopefully my comment doesn't sound too harsh; just trying to give some constructive criticism :) It was still a great game jam game!
aw man i tried to fix that but didint work. Also about the dif target locks: they were planned for dif projectiles. I really wnated a slow moving homing missle, to stop the hold left and win strar but ime murked me. Also i never used rayccasts before so yeah...
Thanks a lot for the review. PS: About the theme, its just about the rock, its is hard and fast (asteroid susually travel at insane speeds
It is great! It was my dream to be an asteroid instead of a rocket ship in games like this. XD
I like the idea. it's a good arcade game !
I finished by exploiting velocity I think .. I gained so much acceleration the ships weren't able to hit me even once by just going left and left and left ...
Super interesting take on an old classic! Impressive work for around 3 hours.
The music didn't loop properly which was "mildly annoying" but it did have music and this somehow added some sense of "impending doom".
Oh boi that means the velocity cap broke. originally it was going to be fixed because i was adding in homing missles, that if you exploited velocity you would just run into but i ran out of time. Last few minutes i slapped a velocity cap but i might have broke. oh well. also about the music: I decided to challange myself to make everything by myself and lets just say im not a good musician or artist, but for 3 hours 9and my 3rd comeplete project) im satisfied. still, im updating that once the jam is over (unless we can update during jam, but i dont think we can
Well things like this happen :D
I'm also .. let's say artistically challenged when it comes to music, so extra prop for creating something on your own!
I actually pinpointed the problem i coded the entire velocity cap it works, but i forgot to slap the script on the player game object. I still have 3 sec dev time wich is enought to slap it but i dunno if im allowed to so i asked in discord. Weather im allowed or not, im still quite proud of this. Thanks a lot for playing! (Btw if you have time oyu might wanna try to beat it no speed exploit, its a good challange
It took me a sec. to get the hang of it. Very cool. Mechanics were solid.
Yeah that was the idea. Thanks a lot (Boi that target lock mechanic took some time to get working lol) Did you manage to finish it?
