Cool movement mechanic! I wish some of the challenges were a bit easier, turning circles can be tight and finicky and managing velocity is hard when the controls are a little inconsistent at times. Neat game though, nice vibes and fun concept, very bold to have such an unusual movement system.

Developer

I've noticed that whatever I work on, I tend to make them a little too difficult because I end up basing it on my skill level and knowledge as the creator rather than a new player... Definitely something I need to work on. I really like experimenting with different control schemes. I feel like there's a lot of untapped potential in unique controls and a lot of games could benefit from a change in controls. Thankyou sm :)

This game captures the feeling of roller skating really well - a little tricky at first, but REALLY satisfying when you get the hang of it! The only problem I had with the movement was that the double jump seemed to be relative to the camera, while the rest of the movement wasn't, which was a little confusing.

The environment was really cool, the boost pads added a lot to the gameplay, and the NPCs were a great addition! Great job!

I Don't remember completely but I think i made the dash relative to the camera because it allowed for upwards dashes to give just a little extra height but thinking about it now, I could've done the xy direction based on the character and the z direction based on the camera... I'm glad you liked the skating and started to get the knack of it. I realised halfway through that I was kind of taking sonic DNA and putting it into the game and thats probably what subconsciously pushed me to add the boost pads. I was really proud of the system I made for the NPC's. Especially the ones that helped you find remaining trash. Thankyou so much :)

When I first entered the game I could barely get to where I wanted to go, but after a few minutes of playing it once I got the hang of it it felt really fun. I really like the feeling of skating and exploring the whole world!!

Developer

Thankyou! I think the biggest takeway from this is that my idea is very solid and captures the feeling of skating, it just needs a lot of fine tuning and testing. Thanks so much for the kind words :)

Very unique movement control for me.
Took some time to understand it~
Kinda enjoy the skate when I'm not falling ;'D
Best advice is , don't forget ur S key if u feel to stop ! hehe

The movement was super creative! Using the mouse buttons alternatively as you skate gave me some really nice moments of flow when I had a nice line to follow. When we get up to speed however, it can be hard to turn even when timing the left rights with the skate and taking advantage of that mechanic. Some polish and this movement style has so much potential for an entire game to be built around it. Great job and the environment and aesthetic felt cohesive.

Thankyou so much for the kind words! I've dreamed of a world with this mechanic for over a year now honestly and i used this gamejam as a change to prototype and test the idea but i'm glad you see it too! Your feedback is invaluable and I really appreciate you playing my game!

I really enjoyed my time with it! If I had more time I would have done something a bit more experimental with mine, but since I've never done pixel art I decided to do the gameplay pretty basic using a system I experimented with a lil while ago for the controls so I could focus on all the other game dev parts haha. I'd appreciate any feedback you would have if you have a chance :)

once you get used to it the movement system is satisfied. I love the sense of momentum
however as a player I had little sense of a goal. I knew through the map there were bots to talk to and trash to collect but there didn't seem to be much point in searching for this trash. aver all it is well made and satisfying to play and master.

Developer(+1)

You're very right about the lack of goal! I got that from a few people. I wanted to sort of push the player naturally to explore and leave it a bit open with some minor pushes in the right direction like the binoculars at the start that show a further area but what i realised after player feedback was i didn't have the visual and level design to naturally pique the player's curiosity and because i was relying on that, it left the player a little too lost. There was also a bot that told the player that maybe he could fix the world if you collected enough trash but multiple people missed him and most people didn't get enough trash to see the ending. You're feedback is duly noted and I really appreciate it :)

This game was really interesting and I like the skating mechanics! The turning circle is a bit wide and makes navigation on the tighter turns challenging, but I'm keen to see if you expand on the concept!

Developer(+1)

I also got this feedback a lot! People wanted a tighter turning circle. The point of it was to require fine skating control in order to get through bit I definitely see how it can be frustrating and I think if I were to work on it, I would defs increase it. I would also make it very strong if the player was very slow because I also saw some people struggling with making minor movements to interact with bots and stuff. Thanks so much for the feedback!

the skating system was cool, hard to get used to and a bit buggy but was unique. well done
