I enjoyed the idea/concept and liked the use of color being removed from the game as important objects. the hitbox was pretty big on the character and that caused some visual issues

It'll be nice if you check out our game too (:

Fun game it has some bugs and I was not sure where to go after the end but found out by pressing escape you can move through the levels and also the jumping is kind of weird and floaty its hard to understand how to jump but it might just be me. also how to play instructions in the game would be nice. oh and in the credits screen for some reason you can click on and drag inside of the page.

What an adorable idea for a game. My wife and I are expecting a girl and I would love to be able to do something like this for her one day. I ran into a bug when I came back home after defeating all the creatures, but other than that it was a fun game! I bet your daughter loves it.

Thanks for playing my game. I agree with everything you've said in the video.

Sorry about all the bugs, I knew about the problem with the parallax background but I couldn't fix it in time and I discovered the big bug at the end just after the Jam closed :( . I was trying to get my daughter to do some sound effects for the game too but it never quite happened in time.  In the end I just tried to do too much to get everything clean and polished for my first Jam.

PS. My daughter enjoyed it and wants me to make it easier and do more levels.

I ran into the most amazing glitch while playing the game. For some reason when I jumped after the character starts to talk about the blob thing stealing all the colors you rocket off into the stratosphere. Like unable to stop moving upward rocketing. If you do it once, every time you jump after the same thing persists. Restarting does fix the problem. However using ctrl to fire when you get the rainbow power is not greatly signposted. Apparently my audio driver crashed right before I went to play this game. After giving the music a listen it sounds pretty good.

The art is all well done however most of it not being created for the jam, the touch of using your daughter's art for the main character is pretty cool however. The one issue I do have is that while the blobs sucking the color out of the spaces they inhabited is cool, when they fire black little projectiles it makes it much harder to tell them from the background. I also had a problem with the boss fight being unable to move and being killed due to it.

Developer

Thanks for playing :)

I'll have a look for that bug in the "cutscene". It was a tricky bit to get right. Thanks for the tip about the rainbow power. I wanted to do some more dialog to signpost things (e.g. Firing rainbows and needing to kill the Color Vampires.) but I ran out of time. Hadn't thought about the issue with the projectiles. I did want to try and get more things drawing outside the color drain areas to make them stand out more (e.g. monsters and bullets), again beaten by the clock. Was my first Jam so got killed by scope creep :D

The boss fight bug was fixed 2 mins after submission unfortunately.

Great game! I thought the concept was very cool, having to collect all the colors.

Thanks for the review. Glad you liked it. Did you get "There and back" ;) ?

A lovely game, your daughter must be thrilled! I like how getting the rainbow ray made me able to do so much more, that really works for the There and Back theme. During the boss battle, though, I couldn't seem to move or do much of anything so I died. Is that part just unfinished? My only other criticism is that the high pitch of the jump sound effect hurt my ears after a while.  Overall, though, the music and effects are expertly chosen. My favourite part is how you animated the main character sprite. You truly brought that drawing to life! You and your daughter might enjoy trying my entry, 'Hurrah, Hurrah!'.  I'm a parent, too, so all of my games are designed with families in mind.

Awesome! Thanks for the review :) Sadly it looks like the boss battle is bugged :( The boss is a bit easy when it works too. Just fixed it but can't upload until after the Jam. All you missed was the door opening on the house and the well done screen. Planned much more but we'll.. scope creep :) I'll check out your game tonight and leave some comments/rate. Thanks again!
