I love how polished your game is! in terms of visuals and sound. I enjoyed playing it and was honestly so scared at some point when it asked if someone is standing behind me :D
Suggestions:
- Maybe based on the answers you give, you can get different endings (which will make the game replayable)
- Based on answers, Spawn Puzzles/objects in the room that the user has to solve, and maybe use the solution to answer the following questions, etc..
All good suggestions .. originally I was gonna make it longer but I only got a limited time as a good section of this game jam was taken up with life stuff.
I like the different endings scenario.
Loved the game format and your use of questions/riddles. I wasn't sure what was happening the first couple times I got a question wrong, but then figured it out after stepping back from the screen a bit. I kept wondering what type of monster was going to sneak up on me! Thankfully, I escaped, but had to play again to see what happens if I didn't escape. Nicely done!
Glad to hear someone finished the game
Well done !!
This game is perfectly scoped for a game jam. You found a unique mechanic and polished it to perfection. The aesthetics are clean, the audio compliments the setting well, and actual mechanics of answering questions worked flawlessly. I wasn't able to escape yet, but may give it another go with the hints when I have more time later.
Some things to point out, I didn't notice the walls closing in until the 3rd or 4th wrong answer. It needed a bit more of a visual cue to grab my eyes onto the impending danger. I'm sure you would have thrown something in if you had more time based on the polish of everything else.
This is a great entry! It really has me rethinking my next game jam to be more focused and polished with my execution because I love what you've done here.
Glad you enjoyed it .. I really made this too hard to work out
If you do end up replaying there are some hints on the menu and maybe this might help
"Some questions repeat and a certain answer tells you something about an item in the room"
As soon as it asked me the 'question'.. I was shocked! I thought I was supposed to follow orders! Ah the walls are closing in! In all seriousness that was a cool concept. Reminds me of WTTG in a way. I'd like to give it another go and figure a way out. Nice work!
I made it too hard .. lol .. I had a limited time and no one here to play test before I put it out (wife wont play my games because they are too "dark").
The menu does have some hints that might give you a push should you want them
I have the same problem in my household lol! Don't sweat it man I think you have a really cool idea. I'll take a look at those hints and try again.
This was a really fun and quality experience! Super clean and polished. I had the immediate feeling I was in Squid Game or some kind of experiment where I was being monitored. I liked the questions a lot too, simple and yet some were unnerving that I had to look around and see if there was someone in the room behind me or something.
My takeaway was great. I wish there was something more to the questions though? It felt like a conversation between myself and the person sending the questions, but there was no reward. Just squishhhhhh. On the wall mechanics, I didn't notice they were closing in till way way later. Perhaps some dust particles or something along the edges would help sell the effect a bit more. I wanted a bit more to actually do, but solid experience for sure!
Thanks for playing
Didn't get a lot of time on this one unfortunately as life got in the way .. Without giving too much away there is a way to escape the room and the questions, what they say, their order etc are key to this. Post external testing I would consider making a few of the questions a little more obvious with an earlier 'good' reaction that helps you escape and on reflection give people the idea that they can escape the room.
That was fun! i kept feeling like something bad was going to happen. lol. I didn't know walls were closing in on me till I noticed the room was smaller and tried harder on the questions. Good job! BTW I liked the hands.
Glad you had fun and thanks for playing.
Did you escape? .. there is a way to get out of the room
