The visuals are really nice, but the controls are frustrating because the camera is static, I liked the music a lot but they are long and the levels are too short so you don't have time to listen, but overall a good game.
The visuals are quite nice. You committed to a style all along which is nice. The gameplay is interesting but I found the popup asking to continue or quit each time I died very annoying. I would suggest to automatically respawn. If the player want to quit, he will hit escape and quit for example. The music was a bit too much for me, but still a nice addition. Finally, about the controls, I would advise to make the camera more “top down”. I was a bit confused at the beginning. I was not sure where I was going and how I was oriented.
Congrats for your entry!
Thank you for your review. :)
And yes, I also wasn't happy with the constant pop-up after each death, but I still wanted to let the player know what just happened and I was out of time to create some better notification system.
at first i was quite into the visuals and the evading attacks with tank controls gameplay.
then i was confused as to what i was doing
then i got more confused
then i met death again and had no idea what was going on
then the game ended
i was just very very confused playing this game
Thank you for your review. Though I'm really sorry you were confused with this game so much. I tried my best to make a mystical story with as much as subtle messages as possible.
i think it was just a bit too subtle, i kept reading things and thinking, hmm, he's trying to tell me something here, i just don't know what 😂
Really unique style, I was into it.
For a quick win to make it look even better you can make the particles fade in and out by ticking colour over time and adding alpha 0 to the start and end, and adding a full alpha in the middle
Glad you liked it.
Thank you for the tip - that's a great idea!
The controls were a bit disorientating. (The movement is always relative to the character, not the camera). The style was relaxing and unthreatening, making it easy to get lost in this games world, its really nice. The music matched this, good job. I couldnt figure out how to gain lives; I couldn't attack the enemy because I kept respawning with one life.
Nice game!
Yes, I should've definitely improve upon the controls and the whole mechanic where the screen splashes at you with every death is a bit odd. I delibaretly didn't directly tell in the game exactly what to do (though that may be a weak point for a "5 minute game") because I wanted to keep the flow of the game through the in game interactions; but at the penultimate scene when you talk to the DEATH your kill count becomes your LIFE count, which makes it much easier to win the final battle. The whole point was that if you listen to DEATH you shall fail, but going against the rules (fails) will actually help you finish the game.
Thanks for playing and in depth review. :)
Amazing and underrated, I love the atmospheric art and sound, I'm not so keen on the controls but that's just personal preference.
Good job!
Thank you! :)
Great game, the visuals and sound were outstanding! the controllers confused me very much. I cant imagine how you accomplished so much in so little time.
Thank you for your review!
Well, the nights were pretty long this weekend :)
