It was a fun game, good job! The concept was pretty unique, like some sort of suicidal splatoon, and it was executed well too - It was simple and polished well. Some more action would've been nice, as I ended up spending a lot of time just waiting around, so more projectiles would've helped, and powerups would've been good as well- it would've been interesting to see what kind of powerups would work in this sort of game. A simple computer AI could've helped too, even if it just randomly moved in some direction, although even that is a pretty tall order for a jam game so it's not too big a deal. The graphics were great though, and I loved the lighting effects that really helped make the game feel that bit more engaging. The music fit with the feel of the game as well, and the sound effects were nice too. Awesome work overall, it's a good game!

I played your game (albeit, by myself)! I think your game is really cute and polished for a short game jam. I like the atmosphere created by the visual FX and the music, and I think you emulated the theme well!
As a single player game, it's fun to try and control both guys at once. As a two-player game, I can see this being an interesting match. I like how one player's color can overwrite the other player's color.
At times, I felt like there was a sort of lull, "waiting" for a missile to hit me in a spot that needed color.
If you wanted to add more to it, these are just some suggestions that you can take or leave:
- It might be fun if players could push each other out of the way sometimes (maybe only with a powerup, or maybe only the losing player can).
- Since the game is two-player, you could have a co-op puzzle mode where the players have to create a particular pre-determined or procedural pattern to win the level.
- And I feel like there is some fun to be had with the missiles. Making them homing at particular times might make your gameplay a little more hectic and reactive!
Well done and good luck :)
Thanks so much for playing! That's some really useful feedback, I think making missiles hit areas that don't have paint would be a good move, as well as being able to knock players. In the update, I will add some powerups to mix things up. I am also hoping to add maps, but it probably won't come straight away as I want to keep the scope not too large to begin with.
Sadly, I don't have anyone to play it with but it seems fun and also self balancing(the player who has the least amount of paint has an bigger area to steal area from) which is great.
Brings so many beautiful memories of 2P flash games... I don't have really much to say, because the game is very simple, and it's simplicity is of course a great strength! Well executed, good idea, fits the topic, what more can I say? Maybe if there was more variety in terms of the "shooting" patterns it would be even better, but it doesn't make the game any less awesome when the patterns are just like they are here.
Simplicity, good technical execution and some nostalgia? Count me in!
Great job, hope to see more of your games in future jams.
Cool take on the theme! It would be nice to have it switch up a little where the projectiles go into double time for a little or having mines that drop down to see who can get to it first. There could also be powerups where you get a bigger zone of explosion or have it where as long as you are alive you leave a trail of paint to temporarily reverse the idea of death being good.
it's hard to play when you have no friend like me XD
but I think it must be pretty fun
cool game nice music.. liked the idea
and most of all generates on your first game
to me it's my second one...
in my first jam did horribly bad...
i focused on the Art 80% of the time goes for it then i start paneling because i need it learn how to use unity and build the game it self with no time so yeah it was time (i think it was 2019 - 2020)
Super fun! Making a two-player game in a game jam is a risk since most people will be playing alone, but I played with my wife and we got SUPER competitive and started psyching ourselves out about the generation patterns of the projectiles XD (she beat me 3-1 so it's definitely rigged...) The graphics were simple but they had a lot of "juice". My only suggestion would be to telegraph the projectiles a bit more, or just have a bit of rules so they're a bit easier to predict -- the randomness is good don't get me wrong, but it feels a bit hard to play strategically because the projectiles move so fast. I wouldn't lean *too* hard into the strategy aspect because it works really well as a party game right now, but a tiny bit would be nice. If a polished version of this was on Switch for < $5 I would definitely buy it.
I really liked the concept and the characters are also really cute. However, I wish there was a singleplayer mode. It's still a really good game.
This is a really cool interpretation of the theme! I was playing alone so didnt get the full experience but still had fun. The sounds and lighting in particular were great. The only addition i maybe would sugest is telegraphing the projectils a litle more so you can jockey with the other player for position. Btw the Wowie at the end put the biggest smile on my face!
Best interpretation of the theme I've seen yet. I really liked the lighting and camera movement! I wasn't able to play with anyone else, so I tried to control both players. It was an interesting experience, and Blue barely won. I would love this game even more if there was a singleplayer mode where you play against an AI, but that would take a while to implement. Really great game--one of the few games I gave 5 stars overall.
For your first game jam this is very nice.
The idea of dying and splattering the ground with color is a cool concept.
I did press "c" to make the game play more easily... :)
Great job and had fun playing it!
