Hi. My name is... you can call me Kay. My pronouns are she/her. I created The Thirty Moons System. I hate horror with a burning passion, but I love playing dramatic situations so I guess I am making a horror game XP. I love ponies big and (my) little. I enjoy writing fanfiction & or erotica, drawing, I am currently dabbling in making a videogame I don't know if I will get far, but I am having fun with it so far and last but not least I, of course, make physical games, TTRPG's and zines.

So my first thought for a winter horror land is a haunted house. In My Little Pony they have a holiday called Hearth Warming.  Spirits called windigos freeze everything. They are a force of nature that can not be stopped. They can be held at bay. If you give something in the name of friendship it creates a fire of friendship that drives the windigos away. On Hearth Warming every pony creates giant fires that will keep the windigos at bay for another year.

You are locked in a house that is being frozen. Every five minutes everyone has to give up part of their character. Once no one has anything left to give they all freeze. I don't know how you win yet. Short point long my inspiration is the windigos from MLP.

If you have any ideas feel free to let me know. If you need help with your game I will be glad to help in any way I can. <3

So, take this with a grain of salt because I am a white person, but from what I've read in a lot of places, Indigenous people have asked not to use that particular creature in games and things because it's a taboo and a part of the religious beliefs of certain tribes, but again, I'm not an expert! Just something to keep in mind, but I think there's a lot that could still be done with this idea with maybe a few tweaks! 🙂

I appreciate your telling me. I am not indigenous either. I would not want to be disrespectful to anyone. I would not steal another person's culture for a game or any other reason. I do know wendigo are deeply spiritual and not to be used by just anyone.

Windigos are wind spirits from MLP. They are named after wendigo but in no way related. There is also the huricanter, a weather spirit that is the same kind of creature as the windigo.  Instead of snow storms it creates hurricanes. I do think there are better weather puns out there. As far as I can find no one was upset by the pun. No one ever claimed they were in any way realated to indigenous culture.

Even if they have a different explanation, I would argue that the name is too similar to say that it would be a good idea, whether or not there was pushback against MLP, you know? But as you pointed out, there are other, better weather puns! 😊
