This was so tense. Even after seeing the failure ending, my heart still stopped every time the woman showed up. The pixel art and voice acting is phenomenal. Also loved the animations and style a ton! The only difficulty I had was getting lost. I'm guessing that was the intention, but maybe some landmarks would help once the key is found. Needless to say, I had a great time and great work!

My developer brain is curious how it was determined when she showed up. You don't need to share the secret sauce... but I'm guessing random time intervals?

Thank you! For a post jam version to help with the getting lost problem, I was planning on adding some variation to the textures... just to help a little bit.

So, for having her show up, I just had it so when the match is burned out (after 13 seconds I believe) the the screen goes black. And then I would have a variable count down... depending on the time left variable, the woman's frames would cycle. When you strike a match, that variable would still be where it was. So essentially is just a timer that counts down. When it hits 0, the jump scare scene is run. I hope that makes sense! I'm always willing to share my secrets! :)

Ohh, that's interesting. I thought she was moving forward when I tried to keep moving in the "Enter/Space" scene
