I loved the concept ! This is a very good entry for a game jam, hopefully I was able to saw it before the notations ends !

The things that I liked

  • The two side actions, rhythm plus kill enemies, it is a very fun exercise
  • The graphics, it reminds me a little of undertale
  • The humor, the text was meaningful or funny, it's good to see other things than just placeholders

The things that can be improved

  • I think that the health bar is too much, the concept can run without it and sometimes simplicity is better
  • It's not a real problem but big number are really hard to figure out by the player,  for example 1 and 7 or much more easy to compare than 10647 and 1558, like you  have to count the number to see which is bigger, if you look some games like FTL or Into the breach the  dev don't have numbers higher than 20

I don't think this concept can make a real game, but the concept of asking the player to do rhythm and actions in the same time (a little like Crypt of the necrodancer) can make a combat system or something like that, so if you want you can fit this idea in a whole game (I'll be the first to test it).

Hey, thank you for playing and the detailed feedback! I appreciate it!

The big number thing is so true, I didn't think of it at the time, I just set the durability cost to be exactly the BPM (it made sense in my head), and then adjusted the number up and up instead of scaling it down to more manageable numbers.

There has been some very interesting games lately that use the rhythm (play to the beat) mechanic, such as BPM bullets per minute and Metal: Hellsinger, and those kinds of games can get so fun to play. I was addicted to crypt of the necrodancer for a long time, I've been wanting to play cadence of hyrule for the same reason. While I don't plan to make Uncadaveric a real game, as I've been just studying a lot lately and trying to come with different things until I feel confident enough for a bigger project (I'm basically just  doing lots of game jams), I do want to make a rhythm game of sorts one day.

Again, thanks for playing, I hope to see you in future jams!
