Having the same issue as velvetsanity above, I've installed .NET and I still just get a crash immediately on startup. The window flashes for a millisecond and then it's gone.

I've had a few people report the same. I'm looking into it but current unsure what the cause could be since it works for some and not for others. I'll get back to you if I find a fix!

If you don't mind me asking, where on your PC did you place the files? And what version of Windows are you on?

Any extra details you're willing to provide may be able to help me pinpoint the issue faster!

The files are in a folder not far from my root drive. F:\FF14\FFXIV Local Character Settings Copy Tool (Windows) (Not FF's actual install folder, just somewhere I put FF related tools).

Windows is Windows 11 Pro 64-bit

Hopefully that helps a little ^^

Thanks for the info!

Could you try putting the tool on your C drive to see if that changes anything? I don't think it will but it'll at least rule that out if it doesn't.

Sadly same result! Just flashes for a moment then gone.

I'm betting there's some dependency missing that I can't pinpoint because all my PCs have whatever it is that it needs since I use them all for my work...

I did notice once way back that it might be throwing an error code before instantly closing that you could potentially screenshot by spamming alt + printscreen while it opens. If you manage to capture that, it would be a great help, but also I do NOT expect you to go that far for me. I will continue to debug and try to reproduce the issue on my end! You've already helped a ton so thank you so much for that!

I tried to take a screen recording at 60fps (the best my recorder can do, sadly) but it never got any further along than this.

(Sorry for the weird crop, it was hard to tell where it would pop up to record)

So I finally managed to reproduce the issue but the fix I found was still installing the .NET SDK linked in the install instructions. Once I installed .NET on the PC that it was crashing on as you described, it started working normally.

Beyond that I haven't been able to find any other reason it would crash or any potential fixes yet.

I'll leave the link to the download here just to be extra sure you got the right thing but if this didn't fix it on your end then the mystery continues to be mysterious :(

https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download

Yea, unforunately when I try to install from that link, the installer only gives me the option to repair or uninstall, so it's definitely already there :(
I did a repair just in case but no luck, still closing.

Just as an extra measure, I asked my partner to run it and he can run it fine! The biggest thing we can find is our version of Windows is slightly different. Maybe this will help?

Mine is the 22H2 that it DOESN'T work on, his is the 23H2 that it DOES work on.

It's not impossible that that's the cause but I have no idea why that would be the case 😭

I'll cross reference these with my Windows version to see if that really is the case though!

Thanks so much for all this info you've been a huge help in trying to get this fixed!

That might be it!

I found one of my PCs with 22H2 and it is indeed crashing as you described where all of mine with 23H2 work as intended!

I'm looking into how to fix this now, fingers crossed there's something I can do about it on my end. I'm going to update the prerequisites on the page in the meanwhile.
