Yeah, you can go behind it. I didn't prevent the player from going there because you generally wouldn't want to do that, it's a bad idea to do it because you don't see where you're going and you don't see the bullets.
If I ever update this game that would be one of the first things to work on though, it can be confusing, especially if you somehow end up behind it accidentally.
I'm glad you liked it!
At first I was going to add some music but I didn't have much time so I tried random music but it was bad so in the end I just didn't add music. Same with a few sounds, I was going to add a sound for when you dodge a bullet that passed really close (like grazing in touhou games) but I still had to make the Title screen (I didn't use any game engine so that took a day or so) and fix some issues.
Also I probably spent too much time with the text to speech that tells you the score.
Extremely fun, nice music and good visuals. How did you get 1133 points though? It's really hard to even get to 100...
Also there's an enemy that shoots circles of bullets, when spawning the bullets for the first time the game lags a lot, at least in the WebGL version but with a pretty good CPU and GPU
I'm giving this a perfect 5/5. At first it was confusing being unable to move but then after understanding the movement mechanics it gets really fun. Also I probably don't even need to say this but the visuals and audio were amazing, it was a really creative idea, really easy to learn how to play and it has a really interesting and unique interpretation of the theme.
Good job.
I didn't think about the time to be the theme so I guess it did fit the theme, it wasn't really clear though.
The graphics were indeed simple but they didn't need to be really complex, I personally think the simple graphics work perfectly for this game.
Also you included linux, mac and windows builds and that's based
I loved having to build walls to kill the enemies. Very fun, very good visuals, extremely creative and with a good implementation of the theme. Also at times there were tons of bullets but they were really fun to try to dodge. Great game.
The only strange thing is the music loop, when the music ends there's silence and then it plays again instead of being a nice seamless loop. Cool music though.
I didn't expect an FPS game, the aesthetic reminds me of Doom 3 and other similar games and I like that. Unfortunately I didn't actually find it fun, I think that shooting is relatively unnecessary and that if you run through the corridors you can't even die, sure there are lots of bullets but dodging them is hard but the things you find on the floor will eventually heal you so in the end you just run through the maze getting damage but also recovering health.
It's really polished, it's very original and has really good visuals. The only confusing thing were the blue (protective) tiles, the same sounds and effects were playing when I get hit by trash while i'm standing on them, so if I don't look at the UI I think i'm actually taking damage, that could lead you to think that the protective tiles don't work when they actually are.
It's very fun, the camera movement and shooting were a bit strange and one could say that the visuals are not very original but actually this game is very entertaining, this is one of the most fun games that I played in this jam.
Also it crashed the first time I played it for some reason but the second time I was able to play it normally
It crashed again. This is the last line of the Ogre.log file (the other lines are unrelated and from minutes earlier):
23:08:47: Ogre::RenderingAPIException::RenderingAPIException: Unable to set light details in D3D9RenderSystem::setD3D9Light at C:\OgreSDK\Ogre3D\ogre\RenderSystems\Direct3D9\src\OgreD3D9RenderSystem.cpp (line 247)
It's apparently a problem with Direct3D, so it's just a Linux / Wine problem and not a problem with your game.
I'll investigate the issue later. I added the game to a private collection because now I'm curious about the lore and all that cool stuff.
I got this error after completing the first level (Arch Linux and Love 11.4)
Error invalid key to 'next' Traceback [love "callbacks.lua"]:228: in function 'handler' [C]: in function '(for generator)' toybox/entities/Room.lua:435: in function '__update_instances' toybox/entities/Room.lua:48: in function 'oll' soul/court.lua:307: in function '__step' toybox/entities/Game.lua:54: in function '__step' toybox/LGML.lua:229: in function 'update' [love "callbacks.lua"]:162: in function <[love "callbacks.lua"]:144> [C]: in function 'xpcall'
I'm sorry but I'm not going to rate it because it just crashed and I just barely tested it.
It's like a touhou game, it's fun, has good graphics, lots of bullets and cool patterns.
I was able to play this game because I have a controller but how am I supposed to press Start with a keyboard?
Also the game just closes when you complete the first level so that's weird. (At least in Linux with wine)
