Thank you for the feedback and for the kind words! Truly means a lot!

I'm working simultaneously on all of the episodes of CHORDOSIS almost daily. I'm still hesitant to say a proper release date, but it's coming together nicely.

Random status on EP2:
Currently I'm working on the 17 language localization and of how I implement it.
This means most of my writing is finally kinda finished I guess :D and I'm really happy about it!
It was not the cheapest, but I worked together with a professional AAA localization company.
(Bad translation is worse than having none, and same applies to voice acting in my opinion.)

So, in this week I've worked mostly outside the Unreal Engine doing 2D stuff in GIMP and Blender with localized 2Dtextures (zoom in to a newspaper and it's naively in Chinese for you or something) (yes, I really do hate UI text walls, and text-based storytellng should be part of the game world) so there will be a lot of ingame 3d objects in your own language.

In this week I made a lot of progress with my sound design as well!
My carpenter neighbor was on a holiday this week so it was finally kinda quiet, and I was able to record a lot again.
Just like the fist episode, the second one will have a really "go nuts" ending with insane sound design.

I made this weird contraption in my basement/workshop for the sound of that segment (mostly).
I used some metal wires on a large hard iron plate, tensioned with clamps on wood, and it has barbed wire loosely all over on it.
I just love making my own instruments, but they usually looks awful, and something out of a SAW movie lol.

But this one sounds really really cool.
Sounds really screechy and eerie!
I did some fields on it as well, and it works great with my impulse responses.
In Monday, I just cant wait to finally implement it as the sound of
well...
.... :D  I'm not gonna spoil it ....

but I'll probably spend an another week on this, to finally change out my placeholders of the ending of EP2.

Gamedev takes a lot of time, effort. I truly believe I have something in my hands here.
CHORDOSIS quickly became my job, and a huge part of my life. I'll do my best to make it fun, and to give goosebumps.

Hey, CHORDOSIS is not abandoned!
Working on this game takes a lot of time and effort, and I'm completely alone with it.

I'm really sorry that I can't quickly reply to every single one of you.
I wish I could afford proper community management with a discord server and such, but I have to keep this game under my scope.

I'm literally just a dude working on this from my bedroom for the past 4 years or so.

My Patreon was actually never live, but I left the link there in the case I'd have the time to give back to the community with cut-out segments from CHORDOSIS as standalone little games. (there's a lot of cut content, and I still planning to release them)
I was never published it cause I'd hate to see people supporting me Patreon, while I'm not a 100% sure I could give back with professional content.
Developing the main game takes basically all of my time.

My game is not for everyone I'm completely okay with that, and I created and designed the whole thing with the mindset of it.
If you didn't liked the first episode, and if you like to have a refund then please feel free to reach out to itch support, they're amazing, and I'm sure your get your money back.

Hey, I released CHORDOSIS about 6 months ago, simultaneously with the devlogs to show people how the development of my game is taking a shape, and 6 months goes by quickly as a solo dev.

I've never shared any official release dates for the next chapters, because it simply just takes a lot of time and effort to create a relatively high fidelity game like CHORDOSIS from my bedroom.

I worked on this game almost daily for the past 4 years, and I will never give up on it.
Unlike a lot of fellow indie devs, who has a lot of projects come and go and never to be realized, I only have one project, and it's this one, CHORDOSIS.

The second episode was playable before the first one, but as I got more and more and more support, I went back to the drawingboard and reimagined, redone a lot of it for the sake of providing a quality experience.

I'm still very very hesitant about an official roadmap (with release dates) for my game. I will release it as soon as I feel like it's ready, and when I feel like I could provide the absolutely best I could do with it.

As I'm working on all the episodes simultaneously, I'm testing and replaying the whole game over and over again almost every night.

I'm really thankful for all the feedback, and I'm really sorry about the waiting, and I truly wish that I could reply to every single one of you.
I'm doing my best to give and release a bug-free, intense, atmospheric and immerse game just like episode one was.

CHORDOSIS quickly became not just my job, but a huge part of my life.
Sometimes I think, what if?... cause I could just release the whole thing in a couple of weeks from now, but I'm not gonna give up, nor give in.
There's a lot of work ahead of me, and I'm in love with every second of it.
And I know, that in the end of the day, I'll have something that's more than a game, I'll have something that I can be proud of.

Hey, Thank you so much for the kind words!

I just have a storefront here, and I don't manage any payments at all. Please reach out to the itch support with the error codes.

Thank you! :)

Thank you!!! <3

Hey, Absolutely not!

All the upcoming episodes will be just a free update for everyone who owns the CHORDOSIS - FOUNDERS EDITION.

Edit: so far as I'm testing stuff out, it seems like it's gonna be a 2gig update, but it"s really hard to keep my memory footprint relatively low.

Hey! Thank you for the feedback!
I'll look trough my mails in just a bit, but a quick question.

Have you extracted the game at all? You can run CHORDOSIS from the .zip, but it will be really really slow, and you can't save that way.
I recommend using the official itch.io app for managing larger games like mine.

Thank you! Have fun with CHORDOSIS!

Thank you so much!!!

I've made a weekend sale of 40% OFF of CHORDOSIS for the sake of your comment.

Best of luck to you as well!

Hey, I think "After the dialogue, everything is smooth as butter again."  is a good clue that this is not a performance issue. In fact, while in dialogue, there's almost nothing to render out, and it's a relatively simple part of the game for the CPU.

This could be an issue with more than one application "fighting" over the Windows cursor capture, and probably an another software won, so CHORDOSIS got unfocused. that's why after the in-game cursor disappears, things go back to smooth.

if that happens, click outside the game and click back in, to make sure CHORDOSIS is focused. You can test this by just clicking outside the game any time and you'll receive about 8 fps.

Truly hope this helps, and hope you'll have fun with my game!

Oh, love to hear that!!! There's a lot haha

Hey, Thank you! :)

Contact the itch.io support via email at support@itch.io

Their support is lovely, it should be quick and easy, but if you need further assistance, I'm here to help.

Hey! Thank you so much!

Yes, a VR version is in the works, and it will be made for VR in mind.
Full dedicated motion-controller support, and the level design will be different from the original game, unlike any VR mods.
But.. I's fun to experiment and see non VR releases in your headset tho, feel free to see my game in it as well. (and the fact that this is possible with my (semi realistic) game means that I've succeeded with my optimization heheheeee)
And it's amazing that people think my game is worthy enough to crack and hack it lol

Also I've just realized watched your playtrough of CHORDOSIS on YouTube. Dude It was amazing! Thank you!!!!

Edit: I was you 97th sub on yt! Congrats man! that's really hard to achieve! Keep em going and wish you the best in the future!

Hey!
Thank you for the feedback and the kind words!!!!!
Yeah, I had a similar itch, so I decided to make a game that scratching it lol

A Win64 release will never behave the same as a dedicated MacOS vesion.

I've heard people running my game with Wine9.2 successfully, but it crashes VERY often. I'm not sure, but I think it's the regular DLSS checks, with windows hardware cursor change failing big time with the Windows focusing on the active process.

These will be the first few things I would solve with a MacOS version, but it goes reallyreally deep...

Feel free to hack around with CHORDOSIS as you'd like tho, I actually really appreciate everyone who find my game interesting, but if you decided you couldn't wait for a proper MacOS release, you could just refund the whole thing and that's completely fine.

Thank you again Dylan, I really appreciate your interest!

Hey!
Thank you for the kind words and for the feedback!

When your hands are empty, I programmed in a feature when you hold down the LMB or the LT, the game will auto equips your last used weapon or module. Unreal is in front of me rn and I'll look into this ASAP!

I have dedicated "last_active_GG" variable for this, mainly for the save system (so when you load the game you'll have the same weapon equipped) but that might be bugged out.
A game restart should actually solve everything.

Thank you for the feedback!

Hey,
Thank you so so much! It truly means a lot!!!

My Patreon is in the dark for now, but it will go live when I have a significant lot to give back to my supporters.
I have some smaller projects for Patreons only, and CHORDOSIS VR will be released there first at some point.
Hopefully it will be accessible in this summer, but I'm still working on that.
My Patreon will be well planned out from the beginning with weekly releases with at least 4 months of content already in the works, and I'm looking forward to build a community there as well. Some of these content are screenshots, and videos, but there will be some old-ass never before seen projects of mine. So, that's going to be embarrassingly fun I guess lol

And once again, thank you so so so much for your support, and interest in my games.
I have a Ko-Fi page where you can further support me.

Thank you!

Edit: oh uh and I also have plans to release the CHORDOSIS OST there, and a detailed sound effects guide with downloadables.

Hey,
I would absolutely like to do that, but not in the near future.

These Windows builds/updates sometimes takes weeks to test out before I finally able to release them, and with the episodic nature of CHORDOSIS, a MacOS release would delay stuff significantly.

Besides that I'm also simultaneously working on a separate VR release, so I'll add MacOS to the list for sure!

Thank you for asking tho, the higher the demand for a MacOS release the sooner it comes.

Currently I think it will be possible after the EP3.

Thanks!

Thank you! It meas a lot!

Hey!

So, my unprofessional ass packaged and released CHORDOSIS with 'debug messages', but I quickly updated the game to a build without it back in September last year, and also I pushed so many builds/updates since then with the same exact frontend.

@mhellyar
Could you please tell me what's the version of CHORDOSIS you running? (just press "v" while ingame, or enable the "version/revision text" in the options menu.)
You might playing with a really really old build lol.

@Synax
You are absolutely right, but I have r.Streaming.PoolSize 3200 by default and I also not using r.Streaming.UseFixedPoolSize, to keep it somewhat dynamic.
Also, after detecting an above RTX 20** card with at least 6gbvram the game auto resolves to the command of r.Streaming.MaxTempMemoryAllowed in the first boot. It's just a line in the persistent level.
At first this was scary, but I spent a lot of time testing this out, and the RT build of the game never went above 4000. Mostly cause the tight level streaming I have with my own culling for particles and such. (uh, and static culling in CHORDOSIS is also ridiculous haha. that fog you know.. lol)
I'm also not really using 4K texture maps, so that cuts a lot.

I'm really looking forward to resolve this tho, and thank you for the feedback!

Hey!

Thank you for the feedback! As just a dude making this game, it's really really helpful to get these. Thank you!

Well, I rewrote the inventory system for the forth time already lol, and I think it's finally stable within a bigger scale. (the invsys was by far the most complicated, challenging but fun thing I've ever made so far)

The inventory item detection (the thing that bugged out), was worked well till around 40 fps, but when it came to 80 and above it started to break apart.
As of now, I finally have a relatively decent pc to work with, thanks to the overwhelming support around my game, but I've made CHORDOSIS on a really old low end 12years old CPU, so I had no chance to get my frames above around 65 at an absolutely max.
This was okay, for optimizing a relatively realistic game like mine for wider range of configs, but it also come with the downsides inside my code.

As of further development, I'm still using my oldass config for testing to achieve that 60fps on it. Optimizing is a pain in the bumbum but it's just so well worth it and I really do care!

And about the control bindings, I already coded them in to the game, but its just really buggy so far, so the option is not expanded to players right now, it's hidden.
But of course, there will be more options for it in the future. I actually have a cool ass menu for that :D

Thank you again for the feedback and for all of the kind words!
Truly means a lot!

Hey,
Thank you for the awesome feedback, it's really helpful!

There's a lot happening around with my game in these weeks, and mostly on the law side of things, now my tax has been raised from 30% to 60% in Hungary... kinda wild and sad.. But everything was noted and I'm really thankful!!!

From the beginning I always had a big focus on accessibility, so there will be more settings to that in the future. Some of them are already there but buggy and hidden lol.
Uh, and also, I have a friend who owns this insane screen with a 32:9 ratio, and she's helping me out testing CHORDOSIS on it. (thanks Maya)

These new features will be pushed with the release of the second episode (mostly, but some maybe earlier), which is gonna be a just an update for all the founders here.

Thank you again!

Dear Fenekie,

Thank you for reaching out, and thank you for the feedback. Please make sure:

  • You have free disk space on the drive CHORDOSIS is located and the drive Windows is located.
  • Make sure you've extracted the game, and it does not run from the compressed .zip file. It's impossible to make save files inside the .zip. (or, just simply use the itch.io app to download the game)
  • Right click on the "CHORDOSIS - FOUNDERS EDITION.exe" and select 'Run as administrator"

I'll do my best to reply as much as I could, and as quickly as I could.
I'm working on a built-in feedback system for CHORDOSIS since the beginning, but it's still not as good as I want it to be.
You can press SHIFT+O to open the in-game feedback system.

I'm leaning towards on an official discord server before Steam and/or console releases, where I could even stream some of the development process, and provide more insight into CHORDOSIS. One of my ever main goals is to be absolutely open about the game and it's current state, especially for founders.
But as of now, I don't have a capable enough PC to simultaneously develop the game and stream it, but with your support this will change in the next couple months. :)

Hope this helps and hope you'll have fun with my game!
Thank you Fenekie,
Adam

Thank you so so much! It keeps me going! I'm literally just a dude making this game in my bedroom, it means sooo much!!!

I don't have the privilege to test out the game on ultrawidescreen. Any reports on that will be more than welcome.
Please reach out to me via email at adamdubigames@icloud.com

I would love to put your name in the credits, if that's fine with you.

Thank you for the feedback.

Please keep in mind that as of now, CHORDOSIS is not out on Steam, and it doesn't have a dedicated installer.
Please be careful, make sure your version of the game is legit, and not a scam.
The itch.io version here is the only legit version for now.

I'm not sure why mouse-clicks only register in the UI. If you have a gamepad, please try to disconnect it, and try to click outside the game and back in.
Make sure nothing is "stealing" your mouse input. OBS or Streamlabs likes to do that.
Also, the van's door only gets intractable when you pick-up the in-game controller from the bed. You can open the door by holding the left mouse button and dragging the mouse.

Thank you,
Adam

Thank you so much for your feedback, and for attaching a video even. Truly helps a lot.
I'm really sorry, your mail went to spam and I completely missed them.
I will be more careful from now on.

Your CPU scored "12901" on cpubenchmark.net.
This is great, basically anything is good above 5000 for 4K@30

Your GPU should be also great for around FullHD@30 gameplay, but keep in mind that CHORDOSIS is a brand new next-gen title and it uses a lot of new technologies that were not available when your GPU was released in 2016.

However, I wanted to push the game out to as many people as possible, so I even delayed the release to include NIS natively. (fog disabling and more fog settings are also in the works, and they should help with older configs)

I tested CHORDOSIS on a 1060 6GB GPU with NIS enabled and everything worked fine.
The only thing I noticed that NIS doesn't support "borderless fullscreen".
I used this pretty cool guide to troubleshoot:
https://appuals.com/nvidia-image-scaling-not-working/

And about the FOV.
I get this requested a lot, so I'll definitely include a FOV slider in the future, but it will need a lot of testing.

CHORDOSIS has a dynamic FOV system, and it defaults back to 105, which is a relatively large number, because... well, while I get it why, I just really hate small FOV in horror so I tried to cap it to as high as possible. (for an example RE7 FOV ls capped at 90.)
There's no way to go above 105 as the game starts to fall apart.

The slider will express the option to the player to change the FOV between 80 - 105

Thank you so much again for your feedback, and I'm sorry I missed your mail.
If you experienced this in the past and you think it could be helpful, then feel free to hit me up and I could ask Apple what's up. Might help.

Thanks,
Adam

Hey,

Thank you so so much for your support!!!
Yes absolutely!
I'll reach out in the very near future in bulk from my official email.

UPDATE: THE ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED BY ITCH

Please read this before commenting here about failed downloads of itch games.

itch.io is currently going through a CDN migration, and there are several issues with game downloads.

Please keep in mind that neither I nor the community can do anything about it, except itch.

Unfortunately, there was a small peak of hate speech in the comment section of my game due to this issue.
I'm sorry you had to go through an issue like this, whether it's for paid or free games.

I'm sure itch is working really hard on their process, and for further questions, please reach out to them.

Hey!
Thank you for reaching out!

A couple things to check:

  • Have you extracted the compressed .zip? Right click on "chordosis-win-founders.zip" and select the "Extract All" option.
  • Based on your system, make sure you have the correct drivers installed.
  • Install the "UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe".
  • Make sure you have some free diskspace!
  • Try to run the game as an admin. Right click on the CHORDOSIS.exe then select "Run as administrator"

If the problem still occurs, please reach out to me via email at adamdubigames@icloud.com
Thank you!

Amazing! Have fun! :)

Sorry, just try to refresh the store page. The debit option should be there now.

And yes, eventually there will be a Steam release in the future, but it will be episodic.

Thank you!

Hey,
The price is for the FOUNDERS EDITION, which contains the whole game and an additional founders episode.

Hey! I heavily recommend using the official itch.io software on your PC.

It works the same way as Steam does, and as I almost daily push out updates for CHORDOSIS, you will always play the most recent versions with it.

An update from even the earliest builds is about 150mb and adds more settings and new areas to discover.

Hey, Thank you for the feedback and for all of your kind word.
I have a 2080ti, and I'm targeting 4K 60 Ultra with it.

I think you might be CPU-bound, so DLSS actually makes things worse in that case.
Hope you'll be able to record it fluidly.
I'm focusing heavily on optimization, I'm actually working on some additional fog settings just right now, to give some more breath for older GPUs with the translucency. Nothing too impactful, but still..

Thank you,
Adam

Thank you for your kind words magg1es. Truly means a lot :)

Wish you the best with your health, and please be careful. The game can have some really bright lights and loud sounds, nothing stroboscopic, but I'd imagine it still could be uncomfortable.

Please follow what your doctor says. If you end up playing the game, there's a save system that pretty much works throughout the whole game, so you could just take a break if you need to.

Thank you again!
Best wishes,
Adam

Thank you for the kind words, and for point it out to me.
Small bugs like these can be hard to find :D
Fixed it already! An update with more stuff will be available soon.
Thanks! :)
