I really like the idea of moving inside the tram, it is original and makes us think differently than in usual vehicle games. I could have a very fun potential with variations (it makes me think of being on a boat rather than in a tram, where the position of passengers influences the way it moves ^^)
I really like the concept, it is original and i found it very relaxing. The first time was kind of hard, but once you understand how it works it is nice.
I agree with the comment below that says that when there is no object right in the middle it is harder, but if it was not a short jam game it could be a parameter to create variation in the difficulty of the levels, but for 3h I find it very well done :)
Thank you for your comment !!
Yes I will definitely add feedbacks, I’m bad at sound design so I will also try to impove the visual feedbacks in addition to trying to find sounds that fit.
And thanks for the idea of the gap in the obstacle during the texts. I realized it was difficult to read while playing, i intended to make the texts last a little longer, but simplifying the level at the same time is a great idea :) (Ideally I wanted the texts to be half scripted and half interacting with the actions of the player, something like in The stanley parable, but i don’t know if I will push the polish to this point)
Thank you very much for your detailed comment ! It means a lot to me to see you understood and liked what I wanted the players to feel :)
And thank you for streaming the game. It is nice to see someone I don’t know play the game. The stick is definitely too hard to find, I will improve it.
About your questions during the stream : the hue variation option is for colorblind people. Only a few colorblind people see in black and white, most see some colors so by changing the colors I hope they can find colors they can see. And the ZQSD controls are for french keyboards, we don't have QWERTY keyboards^^
The ending is magic. I think it's probably more interesting than if it was "finished" in a normal way ^^. The narration at the beginning creates expectation for something original, then the gameplay changes completely and you almost believe that you are playing a mundane fun game, and then …
thanks for this experience
I loved the story, this is such a good idea, it gives meaning and depth to the gameplay. And the art style goes well with the atmosphere. It is a bit discouraging when all the plastics appear after you finish cleaning the first area, but it goes well with the message because yeah cleaning the ocean is not something you can do in 2 minute ^^
Thank you very much for your comment :)
Yeah the stick is too difficult to find, I will definitely improve the level design of the area outside the race so that it is easier, and maybe put more sticks.
It was difficult to find the balance balance between the frustration needed for the message and not making it impossible to play, so I’m glad you found it entertaining.
It is impresive that you made such a wide world and a rich gameplay for a jam, there is even the big monster that oneshot you, but it is cute ^^ I had fun exploring and finding tons of plastic.
The only thing that I didn’t find well balanced is the fishing mechanic, sometimes a struggled for a long time to cach one, maybe making their hitboxes a little bigger would help.
I really like the visual style, it's really polished for a jam game ! And I love the simplicity and elegance of your water shader.
The only problem I had was that I struggled to understand where were the safe zones, as an other comment said I think it would help to have a visual indication other than the text in the corner, because like this you feel totally powerless when the shark arrives and you don’t know where to go to be safe.
