Great take on the theme, awesome art. I just also want to add that I think the audio was very well done as well! I love that each theme had a unique atmosphere to it which added a lot to the quality of the game. Well done!

I love the concept for the game and the way you interpreted the limitation, I can see this being taken further in to a full game. The aesthetic of the characters and gameplay kind of reminds me of vampire survivors in a way. The only criticism I have is that the movement is stopped every time you attack. I would've preferred a more bullet hell style experience w/ run and gun. Great work!

I appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to be able to create a main menu with information on how to play so I understand the confusion. The barrel being inaccessible from the bottom was an unintentional bug so thanks for pointing that out, I didn't notice that in the initial testing.

Thanks!

oof! Thank you for letting me know, looks like I uploaded the wrong file. This issue has been since rectified. Please let me know if you run into another issue unpacking and launching the game.

Yeah I understand, if I had enough time I would've tried to give better visuals to explain but basically when you walk through a glyph your keybinds change depending on the glyph.  I sort of ran out of time and the only way to fully understand the mechanic is to read to description. Thanks glad you gave it a try regardless!

Glad you enjoyed the art, I had a lot of fun making it! :D

Been so interested in these historical games that have shown up a few times. I'll have to do some research on the Akkadian Empire. I've never heard of it but google says its Mesopotamia which I've never heard it called Akkadian before. Thanks for the historical knowledge and enjoyable game experience!

Seriously impressive that you accomplished this with only 1 month of programming experience. Great work! Unfortunately there was a bug, I assume it was a bug at least, where I was unable to jump while on top of the box for whatever reason so I couldn't really figure out how to get past the first level. I think it had something to do with the collider checks when checking comparing tags or layers or however you chose to identify them. Good luck on future projects! I was always scared to post when I just started, would join jams but never post anything cuz I could never muster the courage. You should be proud of yourself for that regardless.

Great use of the limitation. I like the idea of trying to decipher the rules of the game and it is surprisingly simple. I've never played the original game of Ur so I had no idea what was going on but I was eventually able to figure it out after a few plays. Great job!

Great use of the limitation! I found it to be a pretty satisfying experience and was able to get to the 17th wave. Glad you were able to submit your game!

Got 52 seconds 😎

If possible, try to add an html or webgl version so you can avoid the download.

I appreciate your thoughtful response. Glad you didn't find the difficulty too much of a pain, I was afraid the second level would be too much too early.

Had to one up the other post by getting 15 seconds: https://i.imgur.com/7uUU8Tl

This game gives me the old retro doom vibes except 3d with portal cubes. I like how smooth the controls are as well.

Appreciate it!

Thanks, I love your take about rewiring your brain, glad that came across!

😁

The controls were very fluid and the level design was great! I think my favorite part was the big room gauntlet with the swinging axes. Interesting idea to reuse the same level with enemies and translations to the text. Something I learned from my platformer was that when you hold down jump and hit your head, your character for a moment is still "jumping" even though that's a bit unrealistic. I think I'll update my game to add a trigger on the head the forces the jump to end when my character hits his head. You could consider it a choice but I think it will make the game seem a little more polished. Great work!

Love the art and I appreciate the choice of a short story. I wish there was more mechanics that revolved around the turn based movement but I understand with the time constraints it can be difficult. Either way the story was very funny and enjoyable. Great stuff!

Reminds me of slenderman. Very creepy and atmospheric.

I love the store screen filled with a bunch of actual advertisements haha! I like the light-hearted nature of your game and the overall idea.

I love the stars, they look so cute!

Love the art style and going around finding out what everyone was saying the whole time was interesting. The  music was great because it never felt too intrusive and was fun to listen to the whole way through. Great job!

Haha fair point, he can jump that high but can't swim... Maybe I should pick one 😂

Thanks for playing and I appreciate the rating!

For some reason when I try to run it nothing happens, nothing appears and there is nothing in my taskbar either.

Be sure to let me know if you figure it out. When you download it yourself and try to run the executable does it work?

I was able to get 15 and at one point I accidentally launched one of the other boxes into the correct box with the box I was holding. I was not expecting that! At first I was thinking, well there is no real way for me to be any faster at doing this until I found out you could use the physics system to move more than one box at a time. Really cool emergent gameplay if that was intentional. Great work!

Had to post this: https://i.imgur.com/ZlYbbVb

lmao....

Why is she looking at me like that... 😳

In all seriousness this is a very unique idea, and at first I was just pressing random buttons at first not really thinking it means anything but to see the replay of it in English is so good. I think I'm into megalodons now...

Usually the game will have like other data files besides just the executable.

All I see is this .exe when I download: https://i.imgur.com/hN5lIIK

Hey, unfortunately I was unable to play the game. It seems the download is just an executable file. Is this intentional? Let me know if there is something I am doing wrong

It took me a few tries but I was able to fully decipher each of the fish! I got a 150 score after I restarted with this knowledge. Fun game and works with the limitation very well!

Love the style! It took me a moment to figure out but I was able to read the orders and start the kiln. I couldn't really figure out how to take the ingots out though. Very cozy game, I can see this becoming some kind of blacksmith simulator in the future with enough work.

Great work man! We all start somewhere and this is great work for your first ever finished project. You should be proud of yourself!

I understand how it is to not be able to get to the sound stage of the game. I myself was only really able to get a song in and that's it! Regardless you made a cool dungeon crawler that can certainly be expanded into something in the future. Good work!

Love the art style and the controls were so clean. I feel like this wasn't said enough but the title layout and font is awesome. Really digging it!

Love the graphics! Pixel artists, UNITE! I love that you guys chose to keep everything on the pixel axis.
