Thank you :)

Oh my god this makes me really mad about myself. I know that my game is not great and not awesome and I don't want to flaunt, but I'm sad cuz I didn't actually submit it TO the jam (only published it, but not to the jam) and now the jam's over :(((((((((((( https://beginnersophie.itch.io/fly-for-world-dominance is my game. There's no proof that I didn't go overtime but I followed the rules and published it about 16 hours before the jam ended. You don't have to play it, it's just the place where I put my game because I forgot to put it in the submissions.

Um my game is like 30 second lmao

it can be a crap game all we want is a game tho

never give up

95% ish cuz i didnt polish my main menu/end scenes

(1 edit)

Um idk i honestly didnt think of that you could get more fish i guess but I typed the whole thing really quick because I panicked about you not having an idea yet

Also, when you start off, start with basic art first (sketches or something) or even no art at all and go program...

Your art is important but with no gameplay it's useless.

Here's what your priority should be:

1. Programming major gameplay

2. main art

3. sounds/music

4. small art/ minor features programmed

gogogogogogooooooooooo

hey if you submit a crap game then whatever you get the experience and you get the fun and that's the best part

AHHHHHHHHHH GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGGOGOGOGO YOU GOT THIS YOU GOT THIS YOU STILL HAVE TIME CMON GO GO GO GO GO

noice i need main menu and I'm done

Many things are stronger together. People, animals, machines that work together, etc.

Pick something. It can be really really broad. For example, you can pick animals because they are stronger together.

Ok so let's say you picked animals (u pick whatever) now take that section and find a smaller section like  PENGUINS

Yay now the game's about penguins being together (again, this is just an example) now you have to  think of the question WHY?

Why is your character here? What does he/she want?

Maybe in our penguin game this penguin got lost and wants to rejoin the group. Maybe they're trying to get offspring. Or fish. Idk.

Also if you do like this penguin idea you're welcome to use it cuz my thing is actually about flies

ALRIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT let's see you basically have like one day.

First come up with your idea. What is stronger together?

Devlog 3:

Forget the buzz sound. It doesn't work.

Yay music. (bosca ceoil music that's really really bad)

A lot of facts. A LOT.

GO GO GO

I was 3 days behind and I'm fine you can do this

wowwoow

C'mon, you can do this!!! Also try ramping up on programming. You can skip the sounds if you need to... but it's better not to. Also, you don't need a starting and ending screen, so focus on the main gameplay!

Thanks!

Devlog 2:

Main gameplay finished (it's a clicker game...)

Finished adding AudioManager

Started to make audio effects (tapping on tables, clapping hands, etc.)

Researching about flies (I. Hate. The. Pictures.)

Void "awake" runs at the start of the scene, but it runs BEFORE the void "start"

Cool! That sounds awesome!

yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa let's not talk about that...

Im making a game where you play as a fly aiming for world dominance by annoying the world (and getting more flies)
aka a clicker game...

You can make your own music or ask for someone else's... I'm just going to hope that my bosca ceoil music isn't that bad!

Devlog 1:

I had an idea that you play as a fly hoping for world dominance, but they are stronger together. So you need to annoy the world and attract more flies to your cause. I'm also thinking that if I have time I might add a random fact about flies so it'll be a bit educational.

I did all of the art but none of the coding yet (using Unity) so here's what the page looks like:

cool!

Oh my god those tutorials were so helpful that I got an idea now! Thank you so much for the advice and good luck for the rest of the jam!

I have no idea what to do and I'm panicking

Same but I have a lot of way-too-hard ideas

My name doesn't lie - I'm a total newbie

Yay same!!! My games are horrible as well and if I'm on anyone's team, I'll prob ruin their project...

awesomeeeee

That's fine and good luck on the game jam :)

Unityyyyy

I'm pretty sure I once saw a scratch game in a game jam. Dunno what they did but yeah. Also, I really advise you to check out Unity, Unreal, or other game engines! They have a bit more power than scratch and aren't as hard as they look.

Yeah... Unity fan... sorry, I tried Unreal once and it was sort of daunting  😅

Cool!

Oh ok, sorry to hear that! Do you think there's anyway I can resubmit this?

Oh ok, try to make it fullscreen?

Alright, at the time YOU posted that, it was 6 54 AM for me. That makes it an 8 hour difference. If you wanna team, I only have Hangouts (google) and Discord for it.
