Correct, which is odd isn't it? However, I lose complete control and its only ambient noise and whatever background music was playing.

I'm going to try an older build later and see how that goes. I only started having this problem with the recent build.

Nah just locks up, hear things just fine.

Unfortunately, it did, I assume it was an overheat. Which I think is crashing VOTV too. However the other game has no problems with the new thermal paste. Bouncing around 50-60c

Contacted MSI, they blame the game =/

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but I troubleshooted the heck out of it and haven't figured it out. For some reason the game spikes my CPU temperature to a ridiculous degree. Other games barely going over 60c while VOTV hit's 90c and while spiking erratically from 60c and up. I have a thread that goes over all my attempts to resolve this.

Have an update, I put on some new thermal paste and it did a fine job. However, the game still crashed as did my pc. I was looking at how the cpu temperature was handling and it was spiking all over the place, again going into the 90c range. In other apps I don't have this problem. I'm thinking it's not only heat that's the problem but a side effect of something else.

Monitored the temps and the CPU got pretty spicy at a top of 94c. So I am definitely getting some new thermal paste. Gonna have geek squad do it though because it looks very complicated in there.

Bought it from amazon. It's a Katana 15 B12V

I had a talk with MSI to figure out what was going on. They had me update my Firmware and other optional windows updates, including my GPU which I neglected to do.

For posterity the update was Micro-Star International., Ltd -Firmware - 3.0.1.2

With some audio and adapter updates.

They also suggested that it might be an overheating issue and recommended I renew the thermal paste. So, I'm going to monitor that.

I will update if anything else happens. I hope this helps anyone else if they come across this problem.
And thank you for helping me.

Thank you

I think it might be overheating because it happened with another game. I'm a bit surprised honestly.

LiverKernelEvent 141 is what the error is reading in the reliability monitor.

I'll do my best, not sure if i want to risk it though. Just got this laptop for 1.4k

No actually, may be worth a shot.

Correct!

Makes it non functional, so unable to do anything other than turn it off. Even then I have to force it to by holding the button down. I'm not sure if I'm using the word crash right. No blue screen or anything like that.

Yeah sure, sorry slow reply. Busy lad.

12 gen intel core processor i7-12650H

GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU

16 GB ram

Windows 11 64 bit

That should cover it yeah? Laptop from MSI

High if not max settings with no performance issues full screen.

Far as a pattern goes, not particularly. Since it's only happened twice and I stopped playing to spare my pc any damage. But when it did crash, I was doing the basics. Running around the base doing some errands. Nothing out of the ordinary.  Maybe something in my world is corrupt?

It's been about 2 weeks since this happened and I was hoping I would get lucky with an early patch before starting it again. Obviously not a feature like that one thing I won't spoiler.

For more details it goes like this. I'll be playing and randomly black screen. Unsure what was causing it. I can hear the game sounds, but controls seem to be taken from me. I could not minimize, alt f4, or open task manager. So I had to shut the pc down. After the 2nd time it happened and I went from black screen to a blank reddish orange one. I figure I shouldn't touch it again until next update or I get a solution.

Any have any idea what's going on? I'd like to fix it since idk when the next patch is.
