Awesome jam game! I thought the puzzle mechanics were really clever and incorporate the theme in a really creative way.

I don't usually play rhythm games, but I really like the pixel art style and sound design of this game. The one track is great, would be cool to see multiple songs added!

Really great game! A tutorial is needed, but I figured out how to play from the comments! My strategy was to go for all the squares with 4 different colored turtles first (because they don't need to be rotated) Also, I didn't realize at first that the bumps on the circles on the left were indicating the same thing that the colors of the circles were (which is super helpful for colorblind players like myself)

Great interpretation of the theme! I thought the climbing mechanics and player animations were really well done and the leaderboard is a great touch.

Great jam game! I thought the scaling mechanic was a solid interpretation of the theme and a great way to add a puzzle element to a top down 2D game!

Congrats on your team's first game jam! I thought Square Escape was really fun, well polished, and a clever take on the sliding-grid puzzle game that tied in the jam's theme subtly yet meaningfully.

Great game and jam submission! It reminds me of speed running building a house in Minecraft. I thought, the two slot inventory system as a stack worked really well for the building system, especially paired with the facing/pick up  mechanic.

Sure do! Add my discord (bifrostguardian) and send me a message to let me know its you.

Awesome. If you could do SFX and music that would be great. Add me on discord so we can communicate better: bifrostguardian

Edit: Send me a message once you add me on discord so I know it is you.

Hi I am BifrostGames, an intermediate indie developer. I've done group and solo work, so I have exerience in all aspects of game development.

For this jam, I'd like to write the code. I am looking for

Artists: art, animations, either 2D or 3D works, you choose the art style

Sound Designers: music, sfx, or both, open to many styles

Looking to have fun with this jam developing an idle game. Contact me if you are interested

You can press P to pause the game, and then select "No" when asked if you want to continue.

Unfortunately you cannot use the score boxes to hide behind XD

Stay tuned for a difficulty curve update coming soon...

Great game! Made me want to keep playing. However, getting all upgrade dice when I had nothing to upgrade was very upsetting. I do think I made it to second on the leaderboard though

A set-up period would be nice and a way to pick between rolling an upgrade or a critter. Also being able to roll multiple dice at a time

Awesome concept. I almost went with a similar idea where you rolled dice and chose which stats to apply them too.

Some notes:

  • The player hit box felt too big
  • Felt like not enough space to move around
  • I like that enemies drop ammo, but having them have a chance to drop health would be helpful

I love this! So creative to make a clicker-game based on "roll of the dice"

Fun and creative puzzle game!

Very simple yet creative idea. Once I developed a strategy it became quite enjoyable. I love the aesthetic of the art

Very polished! I like all the different abilities and enemy types

Great sound design as well

I like the main shapeshifting mechanic and the different move mechanics for each animal. The Pangolin was my favorite to use.

It was a little glitchy at times

Really challenging yet fun game. I love the art style

Really well done!

The wall jump was a little unforgiving, and taking so much environmental damage was annoying (it almost felt worth it to go back to the nearest rest stop to heal after hitting spikes once because two hits and I'm dead). The smallest blobs are also annoying because they can only be shot while they are jumping, but I guess that adds to the difficulty.

I really love the art, music, and story telling!

That was the original intent for the role of the AI character. Didn't make the cut before the deadline unfortunately, but could be present in a future update.

I was wondering if anyone would find the jump-attack glitch. I thought it would be hard enough to find to worry about fixing it before the deadline

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for playing! In game guidance was the thing I was most bummed I didn't have time to add. If I have any future updates it'll be added for sure

Thanks for playing and giving feedback. I'm looking forward to going back and fixing a lot of these issues.

In the mean time, I'll definitely be checking out your teams game
