I was already cursing that frikkin vase, but at last I got it over. I maxed out that sensitivity bar for more fine control (which seemed counter-intuitive), otherwise I would probably still be yelling... I can't imagine anyone completing this in normal mode, easy-mode was hard enough xD still a great game, just really challenging
I just found it after the rating ended, congratulations on the first story place. You create an excellent mood and the music was a good choice. Great game, not sure on the theme but maybe thats just my "ascended" ending. After completing I wanted to restart, but the player sprite was missing afterwards.
My favorites were Free Francis, absolutely hillarious https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-jam-2024/rate/2730935 and Extinction denied https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-jam-2024/rate/2739501 a well made dinosaur game. I've rated 53 games so far, I actually scrolled through the list and bookmarked everything that caught my eye. Many games are a bit loose on the theme though. Not sure how many I can still play before voting ends
Reading comments there seem to be more levels, but I couldn't click on the buttons of the victory screen. For me the most feasable tactic seemed to be to sacrifice a cheap swarm to have enough coins to build tanks the next round, after that I could just walk through the towers. Besides that it seemed pretty complete with upgrades and multiple units, but a little need of balance finetuning.
It seems like you used godot? If you use dialogic too, you can add a variable (i.e. "dialog2completed" or something) and set it at the end of the dialogue and also add an label there. Then you can either check at the begin of the dialogue if the variable is set, if not you can jump to the label you created at the end or check it in code before you call Dialogic.start("...").
As an alternative without dialogic you can use an autoload-class where you create a variable and check this before you start the dialogue, this way it won't get overwritten when you reload the current scene, because it is saved outside of it. There are probably more ways to do it, you'll figure something out ;)
I like both art-styles (the animated and the static ones), but the mixture is a bit odd. Sadly I didn't understand what I had to do in the second chapter with the cat. I ran around a bit with ups and downs and always ended up respawning. It would be nice to skip dialogue after a respawn. Would have liked to see how it goes on (I love magic or witch themes), but its almost 1am here, going to bed now xD
