I absolutely love the pixel art style, especially the way both the cards and the 3D models maintain that pixelated aesthetic. It’s visually consistent and adds a lot of charm to the game. The "jazz-like" music that plays during the tarot card interactions is fantastic—I found myself humming along to the melody, which adds a relaxed, enjoyable vibe to the gameplay.

While the art and music are strong, I’m still trying to understand how the gameplay fits with the game jam’s theme, especially when it comes to the risk and reward mechanics. It feels like the AI card placement could be more tied to the theme of escalating risk. Perhaps you could introduce a system where players unlock more powerful cards when they win. On the flip side, if they lose, a random card in their deck could lose its value, adding a strategic risk element to the game.

The pixel art for both the cards and the models is beautifully done, and the consistency between the 2D and 3D elements is impressive. It creates a cohesive and visually appealing experience.

You’ve done a great job with the audio, and it pairs wonderfully with the game.

Overall, the experience was really enjoyable. The music and pixel art are definite highlights that give the game a unique and polished feel.

Tying the risk and reward mechanics more closely to the theme and adding consequences for winning or losing could help strengthen the gameplay loop and make the experience even more engaging.

The environment, along with the models and setting, creates such an eerie atmosphere. It really captures the feeling of mystery and suspense, which works beautifully with the setting.

The spinning wheel concept is also a great touch and adds a unique gameplay element that stands out.

However, the game feels a bit incomplete in its current state. I was unable to use some of the key elements like the hammer, horse race, or the shooting range more than once.

Adding functionality to these features would really help enhance the experience and make it feel more polished.

Additionally, it could benefit from more variation in the objectives.

For example, having the challenges change with each spin of the wheel would tie the gameplay more closely to the theme of unpredictability and risk.

The UI is well-designed and effectively conveys what the challenges are.

It helps guide the player clearly, which is a great strength of the game.

To further build on the eerie vibe, it might be interesting to incorporate a losing condition tied to a horror theme, such as introducing a creepy character—maybe an evil clown—who reacts negatively if the player fails.

This would add tension and increase the stakes, making the game more thrilling.

The eerie environment, combined with the unique spinning wheel mechanic, creates an intriguing and mysterious atmosphere that kept me engaged.

Enhancing the interactivity of the game’s features, such as allowing reuse of the hammer or shooting range, and incorporating a losing condition based on the theme could make the experience more complete and immersive.

I found myself deeply immersed, especially with how the climbing mechanic (what a lovely touch withe the main menu great way to learn the mechanic immediatly) and character interactions work together to build the world and narrative. It’s a captivating experience that keeps you engaged.

It feels immersive and adds a unique element to the game. I also enjoyed the interactions with other characters, which provide great lore and context to the story. It really pulls the player into the world and explains how the character arrived at this point—absolutely love this aspect!

The texture art is a great choice, giving the game a beautiful storybook-like appearance that feels cohesive throughout the experience.

The music adds a lot to the atmosphere—it has a jungle vibe that fits seamlessly with the outdoor climbing elements. It enhances the sense of adventure, and I loved how it contributed to the overall feeling of exploration.

The climbing mechanic, character interactions, and art style all work together beautifully, creating a highly engaging and immersive game. The music ties it all together with a fitting jungle vibe.

Consider increasing mouse sensitivity for smoother gameplay, especially for players with limited desk space. This small tweak could make a big difference in comfort and playability.

I truly enjoy how simple the gameplay is. The premise of "run in and get out" is simple yet entertaining. I really enjoyed how the doors changed with each attempt, making the game more tough and surprising. This keeps the gamer on their toes and adds an element of strategy.

The movement controls feel a little too touchy at times, particularly near the doors, where I periodically get trapped.

Slowing down the action or making the entrances bigger may assist lessen frustration and allow for more fluid gameplay.

The visual style is incredibly charming and goes well with the story. The adorable look enhances the overall experience and lends the game a light-hearted atmosphere.

I thoroughly like the game, particularly the unpredictability of the doors and the fast-paced speed of the gameplay.

It's simple to pick up, and each attempt seems unique owing to the door changes.

The soundtrack is a remarkable feature—it has a fast-paced rhythm that complements the hectic action and elevates the overall experience.

The ever-changing doors represent the concept of growing risk, as each run feels more difficult and demands quick thinking. The game does an excellent job at capturing the "Midnight Staircase" theme, in which every action presents both opportunity and peril.

The unpredictability of the doors adds to the sensation of escalating stakes, but you may consider adding more layers of risk or reward, such as brief power-ups or penalties, to heighten the suspense.

The fast-paced gameplay, appealing art style, and dynamic door system make for a fun, engaging experience.

Consider altering the movement sensitivity or door size to make navigation easier.

You could also experiment with introducing new gameplay components, such as power-ups or different types of tasks.

I really enjoyed the environment you created—it gives a strong sense of exploration, which pulled me into the world immediately.

The character animations, especially with the long legs, add such a fun and comic visual flair. It’s one of my favorite aspects of the game! The challenge provided by the frequent enemy spawns also kept me engaged throughout.

That said, the game could benefit from some additional polish. One suggestion would be to include clearer visual indicators, such as how many enemies need to be defeated (e.g., 20 skeletons or 7 jelly-like creatures). This would help guide players more effectively during combat. You could also consider adding a timer to create a sense of urgency and make the game feel more fast-paced.

For shooting mechanics, I recommend looking at Death's Door for inspiration. The current cursor aiming system can be a bit confusing, especially when trying to aim in specific directions. A potential solution would be to lock and hide the cursor, and instead, implement a UI element at the bottom of the character that rotates based on mouse movement. This could make aiming feel more intuitive.

I’d also love to see a wave-based progression system added, where completing each wave increases the challenge. After each wave, the player could upgrade abilities like “I cast fire” or melee attacks, making them more powerful as the enemies get tougher.

Overall, I had a lot of fun! I’ve already played the game six times—it’s simple to jump in and start casting fireballs, which makes it easy to enjoy without needing to master complex mechanics.

This was a lot of fun to throw a bowling ball, love some of the levels that create the best use of a bowling ball, love it. The zombies are hilarious to throw absolutely funny! I forgot about the barrier thing where you can put it close to the oven. I just spammed E and left-click till I broke through the barrier xD

Love the game and would love to see the game develop further! :D

Thank you so much for taking the time to play and provide feedback on our game, Tidy Turf!

We're really glad you liked the map design.

You're absolutely right, the time constraints of the jam did limit our ability to fully implement all the features we had planned.

We apologize for any confusion about the gear mentioned on the front page – due to the time crunch, we couldn't showcase them all effectively, but will include them with our next update.

Your suggestion about having a win screen and consequences for being the "stinky loser" is fantastic!

We'll definitely take that into consideration for our future updates.

Once again, thank you for playing and for your thoughtful input!
