I got too freaked out to finish it lmao

Nicely done, a little weirdly put together however.

I honestly don't know the answer to that, there might not be an answer? idk. I like C#, I think gdscript is based off it and godot uses c# as well. But i legit only know C# so i'm not the best source.

Pretty cool game! I got kinda stuck at the second boss but I loved the game and artstyle. Very useful inspo since i'm currently making a platformer for school based around sticky-jumping. Maybe varying the color of the tileste from area to area would help the sensation of advancing in the game, idk.

Yeah, I feel that. I would probably try something even simpler than a metroidvania if you have literally 0 coding skills, I just made a very tiny speedrun metroidvania as my 5th Unity game and I already had some understanding of code beforehand.Controling scope is everything, and right now you wanna not only make games but finish them too.

Consider using godot or unity! I found them much easier to learn than unreal's super cluttered UI and you'll get a hang of the code. Just start with much simpler 2D projects like a top-down shooter until you feel ready to go for a bigger project.

Here I was thinking this would be a cozy game about maximizing the money you make by being efficient and then... WHAM! EVIL TEETH. Absolutely amazing. I think it might be a bit too hard but maybe that's just skill issue on my part, maybe cleaning the non evil teeth during battle could heal you or something? Idk. Other commenters have already said this but I feel like cleaning teeth that are about to turn evil should stop them from turning evil, it would make the pre-fight super stressful as you try to improve your chances.  Another fun idea would be that if maybe you spray too much toothpaste into a customers eye they might get irritated and throw a bite at you. Also maybe making the upgrades more interesting than just like faster brushing or whatever, like maybe you can get dental floss that trails behind the drone or you could have some sort of cleaning grenade, idk. Overall amazing, the music and art are wonderful especially the designs of the monsters, I love them, hte gameplay is tough and exilarating and I honestly found myself really invested in the story and the wellbeing of these goofy monsters.

Thanks again for playing! We were planning to include music but ran out of time, we might update it sometime to include it!

Thankyou so much!

Thankyou so much! We wanted that exploring and learning the environment be part of the process it takes to be able to beat the game in time. I'm glad you enjoyed.

Tysm!

Tysm!

Here is mine! i'm at 19 reviews and i'd be very happy if someone could help me out. https://dawzome.itch.io/scroller

Done! Enjoy.

Sure! Gimme a sec

Thankyou so much!

Easily the best game I have played in this jam so far! I was deeply enthralled and very much scared. I couldn't figure out how to hide and I was too scared to try again haha. I really like how you have to be looking at an outlet to charge, and if you turn around to check if there's anything behind you you stop charging, the environment is also super claustrophobic and awful. Amazing experience!

I'll be honest, the lack of music is more due to the fact we ran out of time than a conscious decision. Yeah the ending is a bit meh, if I ever revisit this game i'll be sure to redo it. Thanks for playing! We really made an effort in the level design so i'm glad someone is appreciating it.

Absolutely charming little game, the graphics are gorgeous and the music is very nice. I don't really like the fall damage but I understand why it exists, it's just kinda hard to know what falls kill you and what falls don't and it's frustrating to loose a ton of progress over a tiny slip up. Overall though, great job, I had fun playing :)

Although the art and music are well done and the idea is pretty fun, in practice this game is just about grinding and isn't very fun, it's just a tycoon basically and none of your decisions feel like they matter. However the game is very polished and the theme is well executed.

Really fun! I like the idea of the writing on the walls guiding you when you can't see what's ahead. I find it kind of silly that you put fall damage in a platformer but I guess it is a rage game haha.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! It seems you understand pretty well what we were going for. Thanks for playing.

All the platforming bits are possible, but some of the crouch jumps are pretty hard. Thanks for playing and i'm glad you enjoyed!

Thank you so much! If you don't mind me asking, where you playing in full screen? I was having an issue where the time counter appeared super small when played on larger screens.

Ah the crouch jump got you, it's probably the hardest bit of the game but I promise it's not impossible. I'm glad you enjoyed what you got to play though :)

Nice! it's supposed to be pretty tight and not a whole lot of people have managed to get through the game so congrats!

Oof I getchu, cool that you're going to follow up on it though!

I had a lot of fun playing this! I do feel like there's not a whole lot of incentive to fight enemies, as it's very difficult to get any hits in without taking damage and wasting oxygen, but it's really satisfying to combo the harpoon gun into a knife hit to finish off an enemy.  The level generation is pretty good and the music and graphics are pretty good too.

Cute little game, tutorializiation and such are pretty well handled, the platforming feels sloppy and the artstyle isn't super congruent though. The stroy is pretty good and the audio is well handled. Good job!

Very cute! Lovely music and picel art and very cute ending. The pacing is pretty good and I never found something frustrating or anything. I do think that the game is overly simple and the puzzles never get too crazy but that's super understandable for a gamejam game and such. Very cool overall!

(1 edit)

I absolutely loved the sprites and the music is banging! I think it's a bit counterintuitive to make a game about speed that then punishes you for moving fast, but I get what you're going for of memorizing the level layouts and moving super gracefully from obstacle to obstacle. Also I had a weird issue where I got to the end of the first level and it didn't let me pass to the next level, maybe I missed some enemy I had to kill or something but it wouldn't let me restart the level so I dunno.

It's supposed to be a little confusing! hopefully it wasn't super frustrating, i'm glad you had fun! Thank you so much for playing.

There is a bit of coyote time but I added it in a very spaghetti way and it's not super helpful, thankyou for the suggestion. Thanks for commenting and playing! Makes me happy to hear people enjoyed it.

I'm glad you liked it! The part after the ground slam where you need to make a kind of precise crouch jump, or else you fall into a hole where you need to make a super precise crouch jump is super difficult, we included these sorts of sections cause we really wanted the player to try several times and master the movement truly, but maybe we went a little too far with those haha. Thank you so much for playing!

Thankyou so much! yeah the level generation is pretty buggy and I don't know how to fix it, it might just be a consequence of the way we did it. I'm working on a updated version of thr game where the weapons are rebalanced and I think they're a lot better. I'll work on thinking about music and enemies as well!

I ran unto the camera trouble a lot too, you can start going really fast if you use the kick of the weapons to move around, but then you sorta cant see anything in front of you. Thanks for the compliments and criticism, very helpful.

Very fun to move around the cat ball! Expert use of juice, definitely got my happy brain chemicals going. The physics sort of fall apart once you get bigger, and it might work better to have the dash be in any direction (controlled by WASD) so you can move more freely. I had lots of fun, easily most unique game i've played so far.

The feel of how the player character controls is superb, much better than most of the plataformers in this jam.  The art is very cute and wonderful and I enjoyed the game. Music was very good as well.

Very cool and original idea! controlling the ball mostly feels nice, only problem I see is that it isn't gonna break anything unless you really whack it, and doing that sort of makes you loose all control over the ball, so you end up just whacking it and praying it hits something. Very polished, looks nice and minimalistic, great sound design.

Very complete for a game jam, impressive!
