Hi all!
Im glad to say I keep developing this little tool, hopefully someone will start trying it out so I can refine it. The latest addition is the ability to make emitters out of GameMaker paths
https://twitter.com/DelfosAnimation/status/1658127213202403333
Currently this isn't very efficient, as I'm calculating the path for every particle from scratch (so, depending how many particles, a few hundred times a step).
Even so, its clocking 1600 frames with ~3k particles on screen. Not too bad for something not optimized in the slightest, imho.
Please refer to the git repository to download the current project. I expect to change a lot of the code to make it more efficient and more user friendly.
I would not advice to use this software in a production, but I would LOVE to see experiments with it, maybe we can push this to some crazy places.
Have fun!
And thanks a lot for the stream too! The heal takes a moment to happen (as you said, the animation has to play out first). We are still finessing the teach as it is a lot of mechanics being taught in a short amount of time, but watching you play helps a bunch to see where we can improve.
And yeah we've been working on it on the side of our regular jobs for about 2 and a half years now. Looking to have a solid vertical slice in a couple months.
Thanks for the feedback!
The teach of the controls is quite complex, we are still refining it.
And that's a good point about ending the level while inside the carriage, we will probably just eject the player out automatically. Thanks for mentioning it!
I'm not sure what you mean about the buildings blocking your bullets though, would you mind clarifying that for me?
Thanks again for playing ❤
Cute game!It took me a bit to understand how to buy new plants. Not sure if it was covered by the tutorial and I missed it or if it wasn't there at all.
Another thing I noticed is that sometimes I fulfilled an order but the plants didn't leave the shelf, duplicating the amounts of plants I had (1 that "fulfilled" the order and the one on the shelf).
It would also add to have some indication of the level of growth of the plant as it is not always apparent.
Hi KevinCow! I think the mechanic about grabbing columns was very cool, but everything else made the game a bit annoying. The speed of the robot made me have to wait for a few seconds when I knew I had screw up by not holding to the column enough. I think the "scribble" effect was really not matching the mechanic or the theme about the robot, and also made things difficult to see. The camera was also a bit too fast (a fixed camera or more rigid one would have suited better). I did not enjoy the graphics or the music, but I think you could improve it and make a nice cute game. Perhaps give the robot wheels a la Wall-e and make him go faster! Good luck!
Hello pit1s! Is a good idea for an arcade-y kind of game. I felt that the need to click more than once to eat the fruit wasn't all that necessary, and also eating the muffins was so fast, it was near impossible to avoid them (which I understand it was sort of the idea, but I felt it was too much). Perhaps you could build on this idea and add more than just 4 axis, and see the food coming instead of piling up on you (maybe the character would attract like a magnet to the sweets and you have to rotate him away). Cool idea, keep it up!
Hi Good_Vybe!! I tried your game, I have to say I couldn't figure out how to properly move forward, most of the time I just spun in place. But when I did got closer to my ship, the camera went crazy, so I ended up going past the ship. Good try, it looks nice and the music is very chill too, but I think being a little bit more in control . Cheers!
