I've been thinking a lot about the game story, and realize the game won't be attractive enough if shooting is the only feature in this game.

So I decided to destroy the old map, create a new one, then erase it and start over again (Yes, I created 3 new maps in one month and deleted all of them).

Which is the reason why there isn't any new update :( since most of the game functions are already completed. The only thing left is the game story.

I'm still worrying about the game art... but... there's nothing I can do...

Let's talk about the game story, each mission will be divided into two parts. Part 1 will be about a normal civilian experience with an anomaly event, and part 2 will be about a mobile task force being deployed into the event (sound like SCP right? 💀).

Part 1 will focus more on slow and stealth, while Part 2 will focus more on action and violation.

Above is a leak from Train 731 Part 1 that is planned to be released at the end of December. (hope so, since I have a lot of work in my university -.-)

Just added some SFX and am prioritizing the quality of each individual over creating a large variety.

Still trying to add more game juice and redesign the map to make it not lame for further player investigation.

Added more infestation details to the map!

I was spending a lot of time coding for shaders, bosses, and map story routes and got tired . . . So I moved back to making textures lol.

But... beware... the grasses are a bit high... perfect for something to lurk through it >:)

(I must get some sleep now...)

So basically I am squishing every juice of my brain to expanse the Underground Warehouse map 10 times for the campaign mode.

There will be multiple choices for players to complete the campaign and various endings.

(Remember! This is just a demo, and since I have no art designer and am currently doing solo, any textures update won't happen soon. But the gameplay and smoothing actions are being updated for a better experience!).

Also sorry for the low quality of my video . _ . maybe you will see it more clearly if you give my game a look directly. And yes, the campaign will be free (else no one will play it lol, currently at 22% progress).

Game saving won't be supported (for now), so the campaign won't be long. Thanks for your valuable time!

cute game, except I keep falling to the void due to skill issues lol

Just add rolling animation as a part of the movement update! the game update gonna come soon along with 1 new slow-walking enemy.

Just returned from sickness, and I'll start to focus on the game map now.

Just added grenades, maybe i'll let player time it while it still in hand. 🤕

Just added sliding animation, trying to make the game feel a bit faster? 🤔

You can try the game here: https://erza-lotus-arcane.itch.io/ashen-veil

Current version is prototype v1.0.4

Current map is just . . . for testing purposes.

Still on my way to adding more stuff and gameplay . . . I mean . . . a lot.

Since I have to working on a lot of enemies, guns, map textures along with scripts to run those . . .

Currently solo on this small project xD

Thanks for your valuable time and hope you will support it!!

Wow, the interesting here is that I don't know what game gonna come next! It's just so fun to play a game where the simple and arcade are combine perfectly

It's simple, convenient, and interesting to play! now we just need a portal gun lol

I was referencing some buff, orbiter strike, healing, reinforcement pods, etc being stored in "cards". The same also applies to units, since "I think" the square box will be more suitable for rts top-down game. And "maybe" the cards will allow you to show players the units' representative icon? (like you have a good frame around that unit icon? And will be able to display some info on that card like HP, Power, . . .)

And imagine if the enemy has an earthworm that eats your units from the back to cut off the supply lol. Maybe consider adding some defense towers/sentries on the path that you already occupy to slow enemy down??

Thanks!! also, there is a bug in the game that can let you . . . win . . . after the bomb is exploded lol

Thanks mate!! I have no idea what concept can fit this gameplay style at the beginning xD and somehow reference my current sickness to something more dramatic xd like a person getting infected and losing control of his body parts.

well, actually I only move the hand object around the cursor, not move the cursor. I only hide it, so basically, your cursor still follows your mouse smoothly and nicely! but not the hand . _ . Thanks for give it a try!

Thanks for giving it a try! And whoops, I guess I will expand the hitbox to the wire cutter!

Haven't played any game like this since a very long time ago. This is a good reminder, and definitely not suitable for children under 3 xD nice work!

Wow, the key of the impression here is the melody and the fun sound when you interact with the buttons. I really enjoyy itt!

Nice work! I can see a lot of potential in this game! imagine if you add cards system in this game lol

Thanks mate! The idea of this game was inspired by the time I was sick xD And here we go, a stressful and helpless game . _ .

You must hold the left mouse once your hand is on the cutter, if your hand gets out of the cutter zone while you still holding your left mouse, you will have to release and hold the left mouse the next time your hand is on the cutter again. This game is very stressful lol. Thanks for give it a try!

well, can not expect much from a game being developed in a very short amount of time. But nice work!

Yep, the current version is an unfinished project. The updated one will be posted after the jam ends. And I was about to add more events depending on how many you feed and train the humanoid. Also other interesting things. But for now, it's kind of boring since there is only 1 ending for the jam version. Thanks for your review!

Maybe when you are inside the lighthouse and look outside the window, when your flashlight turns on there will be a shadow or sth, and when it turns off and then turn on again, it disappears. I remember there is some research about the art of horror games or its style on how to trigger the fear of players on the internet that you can read to apply in your game.

That would be great! I'm a more gameplay preferable person. So I mean I will like it more if you make the shooting parts more thrilling like dodging, longer shooting range, cooler blood/bullet effects, melee, and add enemy delayed attack so you can move out of their distance or walk through them without being attacked instantly. Anything that make you have the feeling to kill more . . .

I'll tell you a secret because I was too lazy to draw. So I chose this art style to limit the amount of work and focus on functions and choices (update in the future) instead (。・ω・。)

No worry, fixing bug is programmer work (sometimes their brain.exe just stop working). I guess the problem you are experiencing is that the typing area is actually a separate box from the text, so when you resize it, its position is somehow relocated.

Thanks for your true thoughts and details! Experience is what I need the most at the beginning.

And can you give me more details about "UI got stuck on one"? Because I was trying to simulate the bug that you had again but you still can interact with the draggable objects.

Thanks for your review and suggestion! I will surely improve the speed of the game and add more events in game and fix that bug. The current vers is an unfinished project and will receive a long term development after the jam!

I think you forgot you resize your game resolution in

PlayerSetting, and the viewport in itch.io is just pretty

 small to play on web

This is by far the best game I have ever played during the jams!

I don't know why, but I like those hands. Although i'm not a fan of maze, but nice work!

I really missed the this art style, and this bring back my memory. Maybe turn the ghost into wendigo or something like that??

It would be great if you change the music when the T pose monster is nearby! Also the sensitive of my mouse is pretty low, and pretty hard to move my camera. But this is a pretty good game!

The shadow works pretty great, but I will surely enjoy the game more if I can do some rip and tear gameplay. But I guess you invested more on the story. Keep it work!

Wow, a classic game about escaping, though my mouse still isnt sensitive enough on my device and make it more challenging to navigate around xD but this is actually a good game, nice work!

I completed the game and it is very addicted! gonna required a lot of creation if you plan to develop this game more

This is perfect art style for a horror game, and the asmr noise is very satifying. Nice work! But sometimes it just too loud like a sound jumpscare.

Very interesting gameplay and I thought there will be some jumpscare but thanks god not xD

imagine it write your name on a txt file . _ . Or maybe a quick quiz to know your personality? who know xD
