Thank you for the detailed and honest feedback - we really appreciate it!  The jumping mechanics were a pain in the butt to get working, so I'm very happy you noticed them :)  Thank you for playing the game and sticking with it, despite a number of frustrating bugs.

Wow, easy 5/5 on all fronts.  I'm gobsmacked - fantastic job!

I really like the spooky atmosphere and pixel art, especially in level 2.  The music had a lot of energy and spooky vibes - i like the theatrical elements, like people screaming & laughing.  It would be cool to hear the same songs mixed with a Game Boy / 8-bit sound font

Thanks for playing, and thanks for the feedback!

Impressive entry!  The RPG combat is fun, and the world feels alive.  The little intro 'quest' was a nice touch.  It was helpful being able to save too, I don't think I would have gotten far without that.

The vibe, audio, and graphics of your entry are all great!  Feels like a bigger game waiting to be made :)

Nice work.  I really enjoyed the art.  It's simple, but has a lot of character to it.  The mini-games were fun - I think I enjoyed defending the candy the most.  Minor complaints are the collision in the maze made it a bit tedious to navigate, and as others have mentioned the font was very difficult to read.  Overall, great job!

This was a lot of fun to play.  The game was difficult, but fair.  Manged to get the 5 coins, although it took me quite a few tries to get the 4th :X.  It would be cool to see more levels.  Nice work!

Good job on this entry.  The characters and animations look great, and I appreciate the large sprites & text.  Some of the interactions with the witch were pretty funny.   I did have to retry quite a few times, because there are some menus that I kept getting stuck in and couldn't seem to get out of.   I basically avoided checking quests, looking in my bag, or crafting when I didn't have enough ingredients.  Overall nice work.  Very cool to see that it runs on an actual Game Boy, too!

Thanks you - we appreciate you checking it out!

Sweet, I won!  The hit boxes are not very forgiving, I was able to complete the game.  I like the silly skeleton sprite and its walking.  What was that black box enemy going to be?

I won! Delicious candy!  The little ghost was very cute, I like its movement & 'death' animations.  The lightning effect was pretty neat.

Good job on getting something submitted, even if you didn't have enough time to finish it.  The cat sprite is very cute, i like the patch of fur on its chest :)

Nice job on your entry.  I like the artwork - the Chimera and the Igor sprites look great!   I think it also had a very good Game Boy feel.  I killed the Chimera and the game seemed to reset, not sure if there was more to do.  I really wanted to dig something up, but I assume that feature didn't quite make it into the build.

The archive seems empty or corrupt.  I tried loading it into mGBA as a ROM but still no luck :(

I enjoyed playing your entry.  Every attempt at sleep was a surprise.  It's impressive how many little mini games you were able to add.  The music and writing gave the game a dark intensity and suspense.  I wasn't always sure what I was doing (especially with the giant scary head?), but I had fun and I feel hydrated :)

Good job for getting something done in only 2 days!  I thought the graphics were pretty cool looking - I think they really help give it a spooky/scary feel, and the dark palette was nice.  Also, that Shadow monster / boss was looked great!

Just a heads-up that our build is somewhat broken.  A last minute issue with packaging resulted in pixel filtering/blurring, and input on menus to be mostly broken.   On the game's page there is a link to a version of the entry that just has the pixel filtering fixed.  DancingGolem did an amazing job on the art, check out that build if you want to see it properly.

Thank you!  Glad to hear your kids enjoyed it :)

Well done!  The art, writing, and overall style are great.  The game play was solid and it was fun switching between the two characters/sizes and playing with their different abilities.

Very cute game.  I got a little startled when the angler fish tried to chomp me :D  I like the art style - the puffer fish was especially cute when fully inflated.  The music fit the game well too.  Nice work!

Thanks, glad you liked it!

I thought the first two stages were fun.  It was satisfying when I was finally big enough to eat all of the largest enemies.  I liked the concept of the third stage, but i kept getting swarmed and I couldn't make any meaningful progress.  I appreciate that the different gameplay mechanics were introduced one at a time.  The intro screen was a nice touch, too.

Awesome, thanks for playing!

Thank you so much - glad you had fun!

Thank you for the kind words!

No worries.  I know the pain of last minute bugs that only show up in packaged builds :X  Bugs or no, you still got something submitted, which is commendable, especially being your first attempt.  Keep up the good work.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but nothing seems to happen after I kill the first enemy - no other enemies appear, and I can't seem to enter the caves.  The idea sounds interesting though

I quite enjoyed playing SKENR - nice work!  The mechanics and puzzles were unique and interesting.  The game was well polished for a jam entry, with a cool metroid-esque atmosphere, music, sfx, and sprite work.  It would be interesting to see what other puzzles and mechanics you could add with some more time.

No worries, that wasn't a late response at all.  Thanks for clearing that up - that makes sense.  I'll give it another go :)

i tried telling a few stories, but I couldn't figure out how to 'win', or get a meaningful reaction from the bartender.  I might just be dumb though :X

Very impressive!  The puzzles, the mechanics, the art, and the music are all great.  Great job!

Although the physics are a bit wonky, the mechanics are unique and interesting, and create some engaging puzzles.   With a little polish, this could be a really fun game - good work!

Great job!  I though the size mechanics were fun and interesting, and the puzzles were well designed.  There were some things that I found frustrating: I don't think the boxes need to have any physics rotation - it just allowed them to constantly get stuck or bounce in undesirable ways.  Another is that the gaps used for 'threading the needle' were unnecessarily small, and prompted a lot of resets for me on the last puzzle.   Lastly, the player physics/gravity is a bit floaty, and I would get impatient sometimes just waiting to land so that I could try my jump again.   But again, all that said, great job!  Those frustrations were borne from wanting to complete the puzzles because they were so fun :)

That was trippy.  I'm glad my boat was going in the direction that it was :)

Once i figured out what I was doing I had fun playing this.  The polarity / absorption mechanic worked well for a bullet hell.  The music added a lot of energy as well.

I dig the style, the honesty, and the positivity.  Interested to see what you're able to create in the future.  Also, I love the little lizard :D

Thank you!  I agree about health & eating people.  Good catch regarding those buildings :X

You get it

Great work on your entry!  Very polished for a jam, with a lot of great atmosphere and style
