I really enjoyed playing this game. Only being able to press a key once in a level was a great use of the theme. The puzzle aspect as you learn more skills and add keys is great and I would love to see more levels.

I really enjoyed playing your submission "Only One Recruit".
Here is my game: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461622
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I was going to implement a line pointing along the trajectory of your shot, but didn't get around to it in the time. Also, sometimes wall collisions are body because the walls are actually individual tiles, so if you hit the border between two tiles, the bullet can bounce in the wrong direction. The only reason to shoot a bullet with less than 5 power is to get more score, because the more bounces your bullet uses before hitting the enemy, the more points you get. This isn't explained too well in the game, and was kinda added last minute because I realised there wasn't really any reason not to use 5 power all the time.
Here's my game with 15 ratings: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461622
It's a browser playable, one-button, one-bullet shooter, with one enemy. It also takes place on one screen.
I'm glad you made this post. I've been meaning to play AUTOMATON. It looks really good.
My game is a html5 game: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461622
I really enjoyed One Shot in the Chamber.
You may have already played my game, but here it is in case you haven't, and if any one else wants to: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461622
It's a one button, one bullet game.
I had the user press space to start playing the game, which then switched to the play scene, but space was also the controls for aiming and shooting, so no matter what, the space bar would trigger the aiming action in the play state. So, instead of messing around with cancelling input listeners and events and things, I just ignored the first key-up event for spacebar when the play scene loads.

This was my first game jam. Here is my game: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461622
Doesn't have any fancy art or sound, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
One shot is loads of fun. Everyone should have a go.
I'm a uni student, and this is my first game jam, and my 3rd completed game. https://fabadiculous.itch.io/bounce-shot
I'm happy with how it turned out, given the time constraints and am happy that this jam is happening near the start of semeseter so I had time to work on it.
Here is my game: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461622
You have a single bouncy bullet to shoot at your one enemy. Charge your shot to have more bounces, and bounce around obstacles to hit the enemy. The more bounces you use, the more points you get.
There are indeed many great games to play. Here is my entry: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461622

There are so many great submissions!
I'm trying to play and rate them in my spare time.

My game is called bounce shot and is a one button game.
You have one bullet to shoot at an enemy and you have to bounce it of the walls to get around obstacles. The enemy dies in one hit, but so do you, so be careful where it bounces. You can charge your shot to have it bounce more, increasing the chance it might bounce back to you, but also increasing your kill score, if your bullet uses more of its bounces.
I currently have 7 ratings: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461622

I'm pretty happy with it.
Shoot a single bouncing bullet to hit the enemy.
Charge your shot to make the bullet bounce more. The more times it bounces before killing the enemy, the more points you get, but also the more chances there are for the bullet to hit you and kill you.
That's a good point. I was going to make the scoring system rely on more points for fewer (say one) bounces but didn't really get there in the end. Originally it was one point per level, but then I adjusted it so you get more points, the more bounces of your power you use.
So, if you use 5 power, to get the most points the bullet needs to bounce more times before hitting the enemy. But, the more times it bounces, the more chances there are for the bullet to kill you. So it's like a safety vs score thing.
Due to time constraints, I agree it probably wasn't implemented as well as it could have been, but for my first game jam I'm happy.
This is my first game jam and I made a game called bounce shot: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461622
It has one button control, there's one player, one enemy, you have one health, and it plays on one screen.
You need to kill the enemy by shooting your bullet at them, and bouncing it off the walls to get around obstacles. You get more points, the more times the bullet bounces before hitting the enemy.
I'd also recommend this game: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461470. Lots of fun, and a cool idea.

It has one button control, there's one player, one enemy, you technically have one health, and it plays on one screen.
