Overall fun game!
The gameplay good, although the ending interaction with the forcefield was a bit bugged and it took me about 5 attempts to realize you had to jump to use it, I don't think that was intended.

If you try to get the forcefield first before anything else, the text boxes overlap and become impossible to read, although this is barely an issue.

The music was good enough to not get old listening to it about a dozen times trying to get the main and secret endings.

Impressive to make a game like this in 3 days, especially for your first ever game.

Thanks!

I love the art and the animations! The attack sound was a bit harsh, but other than that the  sound effects and music were great, too. It would probably go a long way if the enemies were spawned in at a random point in their animation, because right now they are all in sync. Also I noticed that the enemies don't actually ever attack the tower, which it feels like they are supposed to. These are minor details however, and I think the game is pretty fun.

First of all, based godot user!

I really like the transition between 3d and 2d, and the art is nice. Doesn't really fit the "otherworldly" theme at all, but that's fine. I only really have two pieces of feedback:

1: the gameplay doesn't feel very diverse. If you ever continue the game, I would recommend bigger more random islands and different types of skeleton enemies.

2: The red X that you have to dig up with your shovel feels really hard to hit with the shovel, and typically takes a while in my experience. Also, the only way to hit is is by being directly above it, so when you finish and the treasure chest comes up, it covers your vision.

I already said this on discord, but Ill say it again, if this really is your "worst" game you've ever made, you must be a pretty good game dev.

Feels very retro, which is always a interesting theme. I really like the destruction powerup and the fly powerup. I have a bit of feedback:

The game feels a bit difficult the first time you play, maybe if you made it so the game starts off slow and gets faster, giving the player time to get their bearings?

It feels very difficult to shoot the enemies, maybe add some way to aim?

Overall it's a fun game, and it's especially good for a first ever game jam submission!

Not quite sure what I'm supposed to be doing, after it loads I just see the game over screen immediately.

Because of this I am not able to write a review, sorry. If you can please tell me how what to do at the start to avoid the game over screen, that would be appreciated.

I know you said your submission is "failed", but honestly it still looks pretty sick. I know from trying (and failing) that procedural generation is a bit of a pain to make. Despite this, you not only got it working, you got it looking good, and also running really well (my PC was running at more than 1000 fps). With how the game looks currently, and the idea you described in your store page, honestly I think the game has the potential to be awesome if you ever decide to finish it.

Incredible game. Feels super polished. I loved the music and the sound effects, as well as the unique gameplay. Solid game.

Honestly my favorite game I've rated in this jam so far. I used to love Doodle Jump. This game is pretty similar, but at the unique twist that makes the game more interesting. I really like the idea of switching between animals. It made that game actually really fun, albeit difficult. I do hope you maybe continue to work on the game, maybe adding some polish details like a main menu, sound effects, and maybe more animals.

My high score is 280.

Good game! The art is very good,  as well as the sound. Very interesting analogy comparing it to addictive substances. My have two small pieces of feedback if you decide to continue the project.
1: maybe add more than two obstacles
2: sometimes the obstacles presented are impossible to dodge.
Those are just some small feelings I had, overall it's a cool game and an interesting concept.

Thank you! I am very glad people have noticed my love for Papers Please style games. That’s Not My Neighbor is on my Wishlist and I've been wanting to play it for a while.

Fantastic game. I love the art. The idea of the player choosing their risk by being on certain heights on the screen is a great idea. The only real space to improve that I see is the sound. The background sound was very repetitive and the collectables were too loud. Incredibly impressive for your first real project.

Thank you so much :)

Was very very difficult, but still super fun. Also, fellow Godot engine user!!!

I have three pieces of minor feedback:

1: The sound effects were too loud in relation with the music

2: The dialog box is stretch horizontally and and the dialog itself cuts at strange points in sentences. I would recommend making so when you have dialog, each sentence is visible at the same time.

3: Godot has built in functionality for in browser playing, so I would recommend trying to use that in the future in addition to downloads, as people trust those more.

These are all just suggestions, overall its a entertaining, solid game.

It ran perfectly fine for me.

Great game! Feels  a little like an arcade game. I really like the both 2d and 3d environment, I've never really seen something like that before so it was really interesting. Fit the theme well, and the gameplay was pretty unique and fun. My only (minor) feedback is maybe some polish would be nice. Things like a tutorial, sound, or alternate player attacks would definitely benefit the game. That's only really a small suggestion, though.

Thank you so much! This is my favorite game I've made so far, so I'm delighted to hear others liked it as well! Also yes, Papers Please is one of my favorite games.

Thank you so much! I might work on it in the future, if some other projects I am working on finish on time. It seems like it could be a lot of fun to work on further.

Thank you so much! I will most definitely release more updates in the future, and hopefully turn it from  minigame type-thing, to a full game. This is probably the game I've had the most fun working on.

thanks for the feedback! I definitely should have allocated more time play testing and polishing mechanics. I am bad at making code that isn't convoluted lol. But that's why I'm here, to practice. I actually got the same negative health bug before, but I was unable to recreate it so I couldn't figure out why it happens. I have fixed a bunch of other bugs, but unfortunately I can't submit an update until the game jam rating is over.

Great visuals, and very fun premise! Cant figure out the solution to day 3, and day 4 seems too difficult. With a little bit of refining, I could see this being a great full game!

I really enjoyed it! it was fun to figure out how to get to the tree without dying.

I really like it! I really thought it was over after it cut to black within the first five seconds after going forward at the start. Glad I turned around. The voice acting was good. Would be super fun and compelling if it had a story. You should keep developing it!

Loved the music! The gameplay felt a little luck based, but still fun. Reminded me of board games I used to play.

Very challenging, it reminds me of the worlds hardest game. I loved the death music (and heard it a lot). Very unique. The only real critique I have is the hurt sound is a little harsh. Over all very fun game!

Thank you so much! :)

Thank you for the feedback! I had a lot of fun water coloring and drawing the assets. For the theme, I was trying to have the aspect "everything hurts" as in you are always taking damage, but I understand. If I had the chance to redo the game jam, I would have tried to incorporate the theme more.

All the games this week are some of the most fun free games I've played how is everyone this good at ideas and game development??????
This is my third game jam and I'm still constantly surprised at how people can make games this good in 3 days.
Super fun to play! Very simple concept to understand, and easy controls make the game feel like an arcade game.  my high score was 467$ idk if that's good lol.

Easily one of my favorite games so far in the jam!

I hope you continue to work on the jam is finished because I absolutely love this game!

The puzzles were pretty clever as well. The last level took me a little while ( mainly because I'm bad at platformers)

Honestly, if you add sound effects and a bunch more levels, I would pay like 10$ for this game on steam or something (I might be a little biased because ducks have been my favorite animal ever since I was like five)

press R to reset the level :)

Yeah, I wanted to make the game more difficult, but I didn't have the time (or creativity) to make any harder puzzles. Thanks for the feedback!

Tsym!!

Thank you so much for the feedback! If I have the time to update the game I’ll do that. (it might take a little while because I have been really busy lately, but eventually I want to update both game jam games I made)

Awesome!

Thank you so much! I'm going to update the game next time I get the chance and I'm defiantly going to be using your advice. I plan to put the credits in a credits menu and the upgrades in a upgrades menu. I also plan to make the UI fit in better now that I understand it more. I love that everyone is so nice while also giving really useful feedback!

Thank you!

Thank you so much :D. Thanks for the feedback, I will adjust the player speed next time I have time to update it.
