Yes, I am the dev that you emailed earlier. Yes first of all I would try to move the entire simulator to another folder. Try to use a simple path that doesn't use any unusual characters (including spaces), or long folder names.

(1 edit)

You should just be able to load and play the included levels directly.

Since it doesn't work, check the level folders in the FPVFreerider_Recharged_Data folder. For example, in the Freerider_Bando_02 folder there should be a Freerider_Bando_02.png file which is about 108KB, and a Freerider_Bando_02.txt file which is about 16,2MB.

One thing that I can think of, is perhaps you have FPV Freerider Recharged in a location on your drive that contains some unsupported characters perhaps.

You can try to put it in another place, something simple like C:\Games\ for example

Thank you for your kind words and wishes!

It is feedback like this that makes all the hours I put into the development worthwhile. Yes, fpv drones can indeed give a feeling of being able to fly like a bird. Or, like some of us dreamed when we were little kids, to have a magic carpet that can take us up in the air.

And yes, the translation works perfect :)

Wish you happy flying!

Hi Dan, yes my name is John :) There isn't any set limit really. It's got more to do with the performance of the device you're running it on - it depends on the amount of RAM, the performance of your CPU and GPU etc.  Larger and more detailed maps will use more resources in terms of memory and processing power. So you will need to find out what your particular computer can handle.

Also, detailed objects such as trees will be more demanding than simple objects.

Generally speaking, when flying FPV you want a high and stable framerate, especially when flying at high speed. Therefore, when designing a map you will want to keep the framerate smooth. When it starts to run choppy it's a sign that you might have put too much stuff in there.

Hmm the camera tilt angle is exactly the same the same in both version, at least that is my intention. In what way do you mean that it is different?

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions! Regarding the level editor, it's probably easiest if you start small - start by loading an existing level and just play around by moving some objects a bit. Maybe try to delete some stuff. As long as you save the level with a new name you don't have to worry about messing things up. I think after a while you will find that the level editing is pretty easy, it can even be fun in itself :)

Maybe this video can be a good starting point:

Yes, the custom settings are saved safely, they will be kept even after an update.

Ok I can see how it can be useful, I will keep it :)

Thank you for the list! I will add it to my list of suggestions and consider it for future updates.

I don't think it's very common to toggle high/low rates often during flight, but I will take a note of your suggestion and consider it. (In fact, I have been thinking of removing the high/low rates option altogether since it's mostly just remained from the very earliest versions of the simulator).

Thank you, I'm glad to hear that you like it! Yes, flying in the sim is fun and it has the benefit that you don't have to worry about crashing :) Happy New Year!

Hello,

Here's a page that shows what it should look like when you purchase a game: https://itch.io/docs/creators/how-buying-works

After the payment, you should receive a download key, which is a link to your personal download page.

The download key will also be sent to your email address.

If you somehow didn't receive a download key, you can request a new one here:

https://itch.io/support

(Under "Recover purchases")

Make sure that the confirmation email hasn't somehow ended up in your email spam folder.

If you are still having problems with your purchase, please contact the staff at  Itch using the link above. I'm sure they will be able to help.

(As a developer, I do not have direct control over donwloads/purchases).

No problem :)

Hi, the levels that are made in the level editor (including the DLC levels) are fully compatible between the desktop and android version.

However, the levels on the main screen of the PC version (the desert, forest, factory etc..) are not made in the level editor, and can't be transferred to the android version.

The level editor is only available in FPV Freerider Recharged:

https://fpv-freerider.itch.io/fpv-freerider-recharged

Sorry for the confusion, if you send an email to fpvfreerider@gmail.com I can help you solve it.

Thanks! It uses the Unity engine.

Good day, thank you for the suggestion. I will consider it. Perhaps you are sitting on a formula on how the actual rates are implemented?

(Generally speaking, I'm personally not super into chasing the latest trends. To make a car analogy - I'm generally more excited by some beat up 70s stick shift Camaro thrashing around the backyard, compared to some shiny new model with all the latest bells and whistles).

(1 edit)

Glad to hear that you managed to find the solution! Thanks for reporting back.
(As far as I know, there are no command line parameters or similar that can be used to display fps in a Unity build)

FPV Freerider uses Unity Playerprefs to store the custom settings.

On Linux, PlayerPrefs can be found in ~/.config/unity3d/[CompanyName]/[ProductName]

It should be something like ~/.config/unity3d/Freeride/FPVFreeriderRecharged

Perhaps there is some permissions issue. I'm not a linux user myself though, so I'm not going to be of much help with linux stuff. Please note that the linux version is experimental and may not work on all distributions.

Thank you for reporting. Hopefully some Linux savvy user might be able to chime in. I'm not a Linux user myself. Please note that the Linux version is experimental and may not work on all Linux distributions. To those who still wish to try it, I recommend first trying the free demo version.
Glad to hear that it's working fine in Wine.

The chmod +x command adds execute permissions to the specified file, allowing it to be run as a program. It usually works to get Freerider running on a Mac. Make sure you enter the correct folder path and app name (where the app is located on your computer).

There is a detailed description on how to use it on page 16 of the user manual.

(If you still can't get it working please get back with more info on what happens when you try to run it).

Thank you for your interest. For new maps I would recommend FPV Freerider Recharged.

As you may know, Recharged has the full level editor included. That makes it possible to create your own levels from scratch, or download levels that other users have created and made publicly available. (Such as here for example)

You can also simply edit already existing levels - add and remove stuff - which is quite easy and can be a lot of fun.

(The only updates that are planned at the moment are necessary ones).

Thanks for reporting, glad you got it working on your setup!

(Yes, it is necessary to change the execute flag as described in the download info /manual, since newer versions of MacOS is picky about running unofficial apps)

Yes, to others who might wonder the same -

It is possible to choose line-of-sight view and perform nose in hover, watching the quadcopter as if you are standing in front of it.

Here's a more detailed explanation -

First, download the zip file for the DLC maps. Unzip it.

You should then have a number of folders, called

Freerider_Big_Hollow_Bando

Freerider_Fifty_Fifty

Freerider_MultiGP_Regionals2018

Freerider_MultiGP_UTT1

etc.

Copy those unzipped map folders to the correct folder on your android device.

It's usually:

/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.Freeride.FreeriderRecharged/files/

or

Internal Storage/Android/Data/com.Freeride.FreeriderRecharged/files/

If you are uncertain of the folder location, save any level (even an empty one) in the Level Editor of Freerider, and take a note of the full folder path that is displayed after saving is complete.

You may need to use a good file manager (such as Solid Explorer for example) to copy the maps to the correct folder.

(Some phones are deliberately blocking the owner from accessing certain folders, but you may get around that by using a third party file manager).

Hope that helps, let me know if you have more questions or need more detailed instructions for some part!

Thank you for your feedback, I can see that it would be useful and will consider it for future updates.

Thank you, I'm happy to hear that you like it!

Hello, Yes, please send an email to fpvfreerider@gmail.com and I will provide a solution.

Thanks for reporting back. That is strange indeed, I don't know what is causing that. It would be interesting to hear if you manage to see some kind of pattern to when or why it is happening. Also, if you have the Steam client installed, I could send a download key for the Steam version for you, so that you can try if that works better on your machine.

Generally speaking, if a controller can be recognized as a joystick by the operating system there's a good chance that it can be used with FPV Freerider.

However, I have heard reports from many people that the betafpv literadio2 does not support joystick emulation on Android. (I do believe it works in Windows though).

Since it is not recognized correctly by the operating system there is nothing I can do about it unfortunately.

Hello, maybe something went wrong during installation. I would try to download the zip file again, and perhaps unzip it with another unpacking software (such as Keka for example).

If it still doesn't work you could try to find the output log file and check that for clues. On Mac, I think it's usually in ~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

(Or, send the log to fpvfreerider@gmail.com and I will have a look at it and see if I can figure out what it might be).

Thank you for sharing!

I will put a link to your project in the user manual if that's OK with you.

Thank you for sharing!

(I took the liberty to repost this since people might miss it when it is a reply to an old post).

(This is posted by user Freestyle Pro Virtuous , I moved it from earlier in the thread since it got sort of lost as an answer to an old post )

Thanks for reporting, I'm glad to hear that is works after updating!

Hello, thank you for your message. I understand the problem. However, the Android version is only available on the Google Play store at the time of this writing, and that is unlikely to change.

Yes, they can be used on both the desktop (Windows/Mac/Linux), as well as the Android version of FPV Freerider Recharged.

First download the levels to your computer.

Then you need to put them in your FPV Freerider Recharged data folder. The levels need to be in the correct folder in order for Freerider to find them. The data folder is named as followed:

Windows:

FPVFreerider_Recharged_Data

MacOS:

FPVFreerider_Recharged.app/Contents

(If you are uncertain of the folder location, save any level (even an empty one) in the level editor and take a note of the full folder path that is displayed after saving is complete).

Note: The name of the custom level .txt file needs to be the same as it's folder name for it to be recognized.

You can find this and more info in the user manual.

When you download the simulator here on Itch you will receive a zip file.

On Windows, you unzip that file to a folder of your choice.

In that folder, you will then find a FPVFreerider.exe file, which is the executable.

You will also find the user manual, as well as the FPVFreerider_Data folder, in the same place.

Usually you don't need to do anything with the data folder.
