To be honest, I start playing the game casually and I was like "Oh! Let's stop now and wait a better time to be really focus and take the most out of it!". So hype over 9000 !

Unfortunatly, I didn't take the time to really appreciate the experience of solving those puzzle and come back on it wayyyy too late..

Anway, having a game that teach you basic science is really cool ! Thank you a lot for that. I didn't really had the chance to study that deeply so it's always nice to experiment through a game.

Apart from that, the theme interpretation is a bit niche but works. I didn't have audio when playing in browser not sure if it was my setup or something.

Really good submission!

おはよう,

First puzzle: ✔️
Bug combat: ✔️
Check comments and see that everybody give up after first puzzle and do the same: ✔️

More seriously, when using the zoom inside the browser I could maybe try harder and finish the second puzzle.

What I really liked:
- The reminder of the controls. Which are also well explained!
- The mini-game which is some kind of magic trap you find out.
- The puzzle hint: mini tutorial telling you how to align number at the beginning / the image on the bottom left when doing the second.

What could be improved:
- The mini-game energy. Maybe put something else in music to make it sharper.
- The mini-game feedback: Audio and visual cues when the enemy attack / we take damages etc.
- Some music when we completed a puzzle (The "congratulation" but I wanted to have much more!)

Unique game for sure.  グッドジョブ !

Hello there,

First thank you for playing !
Since you finished the game and added feedbacks on your journey, I had to at least reward you in some way.
So here you go ;)

Literal take of the sentence "2 birds 1 stone" ! Why not punish the player when he shoot more than 2 with one bullet ?! Haha.

More seriously, the controls are feeling great. The audio / visual feedback are great and I really enjoyed my time spent on the game. The objective is straight forward so nothing confusing or weird. I really like the way the ball can be blocked by cardboard cloud and the ball bounds on it. Didn't try to do some trick shot but it could be nice to try !

I really like the arcade feel of the main menu. I'm nostalgic of a time I didn't really experience ;)

Good submission !

Thank you !

I will add some for sure. And make them super stressful :P

I find fox as cute as cats so coming from one I greatly appreciate the feedback !

Yeah, I really tried to squeeze my idea of doing a Trauma Center prototype into this jam, haha ! (which, by the way was one of my favorite game on Nintendo DS. <3)
But now that I have a baseline and feedbacks, I will bug fix it and polish a bit just to have something to remind me good old time on that type of game ;)

But enough about me and my memories, thank you for playing and leaving a feedback. Really appreciate !

I wasn't able to play it in browser either. Tried chrome and firefox. The button seems hidden.
But I recall having this problem on another game and it really looks like it's a scaling issue.

Maybe allowing player to fullscreen your game in itch.io could fix the issue ?

Really good looking game !
The main menu sound is good and I really really like the art style. But the combat UI could be a bit improved for clarity:

- For example, having the heart (which is your player) at the same height that the opponent head could help the comprehension a bit. Basically keeping a one-to-one display left and right. But if you want more a hearthstone's feeling, you should have more the shield and attack display at the top / bottom in my opinion.

Like you said in other comments, a quick tutorial could really benefits the experience.
The take on the theme is also a bit light in my opinion. In every card game you have to play the hand you're dealt with no ? ;)

Good job guys !

Really good game !

Simple and yet addictive ! It's like a tower defense without attacking at all.
The way of playing is well introduced with dialogues. It's underrated in game jam so congrats on doing it ! Looks like you put a lot of efforts on monsters and cards. So the game isn't repetitive in the early levels.

I didn't made past level 9 tho. Pretty sure I didn't reroll enough with all my gold.

Side note: I don't know if there is a way to increase the number of action per turn, but I managed to buy a card with 4 action points when I only had 2 available. I don't know if it's something intended but it's a bit frustated when I tried to play it.

Site note 2: I had to download it. The web version wasn't working in firefox.

Again good submission !

Thank you for trying !
I know it can be frustating for the moment.

As a general tips what really matters is the general shape so the number of edges and each corner.
Also avoid to draw too slowly.

Thank you for your feedback.
Yeah, It make more sense to fix injuries by drawing on top of it. :)
I will add more levels and a quick patch for that when the rating is over. 🤞

Really good game for a game jam. To be honest, I wasn't able to finish a game because I wasn't too sure of what I was doing. But it's simple enough to have a bit of fun expanding and sending units destroy opponent's castle.

Some stuff that might be useful for guys like me:

- The tutorial said "the building need to be on your area to work", but sometimes when I put them, it snaps outside of my green area. So I wasn't sure they will work or not.

- I approved what other players said about the AI. If they do something different, we can't learn from them by mimicking and get better. Which is too bad in a strategic games.

(Just saw your comment about the rules of AI and stuff. You should add it to the submission page as a quick tips)

Good submission!

(1 edit)

I completed all three of them with 47/47/50 seconds

It's really nice that you had time to add 3 mini-games to your final game. They all works without bugs. So good job on that.

One thing that can be improved is adding more "juice" to each minigames. Here is some examples:
- For the car game, add a big of smoke behind the car turning and maybe some tire mark on the ground. Maybe randomize the obstacle too (just add a lot of spawning point and decide if they should be active or not)

- For the platformer, make the character squish a little before dying with moving blocks. This will make the character look like more "jelly" than an hard square, which is better in my opinion.

- For the room cleaning, maybe the laundry pick up only available with the space bar. And you can try to generate the room for example. Or add way more dirt to the ground.

Last quick note: don't forget the sound in games ! It's very important. :)

Keep up the good work !

The art direction is breathtaking. (insert Keanu Reeves finger pose)

The gameplay is introduced along which is a really nice thing to do. A game jam with a good tutorial is so enjoyable. You broke each fight with a new gameplay addition. Classic but does the job.

Like some others mention, I find the theme intrepratation a bit common in my opinion.  But again, everything else is working great.

Good job guys !

Good work ! The game is fun, and challenging. So really good for a game jam.

A few improvements that can be made:
- Introducing the concept of waves and have upgrades made during that time could be something better than posing the game at a random time to do it.

- Make sure that the player cannot lose sight of his crosshair outside of the bounds of the screen.

Good job overall. :)

I made it to the end ! (the escaping end seems there is alternative ending)

The game atmosphere is great: the music is well chosen, the art and animations are not too complexe and still are enjoyable.

The only point that can be improved in my opinion is those never ending hallways. They break a bit the experience. Without that, it will be a much more fun.

Good submission !

You're absolutely right. That's what is missing right now.
And some other juicy effects to make the experience a little bit stressful and really feel you have a cat's life in your paws (kind of) !

Thank you !

Thank you for playing it  !

Right now it is "space dependant". But the term "size" could work too.
Meaning, when you draw a shape X, I simplify it and only study the points remaining of that shape against a pattern Y in it's space representation. I compute a score which is only distance between each points and compare it to a threshold hardcoded.

But this technique isn't optimal like you have guessed. I will do something better after when the rating is over and that I have a little time to spare.

Thanks for taking the time to play and comment about it. :)

Yeah I tried to warn player with the little speech to not make symbols too big or too small and to respect the proportion of the pattern. It's what really matters. Sorry for the frustration. I will patch that in the next version for sure.

Really good game! I can see that you have put a lot of work in it.

The music is great. The art is pleasant and puzzle fun. It's a bit hard to grasp at first but nothing to crazy either. Maybe introduce each new skills as you go through the levels could help.

I encountered a bug in level 2 where my character was rotating in space after attacking one of the three remaining ennemy who was in "charge up" mode. I maybe did a double tap on an ability or something. You might be aware of it already but just in case.

Be proud of your work !

Thank you for playing it! :)

Sadly I got caught by time by I plan on adding some when the rating phase is over.

Simple yet effective. I've managed to beat the boss in the third run. 😎

Something that can be improved: do not let items (I believe the bottle give back health ?) disappear when the gate is opening. it's a bit furstrating.

Good job guys !

I can tell that you put a lot of fun and efforts in this game. The art is really great, the card's animation are pleasant and the effect are well thought. There is also a variety of effects meaning it's not easy to always have the upper hand.

Like some other say, the game stop when I entered "trap" phase (using Firefox here). And maybe adding a bit of "juice" when card are being played could help the understanding.

Great work.

Peaceful experience. The music is a bit loud at first but really great.

The only thing that maybe "impacted" my experience was the animation mother nature was taking when unlocking a new zone. But it's really a minor issue.

Great submission !

Thanks for taking the time to play it!

By "blue panel", do you mean the blue square? It should appears and fall in the right place right away.
But I agree that making two interactions following each other is a bit odd.

Great to hear that your experience was overall plaisant.

I was making sure to create the perfect badass robot and I ended up fighting it! :O
> "Hello darkness my old friend ..."

Anyway, the visual are really nice and I understood the gameplay right away.
I guess you did not have time to polish it enough so that's usual in a jam (I've been there).

Good job for your submission!

Thank you for taking the time to play it :)

The game does follow the theme. Good job for that!
I completed a couple levels. I find myself bouncing out of the screen in level 4 or 5, haha.

A couple things if I may:

- Don't hesitate to use simple sentences in the game.
- I think you could have shown the link between the two objects since your goal was to make a physical game. That could help player know right away what to do.
- Avoid overlapping text in general. I saw congratulations notice on top of explanation text many times.
- Showing hints and displaying jokes can be funny at first. But I find that saying "out of context stuff" in it is a bit odd.
- Sounds and visual effects are good for the overall experience. But for example, when the player stay on a button, do not loop the song. Only play it once when the player enter the trigger box.

Hope it helps!

Thank you for playing our game.
Artists did put a lot of efforts in the esthetic of the game

Glad you found out by yourself how we wanted to represented the theme in our game!

Thank you for your time playing our game.

Indeed, we had this annoying bug at the end due to wrong coding design. Mistakes happens.
Once you saved your friends, you just have return to the platform on the far right of the puzzle that should lift you up to the end of the puzzle.

> Please be more delicated with the birdie!

This summarize my experience. Haha just kidding.

Really nice game. You made some challenging puzzle. I got stuck with the cat tree and didn't know what to do from there. Luckily one of your gif show me the solution

I also liked how you integrated the most annoying things cat does. Like throwing stuff around, going in front of the TV, etc.

Good job !

Thank for playing it!

Yeah the follower birds are a bit "drunk". Do not fly after drinking alcohol kids! Haha.

The blue box should be in the right place right away. The plan was to push it, but the stairs were too straight to make it happens. So it appears above the good platform to avoid extra frustrations.

We will for sure make a more polished version to express our initial intent.

Thank you for playing it!

Yeah, artists did a great job on that game!
For the mechanics, we tried to make a lot of stuffs (too much) in such a short amout of time and this back fire at us I think.

Should have cut some features to have time polishing the existing one.

Thanks for taking the time to write feedbacks.

We will for sure made a version bug free with all the levels and the polish needed to have the right experience. For the rest who knows ;)

Haha, the goal was to represent swallow birds indeed. Hope the artists will not see your comment on that! :P

Nice tips for the zip file. Didn't think about that before since I was able to make a browser version in previous jam.  Fixed. Thank you!

Poetic and relaxing game.
Remind me the ocarina mechanism in zelda.  Which I love.

I don't know If I reached the perfect ecosystem (probably not since the game didn't congrat me for that :P) but I tried every combinaisons and end-up with my perfect island (I did not play the fire melody at the end don't worry. Haha).

Really fun game!
Good job in adding a tutorial. Really nice thing to do when you have time! :)

I didn't understand at first why the game was restarting but I figure it out after reading the page.
Maybe binding it to a button could improve the experience.

Nevertheless, Good job!

Cool take on the theme: blending video game genres!

I was pretty sad when the car, which I collected cans for, run over me like I did nothing for it :( Haha.

Great game!

Really fun game! Sometimes I was going random move to avoid stuff and it works!

Agree with @Azozoth, I think you want to avoid spawn-kill player. Adding just a rule to destroy objects closer to a threshold from the player spawn location should do the trick !

The final stage is my favorite. Great job!

Thanks for playing our game!

Even without bugs, we would have lacked time to make incremental difficulty in puzzles. This simple thing could have make us shipped more smaller levels. Next time I guess!
