Phenomenal job. The atmosphere is perfectly balance between scary and interesting, and I especially enjoy the shadow mechanic hiding some of the monsters you face (until you put your lantern towards them.) The crafting system by merging items found on the ground is a nice concept as well.

sleep. very important. yes.

I love horror games. This is simple. This is scary. This is awesome. Kameltose approved. 10/10.

It took me 600 seconds and I still missed 4 lanterns :(

Why is bro gatekeeping all the groceries? Also, I love that the character sorta looks like he's rolling around on the floor when there isn't a shelf behind him.

Interesting concept that is right up my alley. I could definitely see you making some awesome games if given more time.

absolutely correct. I could not think of the word for it and I figured copyright was the closest I could get.

More unique names will help your games get more attention. However, movies, books, games, songs, etc are okay to have the same name. There are so many objects made in the world everyday, so it's not uncommon for a name or idea to be repeated. The only time it is not okay to use the same thing as somebody else is when whatever it is is copyrighted.

I believe it's something about a plane disappearing? Like the cliche plane crash stories.

I am working on a 2D surrealistic horror game, kinda similar to this. I am so glad that I found this game and that I exist at a time to enjoy it.

Ah, I thought the crow ate the veggies so I was afraid to lead it around.

What does the crow do?

Simple, yet fun. Reminds me of the games "Beholder" and "Papers, Please", where you have a "simple" task, but your family's lives are at stake, which complicates things. What is supposed to be a normal job quickly becomes something dangerous and risky, with shady interactions becoming frequently necessary to survive. Poor guide doesn't get paid enough. :(

Very pleasant experience. Nostalgic bc of the Papa's series similarities, yet also its own entity. Fits the theme "guide", because of the map idea, and I just love the style of the map. The colors fit well with a sort of western or fantasy vibe. One suggestion that I have is to randomize naming the locations each request rather than using descriptions of direction and a reminder of where the person wants to go on the map screen, such as red circle around the name or an "X".

Very interesting concept. I look forward to expansion upon this project. New Meeps can be found with their fire dying and you lead them to your own camp. There can be tents, sleeping bags, etc. There can be a lamp or a torch to light paths. So many opportunities. There could even be wolves or bears that the Meeps have to craft weapons and walls to defend themselves against. Beautifully put together.

A negative works the same as inverting should, but with inverting, it'd be a distance greater than. My apologies because this is backwards for what you want. Glad you figured it out though.

It's a condition for distance between 2 objects. You can use it to make enemies only die when they are close to the player. By default, it uses a "greater than" number, but you should invert it so only enemies under a range will die.

I think I got bad ending...they hate me :(

This was a neat experience. Very unsettling, but interesting. It's simply going through doors, but I was curious. If you work on this more, I'd like more rooms with more randomized events, but I think you were creating a story here, which is also beautiful.

As for killing enemies through walls, a simple fix should be making a condition for "enemy distance < (ex: 50-100 pixels) of player".

I was also relieved that the ranged enemy didn't deal contact damage. It's the melee one that's tough to kill.

Thank goodness downloadable is allowed though. Itch.io said the HTML zip has a limit of 1000 files and my game has roughly 1200.

Your game for sure reminds me of The Binding Of Isaac and Cult Of The Lamb combat, which I LOVE. I agree with Dukykitsune that the melee range is a bit short, making it difficult to kill the moving enemies. Other than that, this is a swell game. I checked out your LTGD game as well and loved the design.

PC can use the regular WASD or arrow keys for movement with the top down or platformer extensions.

you can use the condition "if device is mobile device". Invert it so it only happens for PC. Make the action "delete joystick". The joystick won't be deleted for mobile, but will be for PC players since it's not needed.

(1 edit)

This is my first game jam & also my 2nd attempt at a full game. It will definitely not be finished, but it should have all of the core mechanics fleshed out and still stick to the theme (loosely but I believe the grim reaper is a "guide" for the dead). I purchased a couple of enemy sprites from @ansimuz on here so I'll lose points, but I have more time to polish the game.

I'm working on my first game right now & it's a 3rd person platformer movement rpg, but I can tell you that watching LixianTV, Helper Wesley, & Dani has shown different engines & the mechanics they work best with.
