Game definitely could have done with some kind of tutorial. I walked around for a while or so before stumbling upon an enemy and dying and finally the controls appeared on screen, but even after that I couldn't seem to get the scaling buttons to do anything. What I could figure out was decent though so good job.

This is a really cool idea, as other comments have said I wish there was more, but only because what you have was really good. I had a bug a couple times where the runway would spawn off to the side and the game would get stuck so I had to restart which made retrying quite tedious. But the game itself is really enjoyable and well executed too. Great job!

Hey sorry for the late response. We have started working on a v2 of the game now that the jam it was originally made for was over. I'll hold off sending any footage over until that is finished as we expect the quality of the game to increase a lot. Hope you enjoy it once it's out!

So polished! The only thing I can fault it on is the gameplay was a little simple. But the repeating gag was funny, and everything you included felt good. The movement, the jump, the sword etc. all really nice to use. I appreciate the use of checkpoints too as it can be frustrating to be sent back to the start because you died at the end of a level. I really loved the art style, not even sure how you managed that in paint but it looks great! Really good job!

Seemed like a really polished game in audio, visuals and gameplay. I loved the colour scheme and animations in particular. The gameplay was simple yet there was enough to keep you interested. I did feel that it got quite hectic quite quickly with all the different things you have to think about so maybe a slower skill curve would have been nice. That's really just a nitpick because everything else is so good though. Amazing job!

It didn't really seem like there was much to this game. At first I thought I was trapped in the room as the monster thing was right there from the start, then I realised that it didn't seem to actually do anything when it touched you, just kind of got in the way so it became more of a nuisance more than anything. It's an interesting concept though and the player art comes together nicely with the asset pack you used . The sounds are good too. Good job though!

A cute little game. I really like the art style and colour palette choice. And the simple music and sound effects fit quite nicely. Some player animations would have been nice but to be honest it looks good as is. I do wish that you could hold down the direction keys to make it move repeatedly (like in 2d pokemon games) as my hands did get a bit tired over the few attempts it took me to finish. In the end I made it out with 33s to spare. Overall good job!

Really good graphics and good choices for the sounds. The controls felt good and the visual feedback was there too. I think it was far to hard unfortunately, which took away from the enjoyment a bit. Particularly the second room, which was extra frustrating seeing as it sent you back to the start on each death. Other than that though it did a good job at throwing a couple different challenges at you. Wish there could have been more levels. Good job!

A decent little game. Graphics were really good, I liked the simplistic yet high fidelity pixel art style. The player sprite did look a little jittery whilst moving around though. The shooting sound was also nice, I wish you had others like jumping and ambience etc. The concept for the game was cool too, I wish we could have seen more of it. Great job!

It's the classic game jam experience. You always get 90% of the way there and then some random issues come to leave a bad taste right before the deadline. Same thing happened a bit with our game and some of the sounds. I look forward to seeing the post-jam version :)

I got a time of 53s. I felt that the hitboxes of everything were quite big - it was really easy to clip into the corners of things and also the enemies could hit you from quite far away. I also found the enemies to be very unpredictable both in their movement and that they would spawn out of nowhere - which made it pretty impossible to deal with whilst already trying to figure out where you're going. I had to probably 10+ attempts. I did like the art style though and the sounds were very funny, the concept was cool too.  Good job!

I really like the music and visuals in this. I did find that I was just kind of wandering around hopelessly not really sure what I was looking for, eventually just stumbling upon the exit after a few minutes. I also felt like the enemies could have been a bit more engaging, it didn't seem like there was much point in attacking them as you could use the dodge roll to just get past them. Overall really good job though, I could easily see this being expanded on to make a really cool procedural dungeon game!

(1 edit)

I really like the visuals and the music was nice too. I think parts of the game might be accidentally tied to framerate like the dash as the recharge time seemed quite inconsistent? The hitting of the enemies felt quite nice although often the attack wouldn't work and the sword would just go up and not do the animation. What you have is really good though and I hope you do keep working on it!

It's a cool concept but I found that I was mostly wandering around until I found the key and door and then just beelining it between them as there wasn't much need to outmanoeuvre the enemies. I really like the music and the sounds that were there and I love the pixel art aesthetic. Great job overall!

Hey, we would love to have a video on the game. The game was made in 72 Hours for the Indie Game Jam #4 and so a lot of things got shipped broken in the last minute rush.

We are however planning to make a v2 of the game with all of the bugs fixed, mechanics refined and even more content too.  Look forward to seeing the video if you do make it!

I found that the jumping was very inconsistent - often either the first jump or double jump just wouldn't work at all. I couldn't get past the big with the lasers because I couldn't get the double jump to activate at all on certain parts of that level. That being said the graphics were nice and the dash was cool both visuals wise and feeling.

The music and death sound are amazing. I think the platforming controls were a little bit jank and it could be unforgiving at times, especially with no checkpoints. I found that I clipped through the platforms a few times which was quite frustrating. Decent game overall though so good job.

I had to rename the "ETV_Data" folder to "Escape the void_Data" to get it to launch, then I also had the untextured guy. I did however manage to find you can knock down the wall and then went through the levels. Very bizarre level design but I liked it in a way. Platforming felt decent for what it was too. Good job al things considered though.

If you like, we could get some more cinematic shots without the player arms and crosshair. Just let us know roughly what you'd want and we can send them over.

A really fun speedrunner type game. I felt the wobbly platforms were a bit janky sometimes and they ruined a couple runs but I found myself going back to improve my times and managed to snag a few of the records. Great job!

GOTY

Controls felt a little jank but I like how it feels like trying to evade the cops in GTA. Nice graphics and sounds too

Simple platformer but it's got really nice graphics and sounds with some surprisingly tight controls for a jam game. Great Job
