Thanks for playing the game!
About making more enemies, I doubt it as I tend to leave my game jam games after I publish them.
Also I'm in a little trip so I don't have access to my dev setup right now.
Hey thanks for checking the game ^^
Maybe it reminds you of that because the color palette is based on the Mega Drive/Genesis.
Very interesting and fun idea, especially the little resource gathering mechanic. I'm not able to get very far on the game (I was only able to have a maximum of 4 fish) but there seem to be different enemies if you progres enough, which is nice. Also cute color palette, makes the game nice to look at!
I don't know if it was your intention but the atmosphere and gameplay reminds me a lot of "Zombies Ate My Neighbors". Really cool sprites! (especially all the player walking animations).
I felt that the player character is a little slow but that may just be personal taste.
cool game! (thank you for adding a map...)
Good graphics and gameplay!
It took me a while to realize that I should go to the shops instead of just going against the enemies since the they always ended up gaining so much HP that in advanced stages I could barely destroy some of them.
The only bug I had is that after losing and returning to the first stage, the game froze when it tried to spawn the second "wave" of enemies.
Ignoring that, good job with the game ^^
Sorry, I didn't know if I should say it or not.
The bug occurs with the "safe blocks" and with the initial block (the one that the player always appears at the beginning). You just have to stand on top of one of those two, and wait for them to reach the highest point where they disappear. When they do, the player will enter the state of "falling" but with the difference that you will be able to make infinite jumps, until you touch a surface again.
My theory is that it is not declared that the player is no longer on a surface when the block on which he is disappears in this way.
I really like the concept of the game and the fact that you've added a leaderboard!
the character movement can be a bit weird at first but you can get used to it in my opinion (but I would still make maybe some minor adjustments).
I don't know if the developer or anyone else has noticed it but there is a bug that allows you to make "infinite jumps". I don't know if I should explain how to reproduce the bug but I think it's because the character doesn't update its "state" of "touching ground".
Obviously this is just a small oversight and shouldn't overshadow the good things about the game.
Really fun :)
That's weird, the highscore should appear at the right upper side of the death screen.
The game itself don't have a end, it's about seeing how much can you score while you survive. If you have seen a very big enemy that looks like a boss, thats probably means that you reached the final wave(created specifically to kill the player).
Thanks for playing the game and for the feedback :)
Due to the randomness of the "Enemy picker system" was a nightmare try to balance the difficulty. I agree, it would probably have been a better idea make the enemies more like a"popcorn" style and increase the spawn ratio.
Actually, thats a awesome idea, pressing a button makes you lose a bit of time but give you more damage, that would have allowed for more aggressive playstyles... now i feel kinda stupid for no thinking on that during the jam.
Thanks for the feedback and playing the game!
The Score is my fault, i was a little tired and decided to put it on the death screen.
When you get hit the "Target" dissapears so you need wait until it reapears while the time still go down. Also i checked the code and looks like you lose 0.25 seconds on hit(Yeah, i don't even remember my own code)
Thank you for checking my game!
The sound effects are a bit tricky for this type of games were enemies/player tend to shot a lot, so you need to choose a sound effect very carefully to not make the gameplay annoying. In this case I was about to make my own sounds effects but the time become a problem, so I ended up using some old sounds that i created a while back(Player damage and Enemy death explosion) and one that I downloaded at the last minute. But i'm glad you like it anyway, thanks for playing!
I like your sincerity.
The audio is definitely MY weakest part in game development, due to time constraints i just used royalty free music(but it's also my fault for choosing the most repetitive one).
Sound effects are something that in my opinion I am decently good at, but as you can hear, there are only one or two due to, again, time constraints.
Overscopping is something that i really need to control, actually the original idea for the game was discarded by that, after two days started the jam, i come with the "current decent idea" for the game, which maybe isn't that bad but really needs more polish and complexity(there are some bugs in the mechanic).
Maybe the visuals is the strong (not that much) part of my game from what I can tell from the majority of comments, so I guess I did a good job on the art side.
I appreciate your feedback, I find it interesting what someone who is not a fan of the genre has to say. I Really appreciate you coming to take a look at my little game :)
(sorry for reading your commentary so late, for some reason everyone starts commenting/rating the game on my sleep schedule, also sorry for the spelling mistakes, my first language isn't English)
Many people have already talked about the audio problem so I won't go into detail on that.
Really good pixel art(specially that "flying structure" at the background). Sometimes the screenshake moves the camera from its original place, not a huge bug but it may annoy some people.
Although the game is quite short, is fun to play and if you add more variety to the weapon system, can make your game stand out.
Good job with the game :)
Yeah, some people said the same thing about the music (I hope it wasn't too annoying).
Actually, the idea of receiving a acommulative score multiplier after collecting the "Target" was in mind, but I scrapped it due to lack of time(actually the whole game is in this state by the same reason).
Thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated :)
Much of what I am about to say has already been said by others.
Really like the art style of this one(as someone say: very CAVE-like)
The time rewind mechanic is pretty good and help with scoring but sometimes i been killed multiple times just because the rewind leave me in very close of a bullet.
As you said the rewind isn't very useful for players who don't care about scoring or strugglle to survive so you probably need to add another benefice when using it.
But it's a awesome game anyway with great potencial.
I wish you luck with the project :)
