Summary: The game dialogue was good. Was quick and fast to complete. Very understandable on what to do.
Improvements:
- Sound setting sliders.
- Consistent art (matching same borders and tilemaps), polishing y-sort for characters.
- Player movement and replace player sprite.
- Indication for player that the game has ended if you are doing a linear storyline.
- Title screen art & webpage art.
What I'd like to see:
- More levels.
- improved characters art.
Gameplay was good no issues playing the game. Very nostalgic. I did wish the card turn was a bit faster when telling me what they enemy layout was. I honestly didnt think I needed to know but nice. I liked the tradoff cards more than the revealing (kinda ruined the surprise). solid game and mechanics the bullets were slightly hard to see.
very similar game to what we made. Similar inspiration from little alchemy i take it. Love the design and ui tutorially was better done for sure than ours. I actually like the perspective a lot more and will definitely take notes on this as a reference later. Im saving this for post jam updates from you guys so please keep working on it. great job.
The intro was very well done. Loved the mechanic of revealing everything. This was really great and immersive experience for me to play through. The narrative style was really great.
Improvements that I think could be made:
Visual sprites improvement really took away for me the game experience which felt serious and professionally done.
I think an audio slider is needed it was very high volume set.
Summary: Overall I like the direction that the narrative was going with. I could easily see the vision that was in place for the game and the theme. I liked the intensity of the choices picked. I felt the buildup pretty well in the game. The sound design was jarring in a good way to help with the atmosphere.
What could improve:
- Ui consistency within the game.
- Better UI responsive feedback for indication of which is the active label for clarity.
- Sound setting slider.
- Slow pacing of text and provide more calmer music.
What I'd like to see post jam:
- More takes on other perspectives.
- Intrusive thought words pop-up distractions. (immersive experience)
- Calendar system continuation.
Art direction lead the way through the game. Hardest part of the game was determining whether or not you were doing well in the game.
What i want to see:
More monster interactions within the game.
What I think can improve:
UI guidance in the game.
Floor UI indicators with which doors are on which floor.
Meter bar to indicate how well you are doing.
The game provides a quick and understandable start to the concept. Easy to know what to do to get going.
I think to improve you could adjust the visuals of the ramps so it is less jarring on the eyes.
Maybe allow for increased think time when analyzing the levels. (Start button or a loop system)
I would like to see gag items that dont fit in either bin containers.
UI indicator for knowing how many are going to come out of the color box.
- Above the boxes for indication.
Fixing the options for minor polish.
Summary: Overall I enjoyed the art style of the game. Definitely seem inspiration from the anime death parade.
What I'd like to see:
- More narrative pathways based on decisions
- More conversational dialogue choices
- Bartender responsive reaction based on what you make.
What can improve:
- Simple bug fixes post jam results.
- margin containers
- Reapproach the combat
- diminishing value for spamming same combinations
- alternatively one selection choice. Maybe not needed to fight the boss more take it a narrative route.
The visual art was nice. Music was pretty loud at first.
Some things to improve on:
I think art wise - I would focus on nailing down the perspective a bit more. The candle top didnt match the rest of the amazing art it was almost too perfectly square to match a burning candle. Really a minor thing so not knocking this down.
UI - I think the UI could've been put more effort in. The explanation of the game mechanics as well could be nice to add a tooltip.
Overall the unique art style is what kept me playing for the characters.
What could improve:
So the platforming didn't really fit the vibe of this game for me. It screamed more cozy platforming for me isn't really a cozy game. That being said for platforming the gravity felt a bit light.
What I'd like to see:
I prefer to see a different mechanic implemented into the game to match the cozy feel. More interactions of the characters. Maybe a town search and find left to right movement rather than vertical jumping.
This game shared similarities to another I just recently played Gno something. So the pickup was quite quick to get a grasp on things. I enjoyed the 2.5 D in some aspects of the game.
The title screen art and the game art didnt quite match but I see the connection. Same with the UI.
I think the above is what I would improve to polish more overall for the game. Work on some more shaders to be used for 2.5D. Maybe more movement in the outer rim of the backgrounds (darker area)
What I would like to see is more interactions with the incorrect combinations.
I would also like movement system of furniture.
Great product within a short amount of time.
Summary: Overall I enjoyed the unique take on the theme and the innovative game design. At first I thought I was the X however I realized quickly what the radar meant.
What can improve:
I think overall there are a few quality of life like sound setting sliders for headphone users. Also a skip initial cutscene dialogue for restarting game. Needed to wait through a few times.
What I'd like to see:
I think more levels.
More indication me getting lost in the library I was confused what that meant. It was only after the 4th time I realized I had fallen off the map.
Honestly the audio is what sold me on this game. The laughing narrative made me and my wife crack up to play it again multiple times.
What I'd like to see:
- More audio inserts besides laughing. Funny commentary in voice.
What I think should improve:
- Overall game mechanics need to be better. More visual UI should be improved.
