Very polished game! Audio and visuals are great and the twist of choosing combinations of power ups and enemies hordes is very interesting. That's a pity that the balancing doesn't work so well and the healing mechanich isn't actually relevant for the gameplay.

The UI is very clear and funny at the same time.

Best point: it's very very very polished and everything is smooth

Worst point: it has no link to the jam's theme and it's not well balanced

However, that's a great game. When you lose you wanna play again!

Oh this is a really fun game, the music is great. I kept playing multiple times cause I kept dying. But I had fun.

Would like to see some more chaos and animation, shakes and damage numbers on the screen. The random cards give a much needed break.

Good game and good luck! :)

Sheesh! The visuals are fire and the amount of polish is insane!!! The little animation curve on the player feels really good!!! also the sound design is peak! game mechanics and the whole card thing is a lot of fun too!

Im not sure how i feel about the theme tho...

Still REALLY good job everyone

I agree with Kelvin's suggestions v v v

Grats on the cool & polished game!

This is a very nice bullet hell with an interesting twist! I love the idea of choosing both your upgrade and deciding how hard the enemy would be at the same time. Such an interesting twist and I am having fun! I also like the fact that each upgrade in the game feels strong enough to influence the game in a meaningful matter, like the damage upgrade really makes you hit harder, and you can really feel that enemies are dying faster. Another thing that I really like is that the game introduces elements in a slow and digestible manner. Well done on that!

For a bit of minor issues and suggestions, I'd say the heath pick up is too small. It's quite unnoticeable when you are focusing on fighting enemies and dodging bullets, and I would hope they are a lot more prominent in the scene. I also think the card-flipping animation is a bit too long, and looking at that for each level is quite time-consuming and flow-breaking. A skip button that flips all the cards would be very nice.

Anyway, this is a very nice game! I do like it a lot. Well done!

P.S. Here's my score

A very fun game! Love the visuals, gives me real retro gaming vibes. The game play is also awesome with rogue-like mechanics. The game feels really good to play. The sound effects are also good. A well polished game! Keep up the great work.

Fellow spaceship game developer! Nice job on making your game! It was very fun to play and I enjoyed the experience.

WOW! It's very fun game! Visuals are very cool! Also i liked the idea with the main menu: you can get used to the controls, understand how everything works, and then start the game, very convenient.

Very fun game, only drawback was that healing was very rare/impossible as I found no heals even after taking that card.

It was a pretty unique idea, I’ve only ever seen one other game let you pick how your enemy improves and that was Shotgun King: the Final Checkmate.

The graphics and audio were well done, nothing much to say on it.

I do think the dash is a little awkward to perform with shift when your left pinky is on the A key so I would move it to Right Click or spacebar or something.

Balatro meets space invaders! I dig it. Great work on the shader effects! I like the warping to simulate the CRT rounded screen

Reminds me of space invadors.

Old school arcade feel with the old cathode ray-tube TV effect. Love it.  Thanks for that wee bit of nostalgia there. Coupled with the mouse targeting rather than simply shooting straight and then the rogue-like cards, a great mash.

I definitely wanted a big over powered boss shootout at some point though. :)

Great work team.

One of Them Don't Look Right :(

Slightly cheeseable. one run I stood still on top right of the screen and just shoot horizontally. only needed to dodge the one that shoot at you with a lil up down movement. (But the enemy bullet homing downgrade got me)

Very nostalgic, very good.

Really enjoyed the concept of randomized progression through a shmup - it kept things fresh during the playthrough. My only wish is that card reveal animations between stages would be a little bit snappier - right now they slow the pace down a bit too much. But still, a great game with a sense of progression that keeps you going!

Pretty fun game! The art is pretty charming and the gameplay is simple yet effective. The rough-like card mechanic was pretty cool tho it was somewhat slow. Either way, I still had fun! Overall a nice little game!

Gameplay was good no issues playing the game. Very nostalgic. I did wish the card turn was a bit faster when telling me what they enemy layout was. I honestly didnt think I needed to know but nice. I liked the tradoff cards more than the revealing (kinda ruined the surprise). solid game and mechanics the bullets were slightly hard to see.

Good theme, good gameplay, good music

I CRASHED SO CLOSE TO THE END NOOO. Anyways, great graphics. Music is BOPPING. One of the best I've heard in this jam so far. Wish there were more upgrades and enemies, but that always becomes an issue due to game jam constraints. I think cards could've had a skip or speed up option, since the slowest part of the game was having like 20 cards to have to flip over. Overall, an amazing game!

Big fan of upgrades with tradeoffs, especially those that directly apply to the enemies. Very clever! Gameplay was fun and it didn't go on for too long without throwing something new at the player. Well done! I do think that the pacing could have been improved if the cards at the start of each wave were revealed faster.
