Yeah, I mean the sound effects that mimic the characters speaking with a simple waveform

This was very touching, I got a little teary-eyed...

Really nice storytelling, the atmosphere you evoke here is really something - the visual design is very simple but is very well polished, the text bubble style and the wind flying past the ship feel really distinct and important to the atmosphere of the game, great job.

This is so cozy! I LOVE the art style you've got going for this game, it's so nice! All the little details you put into animating the AI overseer, the alternate voice lines, the scrolling UI etc really goes a long way to making these feel super polished. Amazing job!

Cool idea,  I agree with another commenter that the diegetic lights to indicate the status of the ship is a really nice touch. I also like how the humans are physics objects behind the scenes (and can hit things and rotate), it makes them feel more impactful than a simple Node2D and sprite. Nice job!

SUPER chill atmosphere, I really like the effects of the clouds in the distance and the surreal feel of the game, it's very relaxing with the music in the background as well. Great job!

This is a super interesting concept and I really like the information-gathering strategic elements, I feel like complex turn-based games are relatively rare in game jam environments. I do think the map felt a little large, as even after exploring very long stretches of emptiness, there was no sign of an exit. Really cool game!

This is a fantastic concept! The way the entire game is tied thematically together is really cool, and I like how the game is split into separate phases of play that keep it feeling fresh over time. Great job!

Having the shooting being automatic really changes the atmosphere of the game and makes it feel more movement oriented, which is a cool approach. Pretty fun, nice job!

Cute! I love all the attention to detail with the embarrassed crabs running off without their shells. Well put together , very charming, and the tutorial is easily understood.

Cool simple game, I'm always impressed at people's skills working with 3D (seems impossible to me) - and in such a short time!

I like the playful atmosphere you managed to evoke with the music and witty banter between the characters - the wave dialogue is also a cool detail, nice job!

Super creative! The hand-drawn art style ties everything together so nicely and fits the premise of the game super well. The fishing rod mechanics also make this game so much more than a simple 'click on the objects before they fall' and adds some cool skill expression. Great job!

Cool take on the limitation! The detail in the art and the overall style is also pretty cool - the music coming in whenever a soul is being caught helps the game feel intense and exciting. Nice work :)

The transition effect is really cool, and I like the art style and interesting obstacles in each level. Nicely done!

Very cool! I like the absurdism and wacky sound effects, it makes the game stand out as very unique and feels very unified and coherent. Your take on the limitation is also really clever :)

(1 edit)

This game is adorable! The art is really well made and you manage to create a really laid-back atmosphere with the music and sound effects. It reminds be of that old Club Penguin fishing minigame...

Great work!

Congrats on your first game jam! I'm surprised the engine can keep up with that many fish...

It's quite chill, thumbs up from me :)

すげっ!

Very cozy game, I like the atmosphere. I did have to play each level twice, however - keeping track of that many fish is really tricky. Overall pretty nice game with a cool concept.

It was a little difficult for me to figure out the rules of the game at first even with the help of the tutorial, but I stuck to it and figured it all out eventually. I LOVE the limited palette aesthetic of this game and it all looks so clean and well put together, very nicely done. The minimalist sound and music design also really fit, and the dystopian 'debt payment' deep future theme is so cool. Really fantastic job!

Cool simulation, would be great with some chill music and effects like you mentioned

The presentation and visual sauce of this game is absolutely crazy, Pico-8 goes HARD in the right hands. Serious props to you, the procedural zap effects and audio add such a cool flair and ohmywordthisgameissogood

Cool game with some interesting strategic depth, nice work!

This is so great! I love all the work put into the art for what you fish up, and the music sets the scene really well! Super creative idea, awesome game :)

This is a really cool take on the 'Fishing' theme, and a really creative game overall. I too can relate to the struggles of zoning in. Great job, and thanks for reviewing our game! :)

I love the 2-bit style for the fisherman, it really evokes a spooky atmosphere. The background animations are also so cool and I love the detail put into the setting. Nice game!

Cool concept!
