I gave this game high marks. The design is wonderful, the pickups are impactful, the level design is solid, the music and sound effects fit well. More than anything though the game is polished. The game feels and plays like a polished game I would pay money for. So many other games in the jam feel rushed. They feel like they were made in a few days or over a long weekend instead of over the course of 30 days. You've really got something here.

More than all of that this is the game I keep coming back to. I find myself with 10 minutes to spare I might load up your page and play for a little while. Really, really, good job here. You should be proud of what you've made.

Hey thanks for the feedback. The boxes puzzle may have been too much for the first puzzle. You can't jump directly onto the boxes they're too tall, you have to start from an elevated position. You have to jump onto the box from that first dark room where the box originally was. I'll post a video soon.

If your health drops too low you'll lose a leg.

As for losing the ability to jump? Off the top of my head I'm thinking the first ability, the power beam, locks you in place while you use it. (The beam is only used to power doors, bridges, etc, and I wanted to discourage players from trying to use it as a weapon.) I'm thinking if the power beam is active and the controller is receiving the jump command... I'll see if I can replicate the bug and patch it. That's for the feedback.

Hope you get to give it a second shot.

Hey you found the spider drone upgrade! I was wondering if anyone would get that. Good job! And thank you for all the kind words. Yeah I agree, I need some additional feedback when the enemy gets hit. That first upgrade, the power beam, that was a big miss. If I ever bring this character back I'll need to overhaul that.

Good job on this. This game is proof that you don't need fancy graphics or art to have a fun game. The player controller was solid. I never felt like I was cheated out of a tricky landing or got killed by an enemy because my input was buggy. The little extra hop at the apex of your jump was inspired. I'm not sure how you programmed that, I started out in Godot and be interested to see your code. However you did it it was inspired. I'm not sure I've seen that particular implementation before and I loved it! Jazz isn't really my bag but the music fit well and I never turned the sound down. it was an unusual choice but well crafted. Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to playing your next game.

Hey thanks for the feedback, it's super helpful. That's a bummer you died the first go! I messed around with that so much, it's like 1 out of 20 times the player just gets KO'd at initial spawn and the little Gigabit models just walk around and let it happen.  The power beam doesn't do anything other than power the gears. You're right about damaging the enemies, I need more player feedback.

That shader was on point! I have no idea how you pulled that off. I love how your ammo shot holes that healed in the environment. Great effect!

This is one of my favorite games of the jam so far. Great character design, solid animation, engaging level design, good music & sound effects. Overall what you did manage to produce is something to be proud of. Same as everyone else, I hit a game ending bug in the room just above the healing crystal. If you developed this a little more I'd pay money for it.

Aww bummer :( It's a known error with Unreal Engine 5. Did it fail out just the once or multiple times?

Good game. I gave you a solid rating. Thanks for adding controller support. One of the better games I've played. It's a good-looking game. Character control is basic but polished. I didn't encounter any game breaking bugs or obvious oversite or something. I'm not sure why you implemented a pickup that I can't pickup yet, (Attack+ not implemented.) For me it's not motivating, but hey, everyone is different. Overall you have a game to be proud of here. Contrats.

I think the main page may not have mouse or input enabled.

Hey thank you for playing and thank you for the feedback.

Fun game. Good job.

Unfortunately, this game failed to run.

Hey thank you for checking it out. I must have burned 5 hours on that stupid wall climbing. I want to make it tricky without being too easy and I never got that sweet spot. Thanks for the feedback.

Ha. Fun game. Thanks for including the emulator. Dang, an actual NES game. Nice.

Fun game. Good job.

(1 edit)

Well that's embarrassing. I uploaded a new file. This time I exported the game as .exe and then zipped that as opposed to asking the game engine to do it for me. Sorry :(

Aww bummer I'm doing vector art for this project. If you find another game jam you like send me a message, I'll do your programming.

Hey, I have a working prototype here. Are there any artists out there interested in getting involved? I've made all the art, including the tileset, but I think it could benefit from a professional, or motivated amateur.

Hey! Still looking for a teammate? I have a working prototype if this looks like something you'd be interested in. Good luck.

Fun game. I like the music. Clever mechanic using the engines as both thrust and a weapon, I could see more of this.

Ha, sorry about that! I'm glad you had fun. Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to go check out your game now.

I got through a few levels. You put a lot of thought into this. I like your use of real world mechanics.

Pretty fun. Good job.
