So I loved the presentation in this game. The little clinking sound your robot gets when it moves around, the methodical sounding background music, the snazzy texturing on the boxes (and that hexagon surface, mmm). But I unfortunately wasn't able to get very far, and I'm unsure if it was because of bugs or if I was doing it wrong.

- It took me quite awhile to figure out you could push boxes. Especially with the first pushable box being in a dark area, I wasn't even sure if that was the way I was meant to go. Once I pushed the box, I wasn't really sure what to do, I wasn't able to jump high enough to get on top of them and wasn't able to get over to the next destination platform (I think).

- I lost the ability to shoot and jump on multiple occasions and I was never really sure why. At one point I was missing one of my legs, but I don't know if that was what caused it or not. Either way, without the ability to jump I was unable to progress. When I lost the ability to shoot, I went back to the initial room and got it back, so I'm not sure if it was a charge system or what.

- There were a few times where the dinosaurs would just be roaring but it wasn't obvious where they were. This was pretty distracting.

I really want to give this game a shot and see what it's all about, it looks like a lot of hard work went into it and as I said I love the presentation so far. If you get the bugs worked out or have some advice on what I'm doing wrong, I'd love to hear it and give it another play. Thanks!

Hey thanks for the feedback. The boxes puzzle may have been too much for the first puzzle. You can't jump directly onto the boxes they're too tall, you have to start from an elevated position. You have to jump onto the box from that first dark room where the box originally was. I'll post a video soon.

If your health drops too low you'll lose a leg.

As for losing the ability to jump? Off the top of my head I'm thinking the first ability, the power beam, locks you in place while you use it. (The beam is only used to power doors, bridges, etc, and I wanted to discourage players from trying to use it as a weapon.) I'm thinking if the power beam is active and the controller is receiving the jump command... I'll see if I can replicate the bug and patch it. That's for the feedback.

Hope you get to give it a second shot.

This game has a lot of unique and fun stuff: the movement of the character, the powerups (especially the mini spider drones), the overall atmosphere.

I think the first ability is too slow. It makes you immobile while using it, and it lasts more than it should, in my opinion. The combat was a bit too frenetic, which is fine and I personally enjoy it, but I felt there wasn't enough visual feedback when I hit enemies.

I really like the character, and exploring the environment was a nice experience. Good job!

Hey you found the spider drone upgrade! I was wondering if anyone would get that. Good job! And thank you for all the kind words. Yeah I agree, I need some additional feedback when the enemy gets hit. That first upgrade, the power beam, that was a big miss. If I ever bring this character back I'll need to overhaul that.

Unfortunately, I can't get Wine to run it. It gets hung up each time I've tried to load it. I'll see if there's anything I can do to fix that.

Very cool concept! I liked that this was a different take on the metroidvania genre. Finding new power-ups and solving puzzles was the most enjoyable part. I do have some feedback through:

  • When I first started the game, my character immediately died before I could do anything. Enemies spawned in the first room before I picked up the beam. I respawned quickly, but it was a little disorienting.
  • The beam itself is very slow. It's the first ability so it's kinda understandable, but I found that it's too slow to fight anything with. Granted, the turret gun can be picked up early.
  • When using the turret, there's wasn't too much feedback that I was hitting enemies (damage numbers, pushing the enemy back, etc). I think they flashed red? But it was hard to tell because there were already a lot of flashing lights.

All in all, it was still fun to play. The performance was a little laggy when I initially loaded in, but after that, it ran great!

Hey thanks for the feedback, it's super helpful. That's a bummer you died the first go! I messed around with that so much, it's like 1 out of 20 times the player just gets KO'd at initial spawn and the little Gigabit models just walk around and let it happen.  The power beam doesn't do anything other than power the gears. You're right about damaging the enemies, I need more player feedback.

Hey I tried to play your game but it crashed on startup. "GPU Crashed or D3D Device Removed.".  Feel free to reach out to me so i can give you the logs. Josue#7577 on discord

Aww bummer :( It's a known error with Unreal Engine 5. Did it fail out just the once or multiple times?

Multiple times sadly, I might try it on a different pc with a better GPU
