I enjoyed this (:
I really liked what looked like paper drawn characters, I've not seen that before. The sliding was satisfying to do and the way the defeated enemies fall through the ground was a nice touch.
The game would speed up but then slow down which confused me a little as I imagined it was meant to speed up constantly but wasn't too inconvenient. Took me a while to realize I could jump lol so I just kept ramming into the barrels but luckily they don't kill you.
Really nice work and thanks for the fun :D
So glad you enjoyed it. We completely agree with the difficulty being much to hard and the RNG nature of the enemies makes it much harder to apply skill and as you said just feels unfair at times. We've had talks and plan to change this when we do further work on it. I'm glad you made it out tho and 2 princesses is a damn nice effort. Happy to of made something that managed to keep your attention for a while since we know how long it takes to actually win at the game haha.
We appreciate your comment (:
I woke up.. memory hazy.. all I have is a todo list in my pocket. It being my only possession I follow it's instructions. As I navigate my way to the bottom of some pit I'm supposedly above I look at myself in the mirror. I look fricken sick, look at me with my 2d sprite in a 3d world. I do some sick jumps over bullets, walls and axes and find myself above the prophesied pit. I plunge myself deep within said pit and bask in the fulfillment I feel as I've accomplished my purpose in life. Suddenly I awake back in the throne room where I began my journey. What happened? Did I make a mistake? Was I not the chosen one? Did the pit not enjoy how I tasted? Now I must frantically try and find a new purpose before the timer in my subconscious runs out. FIRED!
I really enjoyed this! I was really surprised to get a opening scene to the game it was some nice polish. I enjoyed the animations and stages created but the controls felt a little janky but game jam ya feel or maybe it's cus I'm drunk lol. Even just the main menu having transitions for the options was all nice detail. Enjoyed traversing the stage just doing flips :D Well done all of you and thanks!
Play session 2 comments: I got rather determined to beat the game and I noticed the rooms were different each play through, nice! Having the dodge mechanic actually allowed for trying to 'outplay' the monsters. I got to the end tho and the door open music kept playing and I fell off the map lol. I consider that a victory!
I got hyped when I read it was prison escape esq. game. I sat in my cell patiently waiting for my dollars to miraculously appear but to my surprise they never did. I enjoyed a sick transition whilst venturing below to my computer however, I then remembered that my computer didn't work. I returned to the surface awaiting money to fall from the sky so that I could start my new corporation from my prison cell. I waited... and waited... and waited even longer. The guard came past and made sure I wasn't doing anything suspicious and I definitely wasn't, I wish I was. The big government man stuck me in this prison and gave me nothing to do other than stare at the clock in cell. I stared and stared at this clock and eventually I realized, the arms didn't move. They never moved! I had learnt to stop time! No wonder I wasn't generating money randomly, I had stopped time! I am a time wizard and I am destined to spend eternity staring at a clock that doesn't move. 10/10 would spend eternity again
Really liked the theme of cleaning the dungeon, a nice spin (: Having to go back and collect water was a cool mechanic. I did find it rather click intensive for my wrist when I was trying to spam the arrows to move around to get things done before the time ran out. Maybe moving the character when holding a key rather than only on pressing it would help. Thanks!
This was really satisfying to just run and dash around in. I found myself just enjoying jumping and dashing up to platforms lol. I got a real 'risk of rain' vibe from it and noticing the upgrades and the altars made it feel rather full as a game. I did struggle with the visuals and lighting as it started to hurt my eyes after intensely focusing on it for a long period. I think some of the UI got lost among the other colours too. Hearing a noise when the souls bar filled up was really helpful since you don't have time to watch it always when things are hectic.
Really satisfied after playing it tho, well done both of you (:
A very nice little experience. I really liked the fitting name of the game as well as the art. The perspective swap threw me off a little in terms of knowing who I was controlling but thematically it was super cool. The controls were a little janky to start (as you expect from game jams) but soon enough I got use to them and they felt fine.
Thanks for the fun (:
Thanks for the feedback, we've seen another person not realize they should go upwards too so I think your suggestion is great.
Yeah our interpretation of the 'Dungeon' theme was different from most of the others but we wanted to do something other than your standard rogue-like. We found dungeon to be more of a setting and set it in a prison/keep of a castle environment which then worked well with princesses (not my choice I swear).
Glad you got some fun out of it and thanks again for the criticism. I look forward to checking out yours :D
