Wanted to show give you a comment as you took the time to play and comment on my submission. Unfortunately, all I have is my MacBook..

That being said, the visuals you have presented are really impressive--I definitely wouldn't have guessed this was a 2 week project!

Please do ping me or reply to this comment if you ever release a browser or MacOS version--would love to give this a proper playthrough!

Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the music--thanks for playing and commenting :)

Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad the aesthetics vibed with you--and I'll try to get things surrounding the gameplay (menus, UI, etc) cleaned up to match.

Thanks for taking the time to play and comment!

Thank you for playing and commenting! I'm glad it was an enjoyable experience and that you liked the aesthetics :)

Among the comments up until this point, you have the highest score--nice job! :D

I haven't been able to get 8 of each color, myself! I'm jealous ;)

Thanks for taking the time to play and comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you for playing!! And I'm really happy you enjoyed the overall aesthetics--I appreciate the kind words :)

Thank you for the kind words! And thanks for sharing your score :)

Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for playing!

This is a really good take on the theme. Very fun idea, delightfully gross presentation down to the itch.io page. Very cool!

The main movement mechanics work pretty well, and I found things generally intuitive. For the future, it'd be nice to have more clear motivations--more score visualizations or more of a premise with goals.

Nice job--the visual execution was top notch!

This is so cute!! The music fits well with the art style and theme.

Spreading and butter, plus the butter mechanics is a very fun take on the theme. I was impressed by how nice the character movement felt on buttered floors and walls (didn't expect to ever type that sentence! lol).

I'd consider the level design for future polish. At the moment, I'm just aimlessly searching for bread--finding some way to motivate the player to go places and utilize the mechanics to get there would be great. You could improve that in a bunch of different ways with the art style, level design, story, or any combination of elements.

Great job on your first game--I had a nice time playing it!

I like both of the genres you combined for this game--it was fun to play through!

I particularly enjoyed feeling like I was both defending myself and spreading out to take over the land. The final card and autoplay to finish was exciting, too!

As for things to polish, the tutorial was very helpful, but it still took some mental strain to get the mechanics figured out. A dedicated composer would be nice, too, to make the audio experience more pleasant and less repetitive.

Overall, this was unique, on theme, and an enjoyable experience. Great job! :)

This was super cool! The music change and the growing plant is a great payoff that works time and again.

The puzzle mechanics work well, but as others have mentioned, the precision required can become more frustrating than satisfying. I got to level 16 before stepping away.

Overall very polished, and nice combination of aesthetics with theme!

Nice presentation and solid controls! Like others said, the boss moves were difficult to get a feel for.

One potentially easy improvement for the telegraphing problem could be sound effects. The hit SFX and BGM sound nice, so if a sound effect is played when the telegraphing starts and plays with the move itself, it would add another layer to understanding the boss' intentions.

Overall, great job and a nice foundation for future improvements!

Great presentation and execution! Chaotic and topical ^^

The modes are surprisingly varied which made it fun to try out the different ideas. Nice job!

Thanks for playing!! :)

Thank you for the kind words! We appreciate you taking the time to play and comment :)

It's a bit hectic! Haha we hope to tune the speed ramp up in the future so it's a little more reasonable.

Thank you for playing and commenting!

Thank you for playing and commenting! Glad you liked the art--we appreciate the kind words! :D

We will try and add proper tutorials and improve the UX in the future as we're excited to continue developing this idea. The musical modes were a tricky but fun challenge :)

Thank you playing and commenting! Sorry the game was confusing--we snuck in this proof of concept and weren't able to provide much explanation. We will update the game page in the meantime, and hope to improve the UX in the future :)

Thank you! Yes, we will provide better tutorial text and images on the game page in the next couple of days, and a proper in-game tutorial for a future release. Thanks for playing!

Thank you for the multiple play-throughs and kind words! As you say, we are excited to keep building on this initial idea. We appreciate you sticking with it enough to figure things out despite the lack of explanation :)

Thank you for playing and commenting! We were over ambitious this jam and were only able to deliver the proof of concept, but we will improve the game's description page while uploads are closed to hopefully make the game easier to understand :)

Thank you for the comment and feedback! The game we envision connects choices to a proper scoring system--hopefully that will improve the in-game feedback along with a proper tutorial :)

Thank you for taking the time to play!

Thank you for the kind comment and feedback!!

The game ended up being what you said, a proof of concept rather than a full game (we'll be uploading the larger game we had wanted to make after the jam!).

We appreciate you taking the time to play and the kind words :)

Thank you for the kind words! I know bullet hell games aren't for everyone, so thank you for still taking the time to play and comment!!

Thank you for the kind words!! I really appreciate it ^-^ And thanks for taking the time to play and comment!

Art and animation are particularly great!! The story kept me motivated throughout the gameplay. Really, the characters have personality and the world building is good.

The gameplay and systems are polished. The indicator when the character goes offscreen is an impressive touch for a game jam game!

The two things that I personally would change are the moving platforms and level restart. The moving platforms worked totally fine, but visually with a completely white background, and player movement as well, it lacked visual information--especially when static platforms were not on the screen at the same time. As for level restart, it happened so quickly that I'd lose a heart almost instantly about 75% of the time I restarted by walking off the platform, or having it break, etc.

Overall, great game! I enjoyed my playthrough a bunch :)

Nice job! I liked the unique designs, patterns, and the variety of weapons.

As others have said, audio, weapon icons, etc. would be nice in the future. The hitboxes for the character could be a bit more forgiving in my opinion as some things seemed to hit me that felt like they shouldn't have, but that's a tuning/opinion thing.

I particularly the different enemies and designs--good job!

Thank you for the feedback! Those are great ideas on streamlining the tutorial--I appreciate it ^-^

Thanks for the kind words and thanks for playing! :)

Thanks for the kind words! Glad you made it through despite the difficulty--it definitely could use a little smoothing in the future :)

Thank you for the comment and feedback!

Thank you for the kind words! Very true on the difficulty, the paths could use some polishing (and some variety!). I hope to dive into that in the future :)

Thank you taking the time to play, comment, and give feedback!

Thank you! And thanks for playing!

Nice game with great retro vibes! Sound effects and visuals were especially nice.

It's a nice base to build more levels and variety on top of. I did run into a bit of a bug where my character image disappeared at the right side of the level, but gameplay was tight and worked well.

Nice job!

Loved the storytelling! It put a big smile on my face, and was a nice tribute to making games with friends.

The gameplay and art all suited the narrative and everything felt very polished.

Really great job!

Thank you for the feedback and kind words!

That's a good point on arena size--it would make it easier to add multiple enemies in the future, too.

Thanks for playing and commenting!

Thank you for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it--thanks for playing!

Thanks for coming back and finishing it! I really appreciate you taking the time to do so ^-^

Yes happy to help! ^^

This is awesome! Really cohesive and complete. Great execution.

Puzzles felt good--like Sokoban style games where you have to sit and think up an order of attack. Music and art worked together well, too.

Really great job!

Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate the feedback, too! For the first level, the 3 powerups are auto-selected, but I could have the previous selection remain after a death--I'll try to make that experience smoother so that players can focus on the gameplay :)

Thank you for spending the time to play and comment!

This might be common knowledge for many people, but right now Godot 4 web builds don't run well in browsers for MacOS and Mobile devices. The Godot team has said they will not do anything and are waiting for Apple Google to fix the problem with a browser update: https://github.com/godotengine/godot/issues/70691. In other words, no ETA on a fix..

All I have is my MacBook, so I'm unable to play all but the most lightweight Godot 4 games, unfortunately. I'll try and borrow a friend's PC at some point and play through a handful of these games (I'm making a list! haha).

Here's some quick unsolicited advice for people who want to make their game more accessible:

* If possible, a MacOS build would be helpful--I'm happy to download a game and play it locally if the web build isn't working on Mac :)

* Consider Godot 3.5 in the future until this bug is fixed. Unless you need Godot 4-specific features, Godot 3 builds will run the best for all users at the moment.

Sorry if this is all common knowledge! It's been great to play everyone's games so far and I hope to play as many as possible. Cheers!
