Indeed it was haha!

Ah yeah! That normally tends to happen . Maybe a small delay of the laser turning on before the active hitbox could help as well

Hey! Do you recall which section that might be or level?

Ok I tried the game out and it's not bad! Although at times there felt like unfair scenarios like the enemies spawning right when I'm in a corner. Might be a good idea for the image header to have some type of action. Since if I was looking at this out of 40 entries, this one would be hard to catch my attention. It could even be a screenshot of the game and you shooting and enemies approaching or something.

This was really cute. The music you have really created a beautiful world that is worth exploring. The only thing I'd say is it would be cool if I could hold a button to speed up the text. I normally read through this kind of thing pretty quickly and having to wait is a bit annoying, but other than that, this was great!

Awesome game! I think it would've been nice to see new elements be added as you progress to keep me playing!

Got through a few levels and was pretty fun!

I don't really think the music fit this game though. The sounds were a bit annoying after a certain point as well. I DO like how when a triangle would chase you, the music intensified so that was neat

Great job!

I think having some type of tutorial in the game would be nice. At least to show what the goal is. Not many people are willing to put a HUGE time into game jams so adding a tutorial would be a good way to keep them from losing interest.

I was confused as to what I needed to do and didn't realize I needed to damage myself, but once I reached the next room I wasn't sure what to do and lost interest.

Cool idea nonetheless, just needs better execution

I really liked the color palettes you chose for this one! I was on one health almost the entire run so I didn't notice the theme until I read your comment haha. Really nice way to show "Less is more"

This was a neat artstyle! It took a bit to understand what to do, but once I did I liked it a lot. The UI is a bit `in your face` and covers the middle of the screen. I assume that wasn't intentional and might've been some unity UI shenanigans you were unaware of, but overall was fun

Once I saw how things worked, I thought this was a really cool idea! Clever twist for sure. The death sound was always funny to hear. I'd say maybe make it a bit easier in  the beginning or show the player how to do certain things? I died a lot in the beginning due to not knowing about jump, but that's on me for not reading the controls first haha

This was a really neat idea, but I think it needs a bit more tweaking. I like how the lasers can move everywhere, but at times, I felt like I was doing more avoiding than shooting which at the point just became a "dodge" game.

Neat little idea. Although it definitely does get tiring after a few clicks since it's just text. The story wasn't too bad at first, but I ended up just wanting to see the end since I lost interest.

Good job overall

Not too bad! I thought it was cool how you hid the games, but I do think that might be a bit frustrating for people unwilling to explore the area. Perhaps make it a bit more clear?

Hey! The teleportation is more of the goal. Completing it, teleports you to the next level which is why the screen goes red for a sec

Not bad. Was really confusing to understand how the bomb teleporting worked. I would shoot my bomb, but it would end up somewhere completely different which really confused me. Maybe show visuals of each step in the tutorial? Might help. Nice job!

Yeah that's a good point. Few people were having trouble understanding the goal in the beginning so I need to make a better tutorial haha

Also letting the player know how many coins they need is a good idea for sure!

I'll also take a look at bomber-man to get some ideas. Looks like a pretty fun game.

Thanks a ton for the suggestions/feedback btw. Much appreciated

Oh those black strips with the coins indicate the amount of coins you need to break that strip. That's one of the ways I think it''s different from most drill games. (Rather than just mindlessly drilling down).

I have a few other ideas to add which included

  • Power-Ups
  • Story
  • Checkpoints
  • Enemies
  • Art-style

But wanted to get the core game made which was:

A game where you must dig down and obtain coins to reach the next section while avoiding obstacles

Wanted to receive as much feedback from it as possible to see if this was something that interested people. That way I can decide to scrap it or continue

Thanks! Yeah this is a personal project that I wanted to get some feedback on.

Wanted to hear people's thoughts on it and make some changes before progressing

While I see your point, again the twist we added is if you stop(move from the coil), you die since frank can't live without it. The die part is just becoming a ghost.
It still focuses on the theme, just not in the "traditional" many expect: An endless runner where if you get hit, you stop and die(die being the game over)

Hey! We actually did fit the theme.
If you stop you die

We added a twist to it. When frankenstein stops, he dies, but no one ever said death needs to be the end

Glad to hear you enjoyed it Tlousher and thanks a ton for your kind words!

Ah ok, yeah it's probably due to the way we set up OPTIONS. Seems like we're gonna need to make a small bug fix. Thank you!

Thank you! Out of curiosity, were you able to hear the music at all?

Carton has been cursed and turned into a paddle! In order to restore him back to normal, he must clear all the levels and destroy the blocks to break the curse!
